h100vw 0 Posted July 29, 2005 early dash(up to mid 92) has mk2-style heater controls. Which don't go wrong later dash mid 92> has classier looking rotary heater controls. Which do  The 2 litre is controlled by a version of K-jetronic, it has been refined with the addition of lambda control to allow it to be 'cleaner' than the 1800. Not a patch on the ABF 16V from a mk3 Golf though, which has digifant management. I am sure you'll enjoy whichever you buy Neil. I had an 1800 and for relatively little money you can improve the way they look, go and stop. Gavin
Neil VR6 0 Posted July 29, 2005 You should probably be prepared to spend a bit on "maintenance" type activity as the 'Rados are getting on a bit now. The car I picked up was a very tidy G60 but it still needed things like brake compensator valves, new rear calipers, rear suspension bushes, front bushes etc. Things that you can't see! They aren't that cheap to run which is something I learned v quickly after buying mine! It certainly shouldn't put you off though :)
JBOB 0 Posted July 29, 2005 Hi Neil. If you want someone to come with you when your viewing then im not a million miles away from Sheffield 8) and any excuse to go looking at C's
-Neil- 0 Posted July 29, 2005 JBOB would love that please, just need to kep an eye out now. Think ill go with the 1.8 16v for reasons stated above. JBOB, do you recon chesterfield Auction would be worth a look, i know its abit risky from auctions, but might find one. Cheers for all your replys guys :D Neil
Riley 0 Posted July 29, 2005 hi m8,welcome. the 1.8 16v is 139 bhp as standard. 2.0 16v is 136 bhp as standard,as said above these run a cat and also a softer inlet cam. personally id go for the 1.8 16v,it dosnt need a cat, which then allows you to chuck in a 2.0 16v lump (with kr 1800 inlet cam and no cat!) which obviously unleashes more power/torque. and then id stick it on t/bodies 8) that was my plan anyway, but ended up with a g. neil. bcstudent 0 Posted July 29, 2005 the 1.8 16v is 139 bhp as standard. 2.0 16v is 136 bhp as standard The 1.8 16v as found in the Mk2 Golf GTi is 139bhp. The Corrado version has a smaller diameter inlet manifold and is tuned for extra torque at lower revs. As a result the peak horsepower of the Corrado 1.8 16v is quoted at 136bhp - the same as the 2.0 16v. Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted July 30, 2005 That grey one looks lovely (always liked the grey C's) but it has got the later bonnet on what should be an early car. Draw your own conclusions Oh, and I'd want it for a few hundred quid cheaper than he's asking. May be worth a look though.
-Neil- 0 Posted July 31, 2005 does anyone rate this one, its in York, might be worth a look?
