What head is this?

Recommended Posts

Found this on a thread on Vortex and couldn't work out what was going on. Is that a crossflow head on an g60 turbo?? If so I reckon this might be of used to a certain junkie

Could it not be a G40 head? Hmmm...

Maybe it is a non-sporty model like perhaps an early mk3 1.4 or some such? not worth turboing per se but you know those Yanks!

G40s have the exhaust to the front of the engine.

The 8v crossflow is from 2000ish model golfs and beetles with the 2l 8v engine.

Stu. Try to catch Chris on MSN as we were talking about this subject this weekend and he knows a bit about it.

it does look like a small block engine, far too small to be a 2L crossflow head like the beetle engine and the brake reservoir looks like mk1 to me, perhaps it's in a mk1 cab or caddy?

oh yeah, d'oh,

8v heads always look so tiny.

Prehistoric engineering always does look smaller than it actualy is... Hehehehehehehe.

To be fair I just guessed at 2l crossflow head. I could well be wrong.

Yes he did.

So, you going to go crossflow then, Si? You'll get less heating of the old inlet manifold, and shorter pipework runs as well by the looks of things?
