  1. Cheers Diarimaid16. I'm going to put everything in the back of my car and head off to Birmingham. I'll be there Sunday thru Thursday for the next three weeks. Where are you based Culshaw? I have nothing to do most evenings so would be happy to drive a few miles to meet up. It's always better if you can see what you are buying although I'm sure you'll be happy Andy
  2. OK. How do I do Pics? Whatever I do it says image too large. I can email pictures. I'm going out this afternoon so won't happen until later. I was really looking for personal collection I've just put the whole lot on the bathroom scales and they way 16Kg. Parcelforce will deliver for £26.71 which seems a lot to me. I'm open to other suggestions.
  3. It's been a while. I sold my Corrado to a neighbour 5 years ago. I'm now having a house declutter. I thought I'd try you guys before ebay. What I've got is everything needed to do a Golf Mk iv rear brake conversion on your corrado. It includes two of everything, rear discs, rear bearing kits, brake callipers, brake pads, goodridge hoses and copper brake pipes to the unions on the rear suspension arms. It's all new apart from the callipers which I got off here for £45.00 I've got a bill for the bearings, linings and discs from VW for £135.00 I would take £135.00 for the lot. I am in Manchester area but will be working in Birmingham over the next few weeks so local pickup or delivery in those areas is possible. Too heavy to post I think Photos available if you PM me. Andy
  4. I did mine about two years ago and the parts were around £150. I'm fairly sure that shortly afterwards people on here were complaining that the parts are deleted.
  5. Is there a place for cars for sale at Harewood? I was going to try to sell my car at Tatton but I am now going to be away at the weekend. Andy
  6. Not totally correct though. I turned down the Sony CD Radio in favour of a Blaupunkt radio cassette which drove a cd multichanger in the boot. That was in 1992. Blaupunkt was an option.
  7. Cheers on the info about location. A job for the weekend I think. Andy
  8. My idling is a bit up and down. Where is the ISV located?

    Roof Racks

You might but they won't fit a Polo :)
  10. I made a claim successfully but it was a few years back. I got a new wheel out of them and part payment for a new tyre. It was half worn. I think you can only guarantee success if someone else has already reported it and they haven't done anything about it. Andy
  11. Thanks David. I'll check it and see if I've messed things up. Andy
  12. I think the only thing missing from this thread is how do you adjust the camber if you need to. I've had my wishbones off and replaced the bushes. I also had to replace the ball joint to wishbone connections. If the camber is out how do I re-adjust it? I know the bolt holes in the connectors are oval and provide some adjustment but is that the official way? Andy
  13. My Audi is in the bodyshop today for a new wing. Some b*****d ran into it just before new year. It was parked outside the house. We were asleep. It's not an insurance job though. I have £300 excess and would lose two years NCB. Then I would have to declare the claim on my other policies. Insurance companies seem to be loading premiums at any excuse. So I just have to cough up. Andy
  14. I've saw this on another car forum last week. In that case it was a local initiative rather than a national campaign. Worth checking out though.
  15. Are you bankrupt yet Lee? You could have bought a minter with history for how much this is going to end up at.
  16. What about if the engine doesn't go? What if the engine is in bits in the boot? The MOT advice isn't good either. I think that trick only works if the MOT station is local to where the car is normally kept. Hire a trailer. I've done it a couple of times. It's amazing what a Mk II GTI will tow. I reckon the trailer weighed nearly as much as the car :-)
  17. On a slightly different tack perhaps but bear with me. As well as the Corrado I have an MGTF in a limited edition yellow colour. I've just had an email from another MG forum member who has had her car repaired and completely resprayed and guess what? It is no longer the colour it once was. She now wants to come and take pictures of hers alongside mine because it ain't the colour it is supposed to be. No wonder the insurers don't want cars coming back to haunt them. Easier to write it off. Stick with it KIP. Get the car repaired but make sure it is an invisible mend.
  18. I'm not sure where Kip's car is but if it is anywhere other than in his own garage someone will be accumulating storage costs at £50 a day. If the car is written off Kip will be liable for the costs otherwise the insurance company will pick up the bill
  19. Kip, Have a look around on some of the other car forums. None exotic ones are best. Lots of people with emotional ties to what insurers see as scrap metal. Try typing "avoid" and "write off" into their search engines and you'll get loads of info about your options. It would seem that your car could end up being a cat c or cat d even if they write it off and you buy it back. Not all insurers will let you buy it back. More and more companies are insisting on their right to the salvage. It still looks like your best bet is to get a quote that's nice and cheap from Kip vehicle repairs limited. They will give you the go ahead and pay you once they recieve the invoice. Not sure where you cash the cheque mind you but I read one web entry where a guy had successfully done this. It has the benefit of the car not not being recorded. Andy
  20. Agreed value insurance is only of any use if the car is stolen and not recovered. There are too many occurences of agreed insurance being given out on the basis of a load of selectively taken photos. The punter thinks he's got a good deal on his tin worm ridden car but the fact is that when the car is involved in an accident the assessor will assess the value of the car based on the wreck in front of them. You might have agreed an insurance value of 4, 6 or 8K but if your valuation was unrealistic you won't get it. I think you are doing the right thing to look at getting a few quotes , you also need to force up the amount the insurance co will offer you until you have a quote that is less than they are offering and then offer them the opportunity to do a deal. If you do it right you could avoid it becoming a Cat D Good Luck!
  21. Hi Lee, Heres a picture of the two toolkits. The one on the left is the one I'm giving away. The one obn the right is my Corrado one. The Corrado one comes with a jack with a detachable handle and a plug extractor tool. The Polo one has all the other stuff the Corrado has plus a towing iron. As you can see the Polo case is smaller, probably because the space saver is smaller too. Anyway, if you want it I can drop it around if you PM where you live. I'm in Alti so not far away. Andy
  22. I've got one you can have for free if it's any good to you. It's from a 98 polo. It looks the same.I'll compare it with the Corrado one tomorrow. Andy
  23. There's a set of solitudes on ebay right now. They're being sold by another storm owner.
