I have been doing stuff but not much to report. 
sorted the wiring and most stuff on the hatch just the lights, glass and plinth to go on. I had an old plinth in good condition I managed to get off one of many a hatch I’ve took home. Thought I’d give it a spray upside down, it came out really well with nothing able to use it as a landing pad, it’s now ready ready to go on but I’ll wait until I’ve stopped going in the back so much. 

 
I put the wiring back in the drivers door after a bit or wrappIng repair. 
It is possible to do this without taking any plugs off and pull the wires into the car and back the way they came out, either way it takes a while. Next up buff the roof and sunroof. Then put the sunroof back and so on.

Plinth looks good. Has it still got all the lugs on the back?!

Was that a special plastic paint you used? Was thinking of doing the front grill.

It’s got 3 of the 4 left, think I’m going to give each one a bit of glue anyway so they don’t brake off and it starts flapping about. 
Body shop sprayed it first, don’t know what with, It looked a bit naf so I lightly sanded it with 1000 and sprayed it with Upol satin black. Nothing reacted, time will tell how long it stays on. 
Front grill is a bit dodgey cause of all the bugs and crap hitting it.

It is nice to be doing bits to it. I feel your pain as much doors were a pain to do earlier this year

On the plinth I added some double sided tape, just to be on the safe side.

I’m hoping I get it all back together except the interior over the break so I can get the glass sorted in the new year. 
I've spent the last 2 days with a bloody polisher in my hands. Scuff marks all over it where they haven’t finished it off properly after fine sanding, I started doing it just where seals and stuff go so I could avoid getting gunk in the seals if I left it till later. Unfortunately my OCD kicked in and I’m basically doing a 3 stage polish from the doors back! ffs 😂

I’m determined however not to do any sanding/Flatting myself.

Well, it's one more step towards victory mate! I call this kind of work "behind the scene" it gives you a great piece of mind feeling but it's tedious, takes a lot of time and no one will see it after completion. I too used satin finish spray paint, I did on the grills on top of the dash where the air goes to the windscreen, they were kind of brown with the sun beating on them for years... Anyways, keep it up and happy holidays!

Put this gutter strip on yesterday as the first bit of rubber to go on. Bit of a faf and nerve racking.

Next up. Put some brood together. OMG. 

Decided for the best to have the cassette in the closed position and drop the lid onto that and then put the screws into that. Open it on full tilt, then replace the interior sunroof cover from the back. Make sure the interior panel goes over the hooks on the cassette or it won’t close fully with the roof panel and the rain gutter won’t line up properly. It need a good push from the back in the closed position. 
What a lot of messing about. The sense of achievement when I got that set up and working was unrivalled, definitely deserves a beer going through that.

I’d advise anybody who’s fitting a new sunroof seal to get an old sunroof panel and run it around that first and then fit it to your sunroof panel. 
You have to pull and push that hard to get it to fit properly that there is very large chance of damaging your sunroof panel. It fits a lot easier once it’s shaped.

I had the sunroof panel off mine when fitting the cassette.  Never thought to leave it on, perhaps as it was off for painting.

1mm up at the rear. 

You are cracking on with it today

It fits great once you’ve wrestled with it for two hours and made the ends of your fingers numb. But I suppose it’s got to grip it good as it’s no good coming loose and falling off.

Yes at it today,  been doing the drivers door and come in for a bit as I’ve lost a bolt and was going mad looking where I’ve put it. Just that bolt to put back and the kick plate and I can turn it around and start the other side.

I took one to Vince and he said my old one aint  bad so must be a bitch of a job - I reckon I would put it in some very hot water first and also use some fairy liquid as lubricator. Robin who is there from time time also put me off by saying the new seal sticks up more.

It’s the metal inside the rubber that needs shaping, the only thing that’s going to help is pre shaping, Vince avoids sunroofs like the plague, it’s the only thing they won’t mess with

Double sided sticky membrane. 
Got this in 2012 by the looks of it. It’s like a super sticky membrane that is really useful for things like rubber bits as in the door jar and hatch

Can someone please post a pic of the rubber strip on the underside of the door just to make sure I fit it the right way round. Get that done and I can move on.

Thanks Cressa that’s it. I was right then but didn’t want to risk it. It looks like it should go that way because of how the flappy bit curves, but I’ve learnt to take nothing for granted with Corrado design 😂😂
