VW Heritage... postage costs

Not sure if anyone from Heritage ever read anything on this forum but I hope they do.

 

99% of the time I'm more than happy to order stuff from Heritage, yes sometimes some bits can be cheaper from the bay of e however I still prefer to get my parts from them as I feel I am dealing with enthusiasts with a real desire to see older VW's kept on the road.

 

But.... £3.29 to post an O ring is taking the p!ss, and that's not even next day delivery...

 

Come on Heritage, that seal could have been posted for the price of a first class stamp, stop being greedy...

Yes that's steep. Should be a first class large letter which I think is 94p postage and the packet cannot be that much surely :)

1st class signed for is £1.72,that leaves £1.57 for an envelope and someone to package it.

They won't send it out un-signed ,in case it goes missing,it isn't financially viable to buy small items from them,(I've tried) I usually wait until I want a few things before I do an order !

I noticed that postage is absolutely extortionate when I went to buy an oil t piece, think it was about £5! I understand that mail order businesses have to be careful about posting things because of people saying "it never arrived, can I have another one free of charge" whilst keeping the first one but surely it can't be that expensive!

£3.75, then add delivery @ £3.29, then VAT @ £1.41 equals a grand total of £8.45 for an 'O' ring seal.

I think it is easy to think it seems expensive for what it is but when you add up the production and shipping costs to bring specialised parts to what is a very limited market with a slow turnover coupled with the potential for only a small overall profit, I think it is very cheap.

I have to agree. At the end of the day the Corrado was a comparatively low volume car, and now with so few left on the road here in the UK, producing / selling parts for them is a potential gamble for anyone.

 

Personally I'm grateful that folks like Heritage have taken it on here in the UK, given that VW dealers themselves have feck all interest it seems. Think about the time taken for one order, in terms of processing the order, verifying payment, packing it, etc - then think what (at the very minimum) hourly wage is, plus all other associated costs along the way.

Here what you are saying guys and totally agree that Heritage should be praised for taking up the baton that has been dropped by VW... Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning about the prices, I appreciate these parts are getting hard to get and as such will attract a premium, I just feel the postage is a bit much.

 

For interest this seal is currently available on VW classic parts for €2.84 (£2.27), I'm sure Heritage can get a better deal than that so I guess they have made their profit on the mark up, just think adding more profit on the postage is a little bit unfair.

 

Don't get me wrong, Heritage do a great job, I've ordered bits from them before and will continue to use them in the future, I have no issues with their service or the quality of the parts, just wish their postage price was a bit fairer.

I thought Heritage and Classic were the same thing, lol!

 

I ordered a MK2 vinyl sill trim from Heritage recently and I did initially think the postage seemed a little steep, but it arrived the following morning and well packed, so didn't mind paying it.

 

Unfortunately businesses have to find ways to keep themselves afloat and if they do it via postage costs, fair enough. Ebayers do the same thing. Dealers do it via parts. The labour rates just "keep the lights on" and pay the wages etc etc.

I think the postage cost is a standard charge, for small items. Loads of other company's out there have similar postage cost.

 

It's probably because penny orders are to much work to process for the profit returned.

 

I just try to get an order over £35 to qualify for the free delivery, by adding service items. As you always need them

I stood up for the postage costs,

But what I don't understand is why does it take so long to ship stuff from Germany,

Six weeks !!! Do they use a fleet of carrier Tortoises ?

I ordered a small pallet of goodies from Australia(120kg) it was delivered in 6 days !

I get delivery s from USA in four days,

My stuff from Germany has always arrived in 3 days via DHL. Ditto with Fedex from the United States of American land.

 

But I ordered a pair of running shoes from Addidas's UK site. 6 days!

Must be just me,

It was 6 weeks for a rear quarter a few years ago,fair enough it was a large part,

But six weeks for a clutch pedal !

This is why I only order from them,when there is no other option !

They won't ship individual parts is why. They'll wait for a large amount to save themselves charges. I ordered from ARZ Tuning a few weeks back and granted, it was almost £30 delivery charge, but was with me within 48 hours.

Ony just seen this thread, not been on in a couple of weeks its been hectic here with our warehouse move

 

I agree our postage on small items is expensive, we usually if you call can reduce it a little for you, or if you can make up a £35 order with service bits etc then its free delicvery on a 2-3 working day service.

 

I know most people think its the cost of a stamp but its also the cost of packing materials, someone to pick it, someone to pack it so it does all add up, but it is better to just make a larger order on the postage front,

 

We are the UK dealer for classic parts, classic takes about 2 weeks from point of order on parts we dont stock, It used to be longer but recently classic have got it together and its now quicker, we put an order in every tuesday with classic so it also depends on what point you place your order in relation to our order with them

 

I also try and price all our parts from classic as close to their retail as i can, also ordering via us you wont be payingpoostage from germany and having to translate their site etc.

 

Yestwerday i set up a load of new bits from classic, spoiler motors, more badges, some trims they had available, i try and keep an eye on new stuff they find or get hold of.

 

If anyone finds classic parts we list that are massivly different in price please PM me as they shouldnt be much different, we dont make a massive mark up on classic but unfortunately are bound by their prices also.

You should try getting stuff to Scottish Highlands and Islands! Bloody joke. at least the times I have used VW Heritage they have not lumped on ridiculous additional costs for delivery here.
