1. A vacuum leak should result in a very stiff pedal that you need to exert a lot of pressure on to have any effect. (Try switching your engine off while moving and pump the brake a few times. In a safe environment, obviously!) It's possibly normal, Dave. Does the car stop well? If you can lock the wheels up doing an emergency style stop then it should be fine.
2. Depending on condition, I'd go with Eibach.
3. I'll take the hatch if Matty doesn't want it!
4. Got any pics? I'm not sure that the modern DRL look would suit the Corrado, but happy to be proved wrong as these days they could be considered a safety feature.
5. Excellent. I've toyed with the idea of buying Cat C/D cars to do up, but with so many projects on the go at the moment, I tend to leave it as Friday night beer haze daydreaming :D Good luck with this one. Are you local to Derby? I'm in between Derby and Nottingham...
6. I thought the previous version of the fiesta st was boring and soul-less to drive. Didn't the journo's like it? Shows what I know!
7. Sweet! I didn't get my gtx until 1997! I do still own it though.
8. Also, the biggest hint I can give anyone that fits coilovers is that when you install them, cover the threads in copper grease :)
9. I've got APs on my VR. Not through choice - previous owner had fitted them. In the past I've only used more premium brands (mid level price, I'm not going to spend over a grand a corner) Leda on my Elise and Gaz Golds on my mk2 Scirocco. I've been very surprised by the ride quality of the APs, I perhaps wouldn't have bought them, but I'm not going to get rid of them either. I've not got the car properly set up yet, but once I have I'll be tracking it at Donington and then I'll find out how they stand up :) Oh, they're definitely not too soft!
10. I thought so too. But can anyone say if the fittings are the same across all types of Corrado?
11. Unless I've not seen them, that price will get you zinc plated ends. And they're rubbish, as I've learned from experience.
12. Ideal for a G60 16v conversion, or 16v turbo. Partially polished, but as I'm not really in to polished stuff I haven't finished the job. Looking to get what I paid, £140 +p&p
13. I've read that the VR6 brake lines are different to the other models, so looking at this ad - http://www.mattlewisracing.co.uk/product.php/1015/0/ what do we think? I like the all stainless construction and the price...
14. Well, the VR threw a bit of a wobbler this week. I thought it was the "classic" immobiliser issue (engine starts and then stops after a second), but it turned out to be the electric spoiler fuse! Only noticed as the spoiler hadn't quite closed properly. Weird... After a search on here I found that it's not unheard of.
15. Nope the Storm was the DX 1.8 8v engine, 112bhp...
16. A bit of thread dilution here! For the OP, I'm guessing you saw my ad on here? Golf GTi For Sale They are great cars, yes, a simple stage 1 remap will give around 250bhp and you can get decent fuel economy. Unfortunately my commute is too short to make it that good, but it's into the low 30's. For me, the Mk5 GTi is like a grown up Corrado, the performance is similar, but it's much easier to drive fast. It is also very easy to live with on a daily basis, looks stylish and never seems to be out of fashion in the work car park etc. The GTi is also a more enthusiast owned car than most marques out there, so there's an excellent source of online forums for help and advise. I'd keep mine if I didn't have 7 cars here already, and I'd got the VR to replace it... My 2p :)
17. Oh, and the coolant temp sender.
18. It means that the fueling, timing and CAT are bang on :)
19. I get a lot of looks, questions and even offers to buy when I take my Mk2 Scirocco out. For a long time you could pick them up for a few hundred pounds, now there seem to be better examples for sale and the asking price is reasonable/high (approx £1,000 to 3,000). It's hard to put a price on a car that you probably won't use as a daily, so becomes an enthusiast car imo. I've got 3 mk2 Sciroccos, and don't think I'll be selling any time soon :)
20. Oh, and aside from taking off any bits of old fibre gasket, I wouldn't go rubbing the face of the head down at all. If you've got any imperfections on it or a warp it'll need to be skimmed.
21. I've used a few metal layered gaskets now and not had any problems. They are so much better than fibre I will only use them now. I've never used any sort of sealing compound though, and I've used them on young and old (9A) engines.
22. For sale is my Golf GTi - 3 door 107000 miles Metallic black Winter pack (heated seats...), automatic lights and wipers. Auto dimming rear view mirror, heated mirrors... Tartan pattern GTi bucket seats (don't look anything like as bad as they sound!) Interior in very good condition, some of the controller knobs are a little worn, seats are excellent. 2 minors on the interior are the drivers seat doesn't pivot forwards (as I rarely take passengers it's never bothered me enough to fix) and the rear cup holder has come out. Stereo is very good with, um, a lot of speakers around the cabin. Lots of stamps or specialist servicing in the book, last couple of services done by me and the last one was bigger with spark plugs & filters. 17" Alloys with decent tyres, the wheels have been curbed by a former owner but are still straight and true. Brake pads are as new all round, discs with lots of material left. Climate control works perfectly with the ability to set a different temp for each side of the cabin. ABS and ESP of course, both work perfectly. Oh and traction control. Bodywork is in good/very good condition with a couple of scratches that look like they were caused by a stone in a wash sponge and a stone chip on the bonnet, but not through the galvanised panel. All original (kinda rare for one of these 8-) ) and, as expected, drives beautifully. And it's quick too. £5500 ovno Also, taxed to end Jan. MOT to end March.
23. Heat it up to remove it and get a new nut. I have the same issue on mine at the moment.
24. Fonzooorooo, I don't seem to be able to get away from you!
