I dont know if they are used in Polo's but basically they are one step colder than the W6's. It made a difference going colder in my Rallye since its tuned, colder plugs have shorter insulation noses so basically will transfer heat out of the cylinder chamber more quickly. This also results in less probability of pinking, but if you go too cold then the plugs will foul during idle/low throttle. Try one step colder than standard if you have tuned your G60/VR6 etc (and by tuned i dont mean just a cone filter  ) Anyone using other than Bosch needs to check the heat scale since for Bosch , colder is denoted by a lower number whereas NGK's denote colder plugs with higher numbers :?

You only need to go for the bigger injectors if you are making at least 16psi peak boost. Plugs, you should have Bosch W6DPO. OR you can go one step colder since you have got higher than standard boost and power, the colder ones are W5DPO. :D

Or you can get 4 from me.
  4. Just remove the bypass and hey presto, dump valve sound on each gear change under boost!
  5. I'll be back on wknds so i can still sort the londoners out  Leaving today :(
  6. Cant really say yet but we're working on it.
  7. Hi guys, i'm still here just busy sorting things out, making a BIG move to Newcastle!!! Nitrous is fun, I use 35bhp wet shot. I only use it after 4k rpm and not all the way to the limit since the 8v fuel pump gets a bit stressed. If you dont wanna squirt it into the engine you can use a kit with CO2 in the tank (cheap) to super cool the intercooler. PS. Whats Newcastle like?
  8. Yep if you can afford stand alone management then go for it. chips contain the complete fuelling/timing maps as well as a host of action - reaction tables. The ecu reads the map on the chip at full throttle and therefore controls the fuelling etc correspondingly. The ecu switches between the lambda for trimming fuel and the chip for the fuelling map at part throttle and full throttle respectively. The chip also has other tricks on it such as No Lag code and cold start maps. At the end of the day it really depends on what you wanna do with your G60, If you're gonna modify the 8v as it is and go for the cam/porting/pulley/intercooler etc then you wont gain much from going to a stand alone over a good chip. If however you're gonna go on a mad one and do a cross flow turbo for over 300 hp then you'd benefit from a stand alone. Although we even have maps for turbo's and cross flows too

    Where's mine??? 8)
  10. Couldn't have put it better myself! For those who don't know, Sam is the main SNS man in the States.
  11. Larger intercoolers do allow for a more aggressive chip since the intake air will be cooler, however it isn't so much different from a chip for the smaller ic (depending on who's done the chip of course) More important than timing is fuelling on the G60....two words...........Digi-Lag. 8)
  12. Magnecor do a nice set if you wanna go aftermarket, if not then just get a set of originals from a vw parts specialist.
  13. endor: Alternatively i can supply you with a new set of 30lb injeccies. Steveo: Version 3 is a more aggressive No Lag code where we can bring in open loop fuelling for partial throttle at specific boost levels, ie 2psi!! In other words, even on partial throttle at low boost we can ensure you wont go lean.
  14. Red Tops ie 30lb injectors should only be used where the boost is over 16psi. The injectors themselves wont add power, they are just needed to compliment the modifications and provide sufficient fuelling to make the power. I will be doing some moe development on the 30lb chip in the next week or so to see if we can improve things. All chips will also now have the No Lag version 3 too 8)

[Drum roll] In 2003 a G-Lader commando unit were hounded by problems from the VW standard design that they did not commit. These men promptly solved these problems in a way no one thought possible and are now underground. Today still wanted by VW and other tuners, they survive as soldiers of performance. If your G60 has a problem........ If no one else can help......... And if you can find them........ Maybe you can hire............. THE G TEAM!!! 8) 8) 8) 8)
  16. Check your knock sensor cable. If the rubber is perishing it may be sending false signals to the ecu. Always a good idea to change it. Is this a recent problem? Does it happen if you progressively put your foot down?
  17. You'll only be able to try it of you have a 3.5bar reg fitted, we've mapped the chips to that. Interesting that you have a Superchips one, most people have a Jabba or AMD chip in their G60. I'm sure you'll like it anyway, unless of course, you like Digi-Lag :D
  18. It will go straight onto the head but not sure about your exhaust set up. Give Neil a call at Volkspeed. :D
  19. where is the sound coming from?? Use a ratchet end or a metal pole and put it on some surfaces (engine block, charger, water pump etc etc) and see if you can feel the vibration from the knock in the pole, try and locate it. Hope you can get it sorted man
  20. Hehe, yeah thats true. Besides, i'm sure i can offer some tuning advice to all the G60 raddo owners, could even bring some chips along for people to try out. :D
  21. Maybe this is a dumb question but err..... can i bring my Rallye
  22. Put a tubular big bore exhaust manifold in last week, wrapped it up in the thermal stuff (nasty glass fibre) and then sorted a problem i had after putting it back together again. When i took the standard manifold out i couldnt believe VW had put such a crap piece of work on a Rallye! It was very heavy too. Anyway, went out tonight for the first time to try it out and oh mamma its so sweet. Mid-range Torque has improved and top end is stonking, 4th gear is so much better now too. Respect to Neil at Volkspeed for the system. Gonna stick the wideband on and try to squeeze some more ponies from the beast 8) OH and it sounds like an aeroplane now
  23. Nice one Lowg, thats a good temp to stay at.
