vr6 ISV muffler.......Delete or replace?

Recommended Posts

My 95 vr6 isv muffler was cracked damaged, I only noticed when I found the car not running/idling right.

Unsure if it's that to blame as still checking heaps on the car.

But as an immediate repair I araldited the box back together which also seals it back up.

I am unsure if this box should be 100% air tight as it's still got a vacuum leak.

My main question is should I replace it or delete it?

Thoughts?

ISV not exhaust muffler.

I think you can still buy them new, although iirc they're mega expensive for what they are. I'm sure if you ask around you should be able to get a decent second hand one. If you've got a vac leak around there, it certainly won't run right though.

I know what he means the black plastic box that sits above the isv. I've heard of people's in the past exploding and it being really loud without it.

Sorry I should have mentioned it's the muffler delete I am asking about.

They cost £39 from VW.

I recently bought one for my old man's vr, there is a little bit of discount in it from vw so you may be able to get that 39 down a bit. Think I paid around 36. Either way I didn't think it wad bad. Was just glad they still made them! Haha
