  3. Is that on a cold start for each journey ie MFA 1 as I would of thought it more likely that the engine physically warms up quicker and so the cold (thirstier) map is in use for less time? Noticed the same on my 8v...morning 10 mile commute has gone from 30mpg (over Winter when it was cold) to about 34mpg. The return journey at about 4.30 when its warmer gets as high as 39mpg
  4. Thanks for letting me know I ve now managed to source a set from matt59876 so am sorted Thanks

  9. Mine runs at about that temp after fitting new VW thermostat and waterpump-and after talking to other 8v owners on here it seems the 8V's all seem to run cool
  10. On my last quote with Adrian Flux for a modified Golf 3 the only mod that caused an increase in premium was the coilovers, I can't remember how much by but it was significant
  11. Again very similar to what I was finding, small leaks as hose/clamps started to fail....I fixed the one hose to the matrix that split....a few days later a small one started on the rad. Eventually I had to replace that as well although thankfully the matrix held........touch wood
  12. The symptoms you describe match exactly what mine was doing,no obvious leaks, no mayo on oil cap, no oil in coolant bottle, sometimes a lumpy start for a few seconds, very pressured (rock hard) hoses leading to the top one to the heater matrix splitting, steam in the exhaust and I had to start topping up more frequently. I took it to a local VW specilist who reckoned he could smell G12 in the exhaust fumes even though it passed the emissions test. They took it apart and they were right, there were two places where coolant was leaking into the bores. Good Luck
  13. I bought McGard locking wheel bolts but wrecked one the first time I fitted them-think I overtightened them! Halfords replaced them straightaway though
  14. Maybe he's waiting till its a definite? Anyway, cheers for keeping an eye out.....cream ones would also be ok
  15. They're provisionally sold mate
