I was looking a while ago, everyone currently out of stock and quoting September before they were expecting any in. I’m just running on the old leaking one a keeping an eye on coolant level for now.

It's the same story for the G60 and I have been running on a leaky rad since 2 weeks after getting the car. It's starting to get a bit irritating now to be fair.

Anyone had any luck finding somewhere with OEM / Hella replacement radiator in stock for a VR6?

Depending on where it's leaking, you may be better off getting it re-cored. Means your car will be off the road for a few days of course.

Hi Simeon, thanks for the reply. I never thought or had any experience of re-coring the original. The radiator is not leaking yet, but has a bit of a bulge at the bottom, and I was looking to replace over the winter when I have the front end off the car, so there will be no problem having to wait a few weeks.

Can anyone recommend somewhere? I will need to courier radiator back and forth as I live in the far north of Scotland, so no where is local 🤦🏻*♂️

I believe the Hella radiators are now obsolete, I looked around and everywhere shows out of stock. I'm sure I also saw a post that someone had contacted Hella who confirmed they are no longer into coolant parts and no plans to make any more rads.

Couple of us on CCGB FB have been considering get a price for a group buy for ali rads, but won't be cheap.

I’d be happy to consider an aluminium radiator, but would like something that fits without modifying the car. The only radiators i’ve seen are for VR6 turbo conversion, and i’m not sure if they fit without modification.

What are the pros and cons of the aluminium radiator over a re-core. Apologies if this has already been discussed to death on here.

Potentially some available in December is the latest update I had. I’m SORNed now so it’s no longer affecting me but can see this causing issues for some.

I have actually got one of these Alu radiators, however the last owner had it fitted a few months before I purchased the car so cant give links or advice on bracket fabrication, yes another thing that has been done to the Rado I'm selling !

It cools the car great to be honest and fits in there fine. The only thing that you have to mod is the brackets to house the radiator, they don't match the stock housing bracket points. I would post some pics on here to show you how it sits from looking above it in the Engine bay. The radiator trim piece fits on top of and it fits great under the slam panel.

I have got the receipt of the mechanic who fitted it and he was Epsom way.

Hi Keyo, thanks for that. I’m assuming yours is the GPI racing radiator? I don’t mind fabricating new lower brackets as long as hoses and cowl etc can remain stock, so photos would be helpful. I’m in no rush, so happy to weigh up the various options.

Lovely motor by the way. If I hadn’t just bought one then I would have been very interested. GLWS.

I too have an aluminium radiator it’s an Arlows Racing one, I got it off EBay. The thing to watch out for is some don’t have different size inlet and outlet, the original has a larger bore bottom pipe connection. It was dearer but seemed better than the also European Woley radiator.

Mine fits well to the bottom crossmember, however I did grind the little tabs off the back so the standard fan set up would fit once I’d dremeled the holes for the bolts for it as they were slightly off, same for the rad sender this fowled on the fan cowling so dremeled a bit off that there. Sealed the new rad sender with locatite 577. Done. That bit took 15 mins. Then made a couple of bracket to hold it to the slam panel when that was refitted. They took 1/2 hour messing about.

The best thing about fitting one of these is that you haven’t got that plastic elbow thing just waiting to let go one day and it is better cooling. If you want some photos pm your email and I’ll send you some.

Think it was 8 x m6 blots and washers and 2 strips of brass I cut off a bit of plate I had.

Cheers

Shaun

Hi Nelik, well spotted. I’m just about to go on holiday, so will wait to order until I get back.

Looks like I have a few options though:

1) wait to come in stock with Heritage,

2) buy standard radiator from eBay,

3) buy aluminium radiator from eBay,

4) add name to potential group buy.

Thanks for all the help 👍

Im not sure which radiator brand it is as the mechanic charged labour only on invoice and the seller didn't have the receipt for it. Shaun member on here has seen it and he might be able to tell you if mine is the same as his. Can't post pictures on here chap its a buggeror would of.

I can say I went for a good drive in the Rado today and she was steady at good speeds at 88 degrees with the alloy radiator and of course you gain weight savings to the heavy nose of a VR6. Well worth checking if your grill has the three opening slits as well because mine dropped by 5 degrees running with that grill at least and that is been modest.

Thanks guys. I’m swayed towards the alloy radiator. I have both the one slat, and three slat grilles, so hopefully I can get a combination that suits the frozen north 😂

Jon, I’ve sent you a PM.

Thanks for all your help guys. I’ve now got a new radiator 👍

Which radiator did you go for and does it fit? Thanks

It’s an Arlows alloy radiator that I bought off the forum. It looks good quality, but I have not got round to stripping down the front end of the car yet. I think a few people on here have fitted this radiator and may be able to provide feedback on how well it fits.

I’m also having problems finding a radiator for my vr6; I’m having problems sealing the radiator top flange. Found an ally one from a company called Worley on eBay, anyone had any experience with them ? Cheers
