Tell me about it mate - was well chuffed when she came up like that.... just need to get my list of things done and I'll be a sandman :D lol - the Bar B Q is actually ready for the bin as getting a nice big one for the new patio
-
Used Autoglym tyre cleaner....
-
Not the engine cover.... But yes the rocker cover.... early ones had metal rocker covers and late ones have plastic... thats why the late VR's sound a little quietier...
-
Well just done mine - so thought would post some pics - this was just using gold class wax plus some t cut to remove scratches....
-
VR6's never start on the key - is always the first / second revolution of the engine when it starts... The noise you mention on the steering is the brass contact that goes between the steering wheel and the ring on the column.. if you look down between them you can see it easily - it picks up dust, etc and get noisy - 5 min job to clean! As for oil - defo 10W 40 Quantum Silver (£10 for 5 litres from VW) Scott.

Same here... Just found out a mates Dad is a classic car restorationist and does it for a living.... guess where my C is going
-
New Front mount added to the ever ending list of parts required....
-
Nah that defo aint matrix.... matrix is situated a bit lower down and when it leaks it goes downwards therefore would end up in footwell not glovebox area... Reckon you got blocked drainage holes in your scuttle panel!
-
Yup thats right - the front wings and something to do with the rear end is slightly wider to accompany the wider track of the VR6.... If going from early front to late front you have to change the wings / bonnet / lights and obviously the grill.....
-
No mention of FSH.... Also that is WAY overpriced IMAHO...
-
Probably asked a few times but just replace the front mount or all of them? - As you know the VR is coming off road shortly and thought I might do the front mount too at same time as access will be easier with the bumpers off and the cylinder head!!!
-
I nearly did till I went to the main dealer and it was a case of 'oh dear'.......... Ouch thats heavy - the springs arent too bad though... Wil fit myself of course and save the money left over for some Eibachs

The fault wont be the relay as this is switched by a common signal which is then distributed to either left or right by the stalk. It wont be the fuses because theres a common fuse for both sides. Its not the stalk because the hazard switch outputs do not go through it but the hazard switch also wont flash the left side. Which leaves either the hazard switch or the connections to it. If you have the hand to eye cordination of a brain surgen you could try to strip and clean the switch, if not get a new one Listen to this man.... he makes mucho sense! 8)

My suspension is top of list to sort out... whats costs involved in H&R Springs and KONI Shocks?
-
How many slats does your gril l have? What bonnet do you have ? ____---------_____ or ----------_________--------- (refering to the bonnet shape) What heater controls do you have? Are the fog lights / indicatiors recessed or flushed with front bumper? Does the rear seat have a centre arm rest?

You have bought a J reg 16V.... thats a 1991 1.8 16V Whoever told you it was a 2.0 16v was wrong.... my old J reg 16v was also a 1.8.... great engines!!!
-
Mine didnt Henny.... You defo have a KR engine Justin - no buts about it. What year is the 16v mate? 1.8's were until 1991....I personally view the 1.8 KR engine a better engine than the 2.0 anyway - but thats just me
-
The Pro-Plus stuff is shite.... be warned!
-
That looks defo like a KR engine to me as well......... blue writing on manifold ott though? :?:
-
   I looked up trade price in various guides and seems the figure is about right. Even the salesman said its a collectable car therefore I should sell it privately :D
-
Yeah but that was a trade in on a brand new paxo? - therefore they were paying you to take the paxo away :-P
-
Bit of both really....£2700 trade-in.... And the Audi is shite!!!!  and so is the customer service I might add!!! I turned up in my VR all shiny with alot of people staring at it as I turned up... good start or so I thought.... not so - the salesman was a arrogant twerp who was constantly asking how I wanted to finance purchase - I told him cash in the end - That shut him up. He then wouldnt let me test drive an old shape A3 as he thought I should try the new shape... although I had told him several times I dont like the new shape.... and although I stressed performance and handling was important he still reckonned I was better off with a diesel.... this is probably due to me mentioning that I do 40k miles per year!!!!... By now - I had seen several Audi A3 / S3 and decided that they werent for me... so I walked and got back into my VR6 and blasted off down the road :) If thats main dealers in general then they wont be seeing my money. So for now the VR6 is staying......
-
oh dear, oh dear, oh dear......... Have a guess.........
-
Sounds like you have bought a shed mate..... my VR is built like granite and have no rattles at all!! I have had mine nearly 3yrs and covered over 30k miles and all I have needed is: - Ignition Switch - Auxillary Water Pump - Front Brake discs and pads - New Tyres - Heater Matrix - Headlight lense and routine servicing..... My sunroof works fine... my spoiler works fine... my temps are fine... parts prices are ok as long as you use GSF / ECP wherever possible... in fact my VR6 is cheaper to maintain than my old 16V Corrado was! Everytime I drive it - it puts a smile on my face.... compared to a MK2 Golf its in another league! :D
-
LOL £3k trade in ... £4 - 5k is better than I thought IMAHO.... :-P
