Nipped out to Faaker See in search of some food earlier, it's absolutely heaving! What should have been a 30 minute drive took more like 2 hours...

Anyway, have a few (!) more pics.

Arrived here about 7 this evening - my mates MKII has blown the head gasket so we've had to stop every 50 miles to top him up :(

What an amazing drive though...

Glad you made it! :thumbleft: Haven't seen a single UK numberplate here yet, so the more the merrier...

Driving over / through the Alps was awesome. Straight out of a video game, 5km tunnels and all!

The scenery's just stunning. Struggled up some of the mountain roads - my Mk1's only a carb'd 1.8 8v, and an auto at that - but well worth it for the end results. Half the Alpine tunnels were hacked out of the rock by hand so the inside is like you're going caving!

Kölnbreinsperre dam was great - check out that viewing platform!

Saw my hands-down show-winner afterwards: Khaki Pearl has never looked so gorgeous :notworthy:

Is it bad that I really want a Beetle?!

Nothing wrong with that at all! I'd have another in an instant if I had space to keep one... should've never sold my '67.

Loving some of these pics, think I'm going to start sounding out some friends for a trip next year. Little'un would love it as well!

If I'm not mistaken this is precisely where we all stopped last year to try and understand why I had race-spec camber after the gearbox change.

Turned out we got a ball-joint "slightly" out of line in the dark.

HappyDays.

Love the pics Nick. All the best for the return journey.

Yep nailing the VR through the tunnels was just awesome. Got back last night and I'm on a serious comedown. Few more pics off my phone as haven't got round to sorting the ones off my camera yet. Can't wait til next year...
