  5. Hi and thanks to eveyone that s replied I've been out and had another listen with my head under the bonnet-the whining only appears when the engine is revved, on tickover there's nothing but as soon as you rev it even slightly it can be heard- i tried the Wd40 on the belt but no difference so I think it will have to go back to the garage for them to rectify
  6. Cheers Jim Can you pm me your price and payment details please and I'll send you the money stuart
  7. Thanks for the replies Oil level is OK Dont think its power steering as my golf used to do that so I know what that sounds like Has anyone else whose changed tensioner and chains noticed the same?
  8. Hi Just had some work done on my 131,000 mile vr6....replacement chains, tensioner, cylinder head skimmed, valve seals replaced along with the headgasket. Since having the car back I've only driven it three times and covered about 120 miles, when I start it I've noticed that there is a whine that increases in pitch with engine revs (clutch in or out). After a few miles it quietens down quite a lot but is still there. When its warm on tickover there is also a definite ticking coming from the head. Should I be concerned or would you expect it to settle down with a little more mileage? Cheers Stuart

  15. Thanks for the welcome, tips and offers of help-I'm likely to need it because whilst I'm keen, I'm no mechanic. dumptyboy, after a 130 mile trip I was a little disappointed with the car when I got there because as you say Jo's opinion on condition was a little "optimistic" to say the least. However I'd previously travelled further to view worse at a higher price and came to the conclusion that in this price range any of them are a collection of faults and a gamble. At least the issues seemed fairly honest, obvious and not too expensive to fix. It looked more neglected than messed with which was what I was after. I guess time will tell? Thanks again for the offer of help:cheers:
  16. Hi I've lurked on the forum since 2011, I've owned a few Vw's in the past but am new to Corrado ownership. I looked for ages and uhm'd and ahh'd about vr6 or 16v but it had to be white, standard and with no crash damage. In the end I settled for this for £750 from Ebay-the seller wouldnt accept my winning bid so I had to haggle up! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200793820199?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 It has a service history, 127,000 miles but quite a few issues, drivers seat broken, oil leak, blowing exhaust, dropped drivers door, small dent on rear arch and various small scabs of rust, rough idle, intermittent abs light problem, stiff heater controls, blower only working on setting four, drivers mirror adjustment not working, it struggles to do 20mpg, rear brakes dont work properly etc etc but the sunroof and spoiler work and I love it! I'm hoping to restore it to something like its former glory Cheers Stuart
  17. Thanks for the replies, any one got a picture of what it should look like with everything intact so I know what to buy please?
  18. Hi As per title really, I thought it might be the tool kit but thats stashed in the spare wheel well.
  19. Grats and welcome to forum... show us some pictures :) [/img] I hope these links work. These were photos the seller took, I'll take some better ones soon in good light. My plans are to return it to its former glory, as oem as possible and hope it isn't too much of a moneypit. I loved the 130 mile drive home though!
