1. be good to see how well they fit as it's obviously pattern
2. it's passive and not active and is basically just a combination of the rear beam and brackets geometry and the shaped and shouldered beam bushes
3. travel kettle, mini-fridge and and car vac? I need mine for lighting my montecristos
4. I'm confused, why not just use one of these? http://www.amazon.co.uk/NoveltyThunder-Cigarette-Lighter-Charger-Generation/dp/B00I1OII7Y/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1419323876&sr=8-16&keywords=in+car+usb+socket
5. I use the 10% not because you can get away with it but because the car speedo overreads, sat nav, phone app and driving towards those smiley face speed signs all agree, most car speedos overread a bit, My mk4 golf is the best I've seen, shows 60mph when I'm doing 57 on the sat nav. presumably if you got done by unmarked cars it was because you averaged 32/33 over a distance with them following you, I've only ever come across people being done by fixed cameras when doing 34 or more, in which case their speedo was probably showing more like 40 which is a fair cop in my mind?
6. I don't think any detector would give you enough warning of a mobile cameras radar. I find the speed limiter on my qashqai really useful, I set that for 33mph in town and know I can't accelerate over that, I also use ulysee speedometer app on my android phone and you can set multiple speed warnings on that so it beeps at 33 and 44 for instance.
7. These seem to get good reviews, ring RSC4 smart charger £24 from amazon right now
8. My guess is this happens when the lever has been badly adjusted for years, if the end of the handle cover (facing the rear of the car) gets bent each time you pull the brake on, then the lever is pulling up too far. The whole thing isn't helped by rear caliper handbrake release mechanisms seizing or partially seizing though, that means the lever has to be lifted up further.
9. this is adequate (065) or you could go for the slightly more expensive 075, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exide-Excell-Car-Battery-Type-065-3-Year-Guarantee-/290924089618?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43bc6d5112 a bigger battery is really just going to give you more time with the car sat draining a small current from the alarm/immobilizer radio etc. the corrado is quite accommodating for battery size though which means if you do go for the biggest (length-wise, like the diesel ones) you'll have plenty spare for big audio installs or long stay airport carparks etc :)
10. I think the washer should be against the spring, can't find a close enough photo of mine at the moment, I think the polo column I had came with an all in one spline adapter and top collar which may be the difference, looks like a pressed steel round collar thing on yours.
11. check on ebay for ECP, a hefty exide one from there was about £45 delivered for me and cheaper than their website or car parts 4 less
12. something's not quite right there, I'll try to look back and my pics and dig something out, the should be a large alloy collar thing larger than the spline adapter, holding the top spring in place
13. I'd like to know which parts of a healthy engine drop visible bits of ferrous metal into the oil?? seems like these things are a waste of money to me, only use is in gearboxes and transfer boxes with no filtering of the oil.
14. fracking protesters do my nut in, get over it, if we can have energy security and fund our health service from the tax it's all good as far as I'm concerned, at the end of the day most of us are living over old coal/tin etc mining areas or on land of previous industrial use and there's so much bullsh1t about fracking destroying the world as we know it. ... and the hippy in the picture looks like he deserves a good kicking, get a job and do something useful for society! I'm more concerned about a country that passes laws preventing 2 car owners gathering together! Oh look, two Corrados next to each other in Tescos car park... you're nicked.
15. 'Car cruising' ban in Black Country http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-30285191
16. every time I take that thing out I marvel at the stupidity of the design
17. you either need to remove the rack or column, I can't see you sliding the UJ off without one being moved out of the way as both connections are in fixed positions, bear in mind that if the column has never been out it will have shear bolts that can be a PITA to get off, irwins, drills, cold chisels, may be required!
18. My passenger door does the same, problem is it is likely to jam/stall again, not sure why if does it bug I think a new motor us needed
19. yep, that's right, plastic bearing and longer spring at the bottom, lock housing, spring, then slightly shouldered collar, washer and your adapter at the top, then wheel, another washer and nut :) you can see the shouldered collar in pic 1 on page 1, under my hand in the pic where I'm removing the key/immoboliser ring from the polo lock
20. those two parts are the collar and washer that hold the ignition lock in place at the top of the column, if you've got a bare column shaft and lock you'd need the collar, washer and adapter sleeve to fit the lock and then the steering wheel
21. you have an oil filer to do that job :) I think some gearbox plugs were magnetic though, might be of some use as that oil's not filtered
22. I do the same, then superglue the rubber back up :) Ron, check there is power to the motor when you operate the switch before ripping the regulator out!
23. I don't think the lambda sensor is used until the engine is up to temp, it's usually hot idle probs with the lambda, but it may affect cold running if the ECU goes into limp mode because the lambda is dead.
24. bit of a pain to get at as it's under the alternator/charger, PAS pump etc in the elbow to the bottom of the waterpump, feel the hoses as the car runs from cold up to temp, once at about 75 degrees the stat should open and hot water will flow into the rad, does sound most like a stuck open stat though.
