What 80's - 90s cars for sale have caught your eye recently.

Don't see many of these anymore pretty cool with the Zender Kit and SEC bonnet and the monoblock alloys. Are we in agreement this is becoming a cheap cool classic ?

190s are on the rise - and very solid cars too. I always have a hankering for a W124 7 seat estate, 280/320 or 300D. For fun. an Audi 80/90 or Coupe Quattro with the I5 engine. And for real retro charm a Volvo 340 or Saab 900 would be nice.

The old Saab 900 is one hell of a cool car , really retro interior to . I think with the ulez now live there might be a few bargains to be snapped up in London .

That's a hell of lot of car for the money. You can get a secong hand hardtop for £250 off ebay if you shop about.

Well as per my signature I've been enjoying BMW E39 5 series ownership for the last couple of years. There's plenty around, can get your foot in the door for

 

They're absolutely brilliant cars. Not without their share of common problems (probably just as many as a Corrado, if not more) so don't for a minute think they're bomb proof.. but happy to give some tips and what to look out for, for anyone considering one :)

Cost me the princely sum of £1,300 with 119k on the clock and a service history so thick it filled a large lever arch file.

I think I remember these were reckoned to be probably the best all round saloon car available at the time in terms of reliability, build quality and driving experience - well wear.

Good luck to the seller of this Storm, looks like a 2k car max to me even less , so only 6k for the storm badge and eroded solitude alloys. :shrug:

Maybe the roofs been reskinned, that would explain the shocking paint? I bet the gutters could tell a tale?

There is no way that is original paint - I've never seen that happen on factory paint unless you throw acid at it. The sunroof thing is extremely suspicious. Storms would have all come with a standard spec inc. sunroof from the factory, then were rebadged in the UK - so a re-skin seems likely here if indeed the paperwork proving it's a Storm is genuine.

This is so true people are so obsessed with mileage in this country, modern classics are very usable so one should expect high mileage and purchase a car on history, maintenance, chassis and body condition. Some of the worst cars to buy are garage queens but I suppose if you spend the money on them you should get it back but you have to pay a high premium in the first instance.

Indeed, my own drives much nicer with regular use! That said I've not used it for 2-3 weeks and now the battery is flat though :(

+1 for Merc 190D's So so cheap, always liked the look of them.

 

Keep looking at Sierra XR4i's, or 4x4 my mates mum had one, always thought it was cool. Bit weary of the ford classic scene though:

I watch HubNut on youtube for reviews of "rubbish" old cars. Oddly these cars are more interesting than the sea of PCP/leased modern cars around today.
