 Absolutely Gutted for you, looking at triggermyson's Piccies that was a very nice C. Gotta be worth salvaging it back off the insurance company to save all the nice bits for your next one. Hope you're OK, chin up!

agree with gradeAfailure 'bout tyre size, mines on 195/50s (cheaper size then 195/45s when replacing too!), if the tyres are not directional you might also find that changing to directional ones will reduce the noise factor. I found non-directional tyres with block treads much noisey then say Toyo Proxes or Eagle F1s which have a longer tread pattern.

IIRC new UK cars cannot be sold with side exhausts, but can be modded to have them with no problems. I seem to remember that the Dodge Viper had to be sold with a normal exhaust but you could then get the dealer to fit the side exhaust kit as an extra :cuckoo:

can't believe they told catch_twotwo, to get his 50mm spoiler from VAG 'as it was cheaper', that's totally mad :cuckoo: mine was defo cheaper from them  crazy!

I'm a bit fuzzy here but.......If you remove the carpet in the boot adjacent to the back of the filler cap you should see the locking actuator, you should be able to operate it by hand as it was designed to be in case of such a failure. if I'm wrong I'm sure I'll be corrected. Prob been beaten to it by the time I've typed this!! EDIT: Bloody knew it!

the chaps at the Reading branch have always been alright, but as I'm not working near there anymore, that's not much good to me!! What are the Dartford lot like??? EDIT:  Pants I thought that was GSF, Doh! GPC, yeah a bit abrupt, but I always got the impression that they had the phones ringing off the hooks, i.e very busy. Anyhow, good prices, so personally not bothered! Think of the savings and just go with it 8)

Yeah people doing big engine stuff and the like, like biggerbigben will make the amount I've spent look paltry by comparison!! Now that's reallyscary

Cheers Kev, I can buy any time in the next 3 months! It may be a while til my interior is in but if there is a group buy on I'm in! :D Hopefully a bit more interest then the last attempt, I was up for it then, :( always looking ahead if there's bargains to be had 8)

I'll be treating myself when I fit my late interior. The pods i made from mdf/filler took ages and still cost me £100 to be trimmed, so audioscape it is!

Talk to Nick at Young's garage, one man outfit so you may have to phone more than once, bear with him! Oh and Wrotham isn't that close to Sevenoaks! See link 8) Youngs Garage

Cheers for that gents, just bought a pair on e-bay for £7 delivered, thought i might as well stick to heated ones, only one is bust but at that price who cares!

Does anyone know if corrado washer jets are the same as mk2 golfs and thus interchangable?

Sound idea, would be very handy!

The instructions for using space savers insist that they're not to be used on the front, you're s'posed to swop the buggered front for a rear and put the SS on the rear, and then do no more than 50mph for the shortest distance possible. If not, if you crashed the insurance gits will have a field day :x Mine was good for an 85 mile trip home one day, i did slid up to 65mph a couple of times  but got 48.5 miles to the gallon, which is good even for a valver

Good luck in germany, hope the pain doesn't last too long!!

Eh? - they just drop in no probs - use a socket if necessary... It's the fronts into the hubs that need a press... you still need to press the outer races in steve.. Yeah but you can do that with a vice and a socket if your careful. Luckily a mate of mine turned up a tool on a lathe for me, which was nice 8)

More stunning than ever, makes me even more embarassed about the door and wing rust mine's got. will be remedied in the next 2-3 months, when i can make do without it for awhile. Or sooner if i can lend/buy a mates old passat estate for a bit!!!!
