  1. pagid pads are really good value, treat yourself!!
  2. sorry if thay sounds patronising, i wrote it as a reply to karmann without checking the second page
  3. you need a set of late style fogs and indicators. the later fogs are mounted on a surround that holds the indicators. the fogs and the surround are deeper and bring the light sets out, more flush with the bumper. checkout http://www.gpcvwaudi.com, fogs are £55+vat ea and indicators are £19+vat ea, p&p is around £10, an expense but a damn sight cheaper than vw(fogs £95, ind £55 ). simply knock out the panel directly behind the fogs and they'll fit, routing the fog cables to the plugs was the fiddlyist bit, the right one was in the corner behind the bumper(jack it up unless you've got spagetti arms!) and the left one was easier with the headlight out  , i also had to trim the outer bit of the indicator aperture for them to fit. well worth the time and effort. my fogs weren't shagged but i can sell them on anyhow. indicators were cloudy, cracked and wet inside!!!! all in all a result, 4 bar grill sets it off a treat, also from GPC :D
  4. howabout just ducting some cooler air at it? like an air box feed.
  5. did the same air feed point as chris a while ago, got it aiming at a 2" hole in the airbox!!! did the holey 'box mod a couple of years ago, but went a bit mad in anticipation of being given a filter for nothing, and suddenly found myself with no snorkel, and, 3 more 2" holes  . i'd revved it on the drive and thought it not too loud,' couldn't understand the fuss about induction roar' , until i booted it up the road  , nearly wet myself . induced a few friends to do the same . mod that is!!
  6. true about the rear proportioning valve, normally. i thought i had a right result when mine didn't need cutting off, 4 months later the bastard started leaking so it got changed anyhow :( !!!
  7. i had a mongoose exhaust fitted 4 years or so ago, as it was the only one that really fitted, at the time, and that was a slightly reworked Golf one. :) Had it done at Elite in Rainham.

    Alignment

you could always use powerflex bushes, did the rear axle mount and my main front suspension bushes on my 16v and improved things considerably, not noisy either. i'd use 'em again when/if i get my VR6
  18. cheers dubster82, i take it that knocking out the panel is just to make the hole itself deeper, and that the rubber grommets in the support are blindingly obvious?!!! :?
  19. so if i got a No.99 relay, and fitted it instead of No.19, in my 1990 16v, would the wipers work variably? that would be handy! :)
  20. i've got a 1990 16v and i want to fit the newer, flush front fogs and indicators. i think it's possible, does anyone know how much of an arse is it to do?!
  21. i too have fitted frosted clears with silver bulbs on my green corrado, they look ace, and i've complimented them with (read 'justified the expense of' ) m3 rears which i know isn't to everyone's liking but it brightens the back end a bit, i really don't like the lexus style lights. each to their own, it would be boring if everyone was the same!!
  22. All my indicators and fogs are a bit shot. i've a 1990 16v. How easy do the later lights fit in the older bumpers?? I feel I need to treat myself :) *mod edit - Please don't SHOUT your posts, de-cap'd for you - Henny*
  23. the boys at vwccgb recommend comma 'easi engine flush', i use it myself on my 140k+ 1.8 16v. the great thing about it is, you can put it in and then run the car for a week before changing the oil. it's very good for rattley tappets and i need some now for a sticky valve ! leaving it in for a couple a hundred miles really does shift the crap, personally i've had no probs with the engine running badly after. finding somewhere that stocks it may be tricky, it may be better 'up north', independent auto factors are probably your best bet. hope this helps mod edit-caps removed-vr6storm

    Thermostat

Just thought, there's a sensor on the front of the block in front of the oil cap, looks like a nut with a leccy connection, as i understand it if the resistor in there heats up it allows power to the fan, a thermo switch. Maybe it's doing that all the time? It should have a VAG number on it and I think its a dealer part, GS &F don't stock it, as i recall it's about £7 ish. Must change mine the connection's held in with a self-tapping screw! :)
