Hi all,

My name is Alan and I have just bought a Corrado.

Its a G60 with stage 4 charger chip and pulley.

Can anyone help with miles per gallon info about this car please, as it is giving very bad MPG.

put £20 worth of optimax and only did 70 miles. :

Thanks.

Alan

You should be able to get 30mpg on a properly set up G60...

What chip is it running??

I would get it to a specialist like G-werks to be setup asap if it's using that much!

'lo Alan... Welcome to The Forum... 8)

There's loads of topics on here about rubbish MPG from a G60... If you use the search (use AND between words to make it more specific) you'll find loads of useful stuff about what causes this problem...

You may also want to search for "lambda" "blue temp sensor" and "Vacuum pipe" as these are the three main running problems with G60s that make for bad MPG figures... ;)

Good luck! 8)

Is it normal to have the water temp light up(red light) on the dashboard for about 30 seconds sometimes and then disappear.

Also, the oil temp shows 114 max at times and is always more than 96 once the engine heats up.

The water temp gauge on the dash isn't working either.

Would that be a problem?

Sorry to keep asking some silly questions as I previously owned a simple ford escort and this is totally new stuff.

Cheers

Alan

114 is normal for a G60 on standard factory oil cooler (poxy unit that sits on the front of the block with the oil filter below it)

Water temp guage is likely to be the black sender thats dead (front water pipe that exits the head) or the clock unit itself.

As for fuel consumption, if you drive a G60 like a saint you may get 30 mpg on a run, extra urban driving i reckon you are going to be lucky to get 25. I put in £20 in the other day will prob get 120 miles for that, some of that was on a knackered charger which won't have helped mind, and the rest was test running the new charger.

Also what chip is it, have heard the Jabba chips can overfuel.

It has got a Jabba chip I think, as the charger was all done by jabba sport.

But 70 is a bit unreasonable right?

This is the engine bay at the moment.

Do you think that the coolant level is low and may be that is causing something to do with the water red light appearing on the dashboard at times and the car drinking too much fuel?

Does look nice.

Can't see your coolent level from here but would say that your washer fluid is about half full ;)

70 is very unreasonable, that probably equates to about 15 mpg. Then again though have you been booting it everywhere?

I am suspecting it to be the coolant sensor because the water temp gauge on the dash is not working and the sensor is next to the coolant gauge isnt it?

if so, may be the coolant gauge.

here is another pic

Welcome to the world of the permanently empty wallet and the wide grin

I'm running a Jabba R1 charger and chip and pulley amongst other things, rare I get less than 30mpg - this is doing a mixture of motorways, A roads and stop start driving

Eh up, welcome to the forum.

Whole car looks very nice actually, are they the BBS Anniversary rims?

It is worth swapping the coolent temp sensors. also check that the sensors across the fuel rail are connected. Check the condition of the lambda sensor wires (located behind engine on the cambelt side). Other checks here for sns page

Hello all,

I changed the blue and the black sensors from GSF, but no difference. The water temp gauge in the dash is still not working.

I noticed that the revs are always at 1100RPM and sometimes comes to 900 RPM. This was from the time I bought the car. Is this normal and is this the reason why my fuel consumption is bad, as I would be using fuel in traffic i.e. engine running at 1100 RPM.

Is there any way to sort this problem out? My wallet is getting empty. (reminds me of the decay rate curve)

Please help.

Thanks

Alan
