1. I've used 2 lightened flywheels in different cars now, both track cars though. They were the original flywheels that were machined by a local engineers. No problems with either, and they remove a LOT of material!
2. Turns out that Camskill didn't have the M1144s in stock (6-8 weeks delivery!), so I went for Ferodo DS2500 instead. Only heard good things about them and I was a fan of the DS2000 about 15 years ago(!), so thought I'd give them a shot :) And a nice xmas pressie for the old thing :)
3. That bike looks like something out of Tron!

ecu decode

I can see why you'd need a custom map if you've got a different head and inlet, fwiw, I would have picked a specialist to map the ecu for that engine. You didn't pick that lump up recently did you? I saw one advertised and wished I'd got the cash!

Interesting, I've not heard anything bad about revo before. They've got other maps of you wanted to go stage 2, 2+... But if you didn't want an off the shelf map then a custom map is they way to go anyway.
6. Nice, Jeff :) The Scirocco GTX is my favourite out the bunch :)

ecu decode

I was looking in to this recently. Revo will reprogram your standard ecu with a stage 1 map and remove the immobiliser. You should be able to find your local Revo place on their website, but I'm not sure if you need to send the ecu off somewhere to get it done.
8. Ah, ok - so that image at the top is a bit super illuminated then?
9. I'm hoping that this answers one of my questions. Aren't they normally illuminated? I was surprised as to how dark that area of the dash is at night, I figured that some bulbs had blown!
10. Obviously, this thread it useless without pics ;)
11. Payday arrived so I've treated the VR to some new powerflex rear wishbone bushes and some new discs and pads for the front. Gone for Mintex M1144 pads as I don't think there's anything out there for better all round performance :) (And the occasional trackday)
12. I bought my VR6 recently to replace my Mk5 Golf GTi as a daily (the Golf is a bit too modern for me ;) ) But on the drive/garage, I've also got a Mk2 Scirocco running a Corrado 9A on Webers, a project Mk2 Scirocco, a Scirocco race car running a 200+bhp KR on webers and a brand new (3,000 miles on the clock now) Mk3 Scirocco TDi 177 R-line which is the wifes. And a classic mini special 1100 which I'm meant to be doing up to sell.
13. I'm in agreement on the points for pole and fastest lap, can't see why they don't do that again.
14. The Corrado feels more planted at higher speeds I think, whereas the Scirocco is more nimble. But it's hard to compare modified cars. My VR has coilies that are pretty stiff and they really help with the higher speed change of direction even though it's a heavier car. It doesn't feel a mile off the driving experience of a mk3 Scirocco really. Obviously, the VR sounds better ;-)
15. I'm sure I saw one on eBay earlier today!
16. Yeah, I love the wheels. I have a set of Compomotive MOs on one of my Sciroccos so like that style of wheel anyway, another Scirocco I have has 16" Speedlines on too, shame they're all 4 stud!
17. I'd say it's the angle of the shot! :)
18. On picking my VR6 up this weekend I thought oil temps were a bit too high - around 106 just at motorway speeds (not being silly as I don't trust the car yet :) ) I'd expect it to sit under 100degC at that kind of speed. Are VRs known to run a bit hot then?
19. Thanks. I'm loving it so far, just a few niggles to sort - sunroof, wheel geo and a couple of small bodywork bits.
20. Yup, at least the sticker on them suggests so!
21. Hi folks, I collected my VR6 yesterday and can't help but grin when I even look at it... I've come from a long line of Sciroccos, mk5 Golf GTi and new Mk3 Sciroccos (my wifes) so I'm familiar with the marque. My Dad had a G60 some years ago which didn't run well that often, I did fix some of it's problems but it needed work really so he ended up selling it for £1000 :bonk: I was tempted to buy it off him at that price to put the engine into one of my Mk2 Sciroccos! Oh, I also run a Scirocco Forum called Scirocco UK and have a part in the Mk3 Scirocco Forum Scirocco Owners Network, so may have seen some members cars at various shows over the last couple of years, it'd be nice to catch up with some of you in the future :)
