Recommended Posts

For those in the Yorkshire area try - Motolectro Vehicle Systems, the blokes name is Maximillian Pitts. He's based in Leeds, but he's a mobile alarm fitter so can come to you and fit alarm at home or at work even, really does know his stuff and he did a great job on fitting my Autowatch alarm/immob. He also came back a few times when i thought it was broken - was just me being a numpty.

He may even be willing to travel outside Yorkshire.

AWESOME ACOUSTICS IN BOLTON? 07792 217 892

Spoken to a chap there who seemed to know his stuff and very friendly.

Has quoted me £400 to fit a Clifford G5 Concept 650 mk2 but said he would need the car for two days

Does this sound about right??....at least he should not be cutting any corners!!

Not too sure. The bloke who did mine (post above yours) took one FULL day to do mine. Suppose it depends what your having done. I had alarm immob install all locks wired up to alarm, internal sonics, full closure. i didnt have something like remote start fitted.

Andy fitted a Cobra to mine today - very happy with the result - got a shedload of old alarm/wiring removed - cleared up a lot of other crap hiding behind the dash - and now have a nice new alarm - top job - recommended

I dropped the C off on Wed night, to collect on Fri as was at a wedding [Hindu, non alcoholic! ] all day. Got a call from him about 3 or 4pm saying it was ready to collect. Dont know if he worked on her all the time but he turned his nose up when I said some fitters have quoted me 2 & 1/2 hrs for a CAT 1 install!!

Had a CAT 1 alarm fitted by Andy (trim wizard) today cost me £275 which i thought was reasonable, it is a cobra alarm, really knows his onions, time will tell if its any good. Took about 4 1/2 hours and he had the loom already made up, i did tell him to take his time.

My Cobra Thatham Cat 1 Alarm fitted in 2006 has just packed up !!!

Great, cost me £400 and lasted 3 years, not impressed.

It has been with the alarm specialists this morning.

I have now rang Brentacre Insurance, who say the Cat 1 is no longer required and Thatham Cat 2 is OK.

Apparently the Corrado was delisted from Cat 1 some years ago.

So, I am wondering why you are all still going to the expense of the Cat 1 when a Cat 2 can be picked up for £100 whereas the Cat 1's are £300 ish. ?

First i've heard of that Wendy. I had to have a CAT 1 fitted for my Adrian Flux policy... which i took out about 18 months ago

To stop thieving scum stealing our cars, im not an expert but i would guess cat 1 is a fair bit better than cat 2 and i would feel much happier paying the extra to secure my car.

My understanding is a Cat 2 is an immobiliser and a Cat 1 has an alarm and immobiliser.

So question is, does the alarm actually stop anyone thieving your car ? !!

Difficult one !!

I too am tempted to re purchase a Cat 1, but is that because that is what i have become used to ??

Yes they do! My old G60 was broken into earlier this year, but because the alarm went off they didn't actually get inside the car or nick anything. Wrote off the drivers door in the process, the scumbags, but didn't get the car or any of my ICE.

Another big thumbs up for Andy from Trim Wizard. He fitted a Cobra alarm for me yesterday. Top job and really knows his stuff!

He was very complimentary about the condition of my Corrado too :)
