agreed value classic car insurance.....

Recommended Posts

I guess I could read all the adverts from our sponsors and go with one of them.....

but looking for recommendations for car insurance....

VR6 agreed value of about 10K, garaged, er third car which I will use very rarely so about 1K maybe 2K miles a year.

Hi

I arranged similar cover through Footman James. My Corrado is a 3rd car, iit is garaged and I agreed 3k miles per year. The price came in around £170 and covered both guaranteed value and recovery/salvage rights. They offered breakdown cover for an additional £37 which undercut any other offers. They were straightforward to deal with. Good luck

Brentacre, cant recommend them enough!

I was with them, but after they insist you use their windscreen fitters, and after SEVEN screens before they got it right, countless phone calls to Brentacre,I won't EVER use them again !

Carole Nash. Use them for all my car's now. Friendly, efficient & reasonable prices. Tried many of the 'other' well known classic insurers bur usually end up back at Carole Nash. Had a very bad experience with Adrian Flux!!

I'm with lynbrook insurance, no agreed value for me (yet) but I know it's an option. UK and EU breakdown cover, spares cover in the garage, plus option to have them pay you labour to repair the car yourself should something happen. Very happy with them so far.

Hi Dragon Green,

It sounds like you were stuck with one of the insurer windscreen co's as Brentacre don't have their own.

A couple of our main insurers do insist on using their own companies (or subsidiaries), and we're powerless to change that unfortunately, and generally this works really well. (Most insurers do the same TBH, it speeds up the claims process no end)

Not so long ago however, one of those insurers starting using a particular windscreen co, and I think they just got overwhelmed by the extra work. As weeks went on, problems were on the rise. We were on the phone daily chasing the companies up on behalf of our customers and shouting at the insurance company for letting them down. We do specialist vehicles, we don't want every Tom Dick and Harry company touching our windscreens, especially if they're going to mess it up! (I should add for balance that a large number were dealt with quickly and efficiently, not helpful for you, but for balance). After much work from our office manager and MD, we managed to encourage the insurer to back down and allow some third party companies to get involved on specific cases (classics etc), and eventually they gave in and moved everyone back to the system they had before which we knew and loved.

I apologise to anyone caught up in that, most went through, but when it went wrong... but rest assured we weren't sitting back watching everything fall apart, we were on every case individually pulling every string we could to push them through. At the end of the day, our customers pay our bills, not the insurers, so our loyalties lie with you first.

Apologies I'll stop short of replying to OP's request as we're not a forum sponsor and don't want to tread on toes.

Simon

Even late VR6s are now over 20 years old, so are being offered classic insurance. I am going to put a toe in the system as we speak..

its that time of year for me again....

thinking of increasing the agreed value amount this year from 15K to maybe 17K. what do you guys think ??? to be honest no amount of money would replace the relationship I have with the car....

insurance company want the car assessed for value... how to people go about it.. who does it ?

Renewed mine today with Lancaster.

£132.00 with 3000 miles, drivers legal protection and windscreen cover.

I have no idea what they would be like if I had to claim, hopefully I will never have to find out!
