Having the same problem myself. The pump has become noisy over the last few weeks. I have a J reg '91 G60 and was wondering if anyone could tell me which pump I need cause I would like to replace it before it packs up and the car is off the road. @ bigpants baby, Ill take one of those VR6 pumps if it will suit my car.

These ones are half the price  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW

My mpg hasn't altered at all - I removed the boost return & fitted Bosch W5DPO (slightly colder than standard) plugs at the same time. What a boost in performance 8) I went to the CCGB meet at Longleat a few weeks ago & averaged :- 23mpg @ 100mph on the way there (20 mile section of the M5) 38mpg @ 70mph on the way home I'm using a breather filter on the ISV & the cam cover oil breather is vented to atmosphere (piped to the back of the front subframe) Oh - throttle response has improved too 8) @ Steve - Would you recommend the W5DPO plugs on a stage 4 G60 ?

Ahhh this bloody problem. Same with my C over the last few weeks. Found lots of leaves in the scuttle tray so cleared them out and hoped for the best. No luck. Water still getting in. Took seat out yeaterday and pulled carpet back and removed sound padding and dried the floor with a towel. Get a mate to pour water on the windscreen while I was inside and I could see the water coming in. Strange thing was that none of the drian holes were blocked (either scuttle panel drain hole of the sunroof ones) cause the water would trickle out under the car. What I did find though was the plastic casing in the scuttle tray passenger side was not making a good seal and water was leaking in as it built up in the scuttle before draining off onto the ground. The plastic casing covers the blower fan inside the car in the passenger footwell. What you need to do is remove the plastic housing and check the seal which is more then lightly perished. I used some normal silicone sealer yesterday and refitted it. Check the car this morning after some heavy rain and it was dry inside. Just have to get the sound padding dried cause as said above, its smells rank. kinda like cat piss - yulk

Have a read though this thread Matt. Just sorted a small water leak on my G60 over the weekend but it was the plastic flanges on the front and side of the head that were to blame.

How much extra BHP could you expect from a de-cat ?

Ill never forget the aches I had in my back and legs after my four hour trip from Bournmoth to Fishgaurd the day I bought the C. I takes getting used to but now I could drive all day in the C and ill be fine. Its the lower driving position that used to cause me grief cause I like to sit up in the car to feel in control. My Golf with its recaros is perfect for that and I have done many a long haul trip and never had any complaints. But after owning the C for a few months Im nice and comfy and with the adjustment of the steering wheel I have found my desired seating position. I find a low slung position with the seat base on the floor and the steering wheel dropped a bit to be fine. Otherwise your head hits the roof  I havent really noticed any differences support wise between the standard cloth and the leather I now have (non recaro) but apart from looking so so much better they are also a tad softer and are very relaxing to sit in. All I need is a DVD player and fridge and Ill never get out of it (and a petrol attendant in the boot :-P )

Has anybody got part numbers for these pipes. Im pretty sure my are on thier last legs (1300 on MFA - used to get 1600+) and it would be great if I could just ring the dealer and quote the number. Otherwise it could take forever as they search for it. Mark

changing brake fluid and bleeding complete system with ABS
markmcie replied to jedi-knight83's topic in Suppliers Forum
I very much doubt that. Fluid should stay in the pump until you press the pedal and push the fluid out. It will drain from the lines naturally if you just take the claiper off but I cant see the fluid being drained from the ABS and master cylinder unless you pump the brake pedal and dont put new brake fluid in the resivior (you basically suck air into the master cylinder then your gona have lots of bother getting it out) . -

I was told not to let the master cylinder go dry cause you will end up with tons of air in the system and it will take forever to get it all out. Its a messy job changing lines / calipers but just use an old biscut tin or something to catch the old fluid. And dont put your hands near the body of the car for obvious reasons  -

Get the E-Z bleed kit from Halfords or the likes. Is dead handy for bleeding the entire system cause it works off the pressure in your spare tyre and as you open each bleed nipple the pressure pump the new fluid through the system. It also saves you having to pump the pedal and you dont need another person. You know the old fluid is out when you start to see the fresh fluid coming out of the bleed niple. And a brake system holds 2 liters of fluid so once you have used 2 liters + of new stuff you know you more or less have all the old stuff out. -
Here is a great link for refurbish information. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1022742

Ahhh they look well tasty. They should look well on against the red. Have you sealed them up yet ??? Im in the middle of doing mine and got them back from the powder coaters yesterday. A nice dark sublte finish to the centers and some very shiny rims that I won on ebay

There is a level sender switch in the water bottle and if the water is to low it will set the light off. Once the temp gauge dosent go up your okay to drive on till you get it filled up. Just have a good look round your engine bay for signs of water leaks. Check around the radiator, the hoses and clips and where they join the engine.

Super, just the reply I was looking for. The VW department couldnt find it on their system - typical  Keep up the good work guys 8)

Still not finding the part number but here is a pic

Dont know about that thing but I have one of these in my Mk2 16v Golf and it has helped when running on 95 octane petrol. It used to pink a bit when under load and running 95RON. I Used to run it on 97 and the car was much more responsive and no annoying pinking. Then had to revert back to 95 (the garage stopped selling 97) and the car, while still performing fine at top end was a tad unresponsive low down. I then put a broquet 8 pellet bag in the tank and after a couple of tanks I noticed the car was back on form and as responsive using 95 compared to 97. It came highly recomended from a reliable source and is used a lot in high tuned motors for that extra kick. Not an octane booster as such but it deffo made some good results in my 16v. Checked on dyno and now its pushing 145 brake compared to 141 a few months earlier with no broquet and the torque curve is slightly lower which confirmed that car is more willing to rev at low rpm which is nice. http://www.broquet.co.uk

Getting a slight water leak from the G60. The plastic housing at the front of the block were the radiator hose connects needs replacing. Has anyone got the part number handy to save me the hassle when I go to the dealers. Also if anyone has the number for the drivers side rear brake line (the hard line from the bias valve to the caliper) cause I cant get the rubber line off for fitting my braided ones. Cheers Mark

Id be interested to know if the corrado rear bushes fint the mk2 Golf and if they offer any improvments (apart from obviousally replacing knackered old bushes)

Mine can get a bit sticky when the sun comes out but noting unbareable. I dont think it helps with the car being black and the small cockpit. Id imagine with full black leather it would be pretty unbarebale. Air Con would be nice but then you may aswell bust a hole in your fuel tank. @ Geo - nice splits :)

The SUN - are u stil living in Dublin ;)

Im not sure how they would look with the normal rims. But if your going with wider rims (as pictured above) the black centers look dame hot.

Hi all, Wondered if there is an easy way to check for boost leaks. Deffo something not right around the intercooler cause Im finding a fine spray of oil mist in that general area. Thing is its so bloody tight down there Ill have to strip a lot of stuff off before I can see any of the hoses. Is there an easy way to detect a leak ?? Cheers Mark
