  1. It does seem a bit on the expensive side to me considering its mileage and the number of owners. But it could be a minter, so 6k for a mint VR is good!! However, you do see them going for 4.5 - 5k on the autotrader, and some of those have less mileage and better spec. The only real way you can judge, is by actually going to see the cars in question, and determining whether they have been well looked after or not and are likely to give you few (??!!) problems.
  2. I think the wheels look pretty good on the rado, and wouldn't mind a set myself!!
  3. you say to the centre of each arch. Do i take that as being the bodywork or bight under the arch where the springs are??
  4. Was gonna fit the new rear discs and pads, but the dumb stealers gave me the wrong discs, so i've had to wait till today to change them. New ones won't be arriving till tomorrow, so i'll have to wait till next weekend now! They did throw in a free set of bearings though :)
  5. Cheers guys. That is exactly what i thought, but he is insistent that the VR6's had uprated brakes than the G60's and valvers, and that is why they don't house the bearings!!! Don't know what is going on, i'm just gonna drive in their, get them to put the car on the ramps and see for themselves
  6. On Saturday i went to my local dealers and bought a set of rear discs and pads for my 95 VR6, ABV........ The guy told me that on the VR6 the rear discs were not part of the hub, i.e the bearing housing was not part of the disc, like on the MK2 Golf GTI. He just gave me these discs, and said to knock the old ones off, leaving the hub and bearings, and just to replace the new discs over. Stupidly, i didn't check, and when i got home, ready to do the job i saw this was NOT the case. The discs DO house the bearings. Had to wait till this morning to ring the guy, due to these bloody holidays, and he is insistent that he has supplied me the correct discs for my model of corrado. He says that maybe mine has had an axle stub change?????? Is this true, or is he talking rubbish? Any help would be much appreciated guys, as i'm going in to the dealers in a couple of hours to try and sort this mess out. Thanks in advance guys. Sean oh yeah, the part number for the pads and discs they supplied are: 357615601B - Discs 1Ho698451D - Pads
  7. I just love the mystic blue storms. And yours looks so good now it is lowered. I really need to save up and get mine lowered.... looks like a rollerskate at the moment!!
  8. The 16v has a belt rather than timing chains as on the VR6 engines. At 130k you would expect the belt to have been changed at least once!
  9. I saw a red VR6 that had that interior when i was looking to buy. The guy said that the car was previously owned by a VW technician who had done it at work....... :? :?

    A few problems

Thanks guys for your quick replies. Will set about trying to rectify these 'niggles' tommorrow when at home and a proper garage to work in with decent tools!! Will try your method of checking the relay Phat, and hopefully all will be sorted. Thanks again

    A few problems

After just having had my VR serviced at Dubsport, i have been shown a few advisories. Was just wondering if anyone could tell me just how important/severe the problems are, and if it is worth getting it seen to straight away. 1. Cat heatshield needs welding. 2. Center and rear box need replacing. (it's not blowing and appears fine to me, maybe it is just corroded and on it's way out, so maybe i should wait till it does go??) 3. Leaking oil at oil cooler oil seals 4. Ribbed belts need replacing.(i think both alternator belts and PAS belts. And then VAG COM showed that the fuel pump relay is "something something" (can't remember if it was inoperative etc..) What do you guys think, and roughly how much to get these niggles sorted out?? Also would the fuel pump relay be in anyway connected to the immobiliser, as the other day, after having driven the car for 10 miles, i switched off. When i tried to start it 10 mins later, it wasn't firing. Tried about 5 times, and eventually it caught?? Any help would be much appreciated. Sean
  12. How much for this kind of set up, considering i'll need all 6 speakers and maybe some wiring too? Also what is an infinity bass link?? Is it a combined amp/sub?? Cheers guys for all your replies
  13. maybe it was an optional extra having the push button switch!!
  14. Saw a red debadged G-reg rado near Wigan this morning. Was giving it the loud pedal!!
  15. Does it improve the performance of the VR much?? When i was looking to buy, i test drove one with a K and N and thought it was way to loud and boy-racery for me.
  16. Has anyone got any advice on upgrading all of my speakers?? Am not really in to the whole sub/amp thing, just want decent speakers. Have got a fairly good head unit already. Also i don't think there are any door speakers, just grilles. Will it need wiring to put speakers in there, as i know alot of raddo's have speakers here. Cheers
  17. Sorry to hijack this thread but mine makes a really annoying rattle from the dash. Any ideas??
  18. Just seen the 4WD turbo'd VR at Dubsport!!! 8) Looks like a wolf in sheeps clothing!! Wouldn't have known it had been seriously tweaked.... but jesus, was told it was one hell of a beast!!
  19. cheers Kev, that saves my pretty incompetent computer skills a job!! :)
  20. Sounds like wheel bearing, although surprised it clears when you reach higher speeds. Have you re-torqued your wheels since having the new tyres put on??
  21. I haven't found the running of my VR6 to be too expensive yet. (touch wood) :D Although, because corrado's are quite rare, new panels are quite expensive, and so to are some of the parts. But like Henny says, to keep the cars running well, you do need to be prepared to spend the money on them, after all, they ARE nice cars!!
  22. interesting colour. What wheels are you gonna put on it?? Would like to see it when it's all done. :) Pretty fast worker??!!!!! :D
  23. I've done abot 1500miles since buying mine, and it hasn't useda drop yet. Still on the max mark :)
  24. i'd be interested to hear the sound file. I'll try and get it up tommorow. Will need the help of my friend as i'm not too hot on computers!
  25. Yeah, town driving on a tank lasts around 300miles. But hit the motorway's at a cruise and you'll be getting over 400 to the tank!! Plenty!
