Daniel29490 10 Posted June 8, 2014 So, a few weeks ago my girlfriend spotted this black vw in a carport very well hidden. Fast forward 4long weeks, and this is now the new pride and joy. Sadly there's quite a bit to do on it, but hey, I wanted a project. And my amazing girlfriend found not only a project but one that stops me in my tracks every time. A love I didn't really realise I had. Wow, I love this thing. Here's some pictures. First few snaps. Daniel29490 10 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Been on ramps today. It took 5 people and lots of bits of wood, in the end 2 people grabbed each side and lifted the front on the four poster ramp. Think she's a bit low... The good news is she's absolutely mint underneath. MOT Tech couldn't find anything to pick on. So hopefully she'll be MOTd tomorrow. I can now sleep at night again. Fingers crossed. P.s.: I had a massive grin as people gathered around it. Customers, employees and pretty much even people walking by had a quick look. Most didn't know what it was. Yeah, not a car for shy people this one. Love it. L.e.: all this while phone kept going off, girlfriend cheering on: "GO RRADO GOOO!!!" Intake off, rocker cover coming off tomorrow, awaiting new gaskets, everything will be polished, painted and/or cleaned before it all goes back together with fresh oils, belts and filters. Sorry about the small updates. Only get a few hours a day with a very very tight budget at the moment. Waiting for parts now. Anyone got any tips to polish the manifold and other aluminium bits? fla 9 Posted June 16, 2014 i polished my (VR6) manifold which took a lot or effort and subsequent maintenance to keep it looking good. sexybourbon 0 Posted June 17, 2014 You will regret polishing , pain in the arse to keep on top of and time you will probably not get when the bext thing goes wrong and you end up with a scabby used to be shiney manifold with lots of little fiddly bits to try poke your fingers in , id say nail on the head with high temp paint mate and il will stay cleaner and look better in my opinion Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

But to me, it's the reason I'm selling my a4 diesel, and it's what keeps me up at night. It's mine! And I love it! Thanks for the positive comments guys. Really makes me feel all fluffy inside. Daniel29490 10 Posted June 19, 2014 Armed with degreaser, jet wash, wet & dry and VHT paint (and lots of coffee) last night I managed to get a lot done (in my eyes). Planning on clean(ish) hands when I get under the bonnet in the future. The aftermath And the mock up. I like it. Will go over with red paint on the inside of the engravings on the manifold.
