So you're chicaneuk then?

Gambles mate, life's full of em..... take one now and then

Nice colour and decent engine, the only thing I don't like about it is the fact it's 5 door, but it's not my car and therefore not my problem :D

Enjoy!

I'll tell my mate you are just another typical time waster then. Only messing :)

isn't that gonna be a 150bhp engine rather than a 115?

Looks nice anyway... hope you're happy with it Jim... 8)

I didnt go look.. I bid for the hell of it, and I didnt actually get outbid.

As I say, I could hugely regret this. But I never take gambles.. its about time I got some balls and took one.

I wanted 5 door cause i'm fed up of mates scrambling to get in the back seats ;) And sorry to have wasted your mates time Kev.. I just decided to be spur of the moment on this.

Not on an X plate mate.

The 150 only appeared in the GT TDI, 03 onwards I believe....

TDI can be either 130 or 115....DI denotes PD engines AFAIK....and I was normal TD.

I think CAIOSG60PWR knows for definite...

No offense mate but 106,000 miles for £6K?

My mate has a dark red 3 door TDI 115 for sale at £6,200 with about 60k on it and a load of extras. It's on the trader in Guildford, if you want to cancel last minute I'm sure you'd like this one

I thought it seemed like a good price ffs.. i've spent a good few days looking round the Autotrader in my area and found nothing that came close to this spec for the price.

Sigh.

It is a fair price, nice spec too. Besides - whats 100K on today's engines? Especially a diesel, just getting bedded in!

Is there some project you're not telling us about Jim V8 engine block?

 Yeah, spill the beans Jim. If you'd wanted a Daimler V8 I had a fully dressed one complete with auto 'box sitting in me dad's old garage.

Come to think of it, it's still there... I'm sure they'd let you have it for free :)

I'm confident it'll be a good car.. and at the end of the day he is local. If its got some huge fault with it, I wont have any problems chasing him down!

The fact that he has good feedback makes me feel a bit more reassured too. As I say, its a big gamble but the optimist in me says I won't regret it. I figured 100k on a modern diesel is nothing and with a FSH, full MOT, it can't be too bad.

Fingers crossed. Will go see it and leave deposit hopefully this weekend.

Well my Dad has been rebuilding a Daimler V8 250 for a few years now.. its nearly complete:

Though might be interested in that V8 block mate.. got any more info? :)

Seeing as my dad knows those engines inside out now, we're considering a project actually.. possibly doing something stupid like shoving it in a MK1 shell.. would be fun ;)

Ahh ok, it might not be what you want then and I've got no idea if it runs..

IIRC it's out of a '75 350SL...
