standard 0-60 times... mines weird but good!

Recommended Posts

i own a STANDARD! 2.0L 16v corrado and i thorght the standard 0-60 time was 8.8 secs as standard...

follow link

corrado specs then follow the corrado spec then stock specs...

mine does it in about 6.5 secs which is faster than a VR6 ???? this is not possiable.....

ohh well i think there is nothing to worry about... i guess maybe there is mods which i cannot see like ECU and stuff.... well the person sold it as standard so i guess it is.. but the bloke in the past removed the CAT and put a straight pipe there but now it has the CAT back due to MOT purposes

please submit your 0-60 times and a list of mods which you've made

cheers

The only way your car would get anywhere near 6.5 seconds is if it had a turbo fitted which I think you would notice!

Exhaust mods and ECU re-mapping etc would not give you that sort of increase in power.

congrats you have the FASTEST 2.0 16v mildly -tweaked if any C   ............seriously tho unless you have the proper timing gear etc i doubt very much you have managed to get those times......also if you go by your speedo you will also find that this either over-reads or under-reads

I know my 2.0 16v felt quick, but not "0-60 in 7 seconds" quick.

The standard wheels for the Corrado are 15" though so VW's figures would be correct for that size of wheel.

i used to time my cars with a stopwatch and my punto would do in around 5.5 secs lol

i have always used a rule of add about 1.5 - 2secs on to the time you get.

Problem. Old cars had instantaneous, mechanically operated, cable driven speedos. New cars have electronically controlled speedos. The electronic ones usually add a delay.

Your reflexes will be so geared to hitting the button when you reach 60 that you'll usually hit it before you do. Also your speedo will almost always over-read, hence you're only really doing 55 or so when the needle sweeps past 60. Since it's illegal for a car to under-read, the manufacturers usually err on the other side..

Many reasons why it's impossible to get a representative performance figure without specialist equipment...

My 2p.

(I used to clock 0-60 in about 9-10 seconds in my ancient 1.6 cavalier. Book time is 12.6.) :)

I've tested mine to destruction (literally - new cv joints) using a Race Technology Performance Meter. This is a fantastic toy at about £140 - check out the website http://www.race-technology.com

The kit has been independantly tested by Redline mag :? (I know - but I skimmed through it once in WHSmiths) along with a couple of competitors and was found to be accurate to within a tenth of a second on the 0-60 and 2 tenths on the quarter mile compared to the GPS based system used by most magazines nowdays.

Anyway, after dozens of attempts on various surfaces and with differing amounts of wheelspin off the line I've got a best of;

0- 60 = 6.13 secs.

0-100 = 14.30 secs.

Quarter mile = 14.62 secs @ 102mph

I should point out that my car isn't quite standard spec (check out cars for sale) with a Stealth measured 257bhp and 233lbft.

So - if you can get 6.5 sec 0-60's from your 16v you're doing pretty well!!

In fact if you can verify that with my Race Technology kit I'll swap motors with you and pay your insurance, road tax, council tax, income tax.......

 :D :D :D

I'd wager it's more like 9 secs if you're having to change into 3rd before you hit 60. - Still not too shabby for a sub 2 litre front driver.
