Wut. May still be a thread somewhere on the forum, I vaguely remember somone fitting a mk4 column complete with mk4 stalks etc, the whole caboodle, by welding the side brackets from the Corrado tube to a mk4 column tube. Pretty neat bit of work and the sturdy design and reach adjustment on the mk4 column would make for a perfect driving position. sorry/cheeky to get your hopes up but it's not just a 5min bolt in :)
-
where are you checking the supply of fuel from the pump from, metering head flow in?
-
you could always go for the mk4 height/reach adjustable column

the finish on new cars is down to the time, cost and type of paints used in the automated production process, was reading the other day about brand new top end BMW's going in for machine cutting and polishing before delivery to 1st owners, to give a top notch finish. The chap I bought my compressor from restored vintage mustangs, to get the quality of mirror finish his customers wanted they did 15 coats of paint with flatting back between each  you should see the depth of shine though, no joke he had a black mustang in his paint booth and you could clearly see the graduation marks all the way down a metre measuring stick held against the paint 8)

both suspension legs out and stripped down now, those top mounting cap nuts were no match for the air impact gun :D other wishbone out, another original one date stamped 1994, in fact so are the strut top mounts, they've done bloddy well  the offside rear wishbone bush just came out of the outer metal sleeve with my fingers, never seen that before, come unbonded from the outer metal rim, both bushes slightly split so definitely on their last legs. you lot'll be learning how to adjust your seats and reset the MFA next  BTW, are you all aware that 1992 on cars have a programmable delay front intermittent wipe... thought that might exite you
-
nothing wrong, just let it cool down before undoing the cap, the system is pressurised when hot so it will spray out of the header tank!

they may still be available new from VAG, but sit down when they quote the price. Jim, I don't see why we couldn't use my 8v covers if you think it's worth doing price-wise although the plastic finish and colour wouldn't be critical on a copy it's not going to be easy or cheap to do I don't reckon, worth asking what cost they would estimate, I's have thought the tooling would be rather steep.
-
attacking the 8v now, tonights escapades included jacking the car up on stands, fitting and setting up the engine support removing both front wheels and starting to strip the suspension and wishbones out. passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfP1010239.JPG[/attachment:3ct60c1q] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfwishbone.jpg[/attachment:3ct60c1q] really good nick this wishbone, original VAG one stamped 1994, rear bushing is shot though, fair enough after all those years and miles 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfP1010246.JPG[/attachment:3ct60c1q] arse, arse and double arse, kindly left for me by one of the previous owners, looks like it's been sheared off for a long time, totally covered in grime before I poked away at it P1010249.jpg[/attachment:3ct60c1q] should be fun to drill out

you're hoping :) no plans to break the 8v, I'm just about to start working on it!

Most Corrados seem to have a 2 pack lacquer on top of the colour, this is indeed very hard wearing compared to the finish on a lot of older Japanese cars (apparently) also the reason why resprayed cars don't seem to have the resistance to stone chips as Acrylic lacquer seems to be used instead on a colour basecoat. Do you guys use a high speed rotary polisher then, or an orbital one?

VW or the likes of GSF around 3 or 4 quid a bottle I think, need 2 for a 5-6 litre system roughly
-
blower fan foliage cover seal

If it's genuinely the original G12 then don't risk it, needs a fulll fush out with water and then totally new coolant if it only needs a top up then just put some water in, more than a litre and I'd change the coolant though, winter coming up and all. G12+ can be mixed with anything though, and if the polo has had a cambelt/waterpump change recently then it should have G12+ in it or a generic pink coolant.

this might do it 800px-Golf2_g60ltd_front.jpg[/attachment:2w3cy05j]

e-bay, high rated shop, I've seen a few second hand sealey/draper/clarke ones go for about 30 quid too, you could always sell a new one on once you've done with it, probably only lose 20-30 quid. google search too, just found this http://www.abbeypowertools.co.uk/car-se ... 53094.aspx seriously though, an engine support post from a user called jack
-
much much safer to get an engine and gearbox support beam that sits on the inner wing tops, that way you can still move the car around if you need to, I bought a new one for little over 50 quid recently.

battery top up water, get a 5L bottle from halfords G11 is blue old style 'sweet' glycol based antifreeze G12/+/++ is purple/red/pink etc and better for the environment, corrosion properties lasts longer
-
water can run in from around the rear lights and forward into the footwells from the door plastic membranes not sealing or being ripped/removed from the heater blower scuttle cover seal
-
cheap voltmeter across the battery terminals with the engine running will tell you, should be 13.5 volts or so.
-
might just do it with 1/2 a litre, depends on how many coats, a metallic green would need 3 or more to build up the colour properly I reckon.
-
not 100% sure what you mean, but I remember the passat rear handles being difficult to set up OK as the lever is a slightly different length to the Corrado handles, you could get a bit of adjustment but it was close to not working.

here you go: c-rear-susp.jpg[/attachment:owep6feh]

I find they usually do up fine with the weight of the car on them, might want to bounce on the back of the car a few times, they don't need to be very tight, just nipped up then.

bottom half has the screw fixing holes that break, if you can get one new I would, chances are a second hand bottom part will be cracked.
