Hi and welcome from one newbie to another. I never thought to ask if anyone on here had owned our new Corrado, 94 VR6 auto L906XLK anyone?
-
Tilt the roof up, pull the trim back towards the rear of the car and then you can then put the roof back flat and adjust with the star shaped screws. Just remember to put it back up to tilt before you pull the trim back accross. I did it yesterday, my sunroof is now fully reinstalled and working as intended, for now anyway!
-
sorry dude, I was reading your replies in email form and I couldn't see the links, got it now! Doh!
-
And does it exist or is it like some mythical holy grail, like a Corrado with a working sunroof? Lol!

Excuse my ignorance on this but what is "The Wiki"?

I've bought an extra sunroof and between the THREE that I now have I've managed to make ONE that appears to work, new motor is due tomorrow, once thats in I'm hoping the whole thing should work properly! On the plus side I now have lots of spare sunroof parts and quite a good knowledge of how they work.....I've taken it apart and put it back together five times in one week! If anyone has any specific parts of a sunroof like wind deflectors etc that they need message me and I'll see what we can do!

Sunroof - Need to swap for something that works - Compatible alternatives?
graham1971 replied to Rpmayne's topic in Exterior
I've mentioned on other threads that having fitted my Mk3 cassette and swapping it's glass roof for my metal one I couldn't get a piece to fit, left it off and later discovered that it was the rear rain channel (discovered by turning my wife's Corrado into a giant goldfish bowl). If I now get a Passat B4 glass roof panel does anyone know if I can get the rear channel in without removing the whole thing again? -
One of the bits I left out turned out to be the channel that takes water that gets through the sunroof seal accross the back of the roof to the sides and allows it to escape through the drains. That little mistake resulted in a completely soaked interior this morning and a ver angry Mrs P. Everything I try to fix on the Corrado seems to result in a bigger issue! Gonna need another holiday soon the way this is going!

Sorry Harrier, I'd ordered one online before I saw your post. Turns out I'm not nearly as clever as I thought I was after I changed the roof over, got in the Corrado this morning and it was a bit like having a second shower! There was a piece of the glass roof which didn't fit back into the cartridge when we swapped out for the metal one, didnt seem that important at the time, I now realise it's the channel tht takes water which gets into the back of the sunroof seal and carries it accross to the rain channels on the side, pretty important bit that! !!!!! Now I'm going to have to get another frame and start again, or maybe get the passat moonroof and put that in so the channel fits in place.

I've finally found a set of the BBS centre caps and they should be here in a few days to finish off my wheels. Spent this morning helping (well more watching really) a mate of mine fitting the Mk3 Golf sunroof frame I sourced into the Corrado and swapping the glass roof it came with back to the original metal one. Had to put the sliding sunroof shade in because fitting the original cover back looked pretty impossible to us amateurs as the bits to move the lining when it tilts and slides didnt seem transferrable. I now know why people leave this job and don't bother! All I need now is a sunroof motor that works for a '94 VR6 with a working(ish) sunroof. Anybody know where I can get one or have one to sell?

A mate of mine came over this morning and we fitted the sunroof frame from a mk3 Golf, changing out the glass roof for my metal one in the process. Apart from now having an interior roof to pull back if I tilt instead of sliding, I now know that my sunroof motor is also Kaput! Anyone have a working sunroof motor for a late model VR6 that they're looking to sell?
-
Seems like a trip to the DIY shops may be in order then. Wonder if any of the other existing seals would fit there and do the job?
-
Thanks for the offer, the front and rear ones seem in good nick, I was wondering if there were side ones that ran along the wings. Does seem like a pretty obvious design flaw, whoever was responsible for that clearly never lived in Swansea. Looks like I'll have to find an umbrella for my electrics!
-
I noticed yesterday after cleaning the car that there was a lot of water inside the engine bay, on closer exam I couldn't find any sign of any rubber seals or anything similar around the edges of the engine bay or bonnet lip. Are there supposed to be any seals or gaskets around the edge of the bonnet or engine bay to keep water out whilst the bonnet is closed? Seems odd for there not to be one, there was a lot of water on the electrics when I checked.

Well, she's back from the paintshop (Ian Davies in Pontardulais, Swansea) and she's got her new wheels on. She's starting to look the part but the BBS centre caps I bought on ebay don't fit, still can't track down any with the correct part number so I'm still trying! Anyone want to sell 4x 1H0 601 149G AEV?

I've sourced a mk3 Golf unit and I'm planning to replace the glass with my metal, original one. I've ordered a new seal and I get back to the UK tomorrow so I'll be picking her up from the paintshop. Anyone in Swansea fancy giving me a hand with the swap.? Food and beverages provided? -
I spent endless hours checking on Ebay, there were some on there that I thought MAY be the ones but none had the correct part number and those without a part number seemed like too much risk for the money, they probably are on there somewhere but I wanted to be 100% sure for that price! Out of interest, has any body bought parts from partmaster.co.ua in the past, is it a reliable site?

When I said center caps I should have been more specific. They're a three piece item, a center, a hex nut and a disc on the outside that covers the recess containing the wheel nuts entirely, more like a three piece hub cap for an alloy wheel in effect. I just paid $175 to a firm in the Ukraine who claim to have oem in stock. Couldn't find them ANYWHERE else. Watching the news has taken on a little less humanitarian feeling for at least until my parts can get here! How awful is that?
-
Will do but I can't seem to find the centre caps, I'm told they're on the list of obsoleted parts you just can't get anymore, if so Mrs P may actually kill me! Part number is 1H0 601 149 G AEV any ideas? Anyone?

the fun begins.... First piccie is one of my dogs admiring the mysterious crop circle in the garden then my Arch, Roof and Sunroof after the repair, then pictures of the same before. Dent Master on Ebenezer Street in Swansea did all four dents for £80, had to get the worst out because she's going for some new paint on Thursday.

Just bought a set of BBS RS from VW Classic Parts, the center caps have been discontinued, anyone know where I can find a good set or even a part number of something else that will fit? Part number 1H0 601 149 G AEV

I just bought a set of BBS alloys from vw classic parts. The centre caps have been discontinued. Does anyone know where I can get good centre caps, part number 1HO 601 149 G AEV with the VW badge on, I've found them with BBS on but I'd prefer the others.Or any other part number that would fit?

I've just bought a mk3 cassette and I'll stick with the original metal panel for now. The diy write up is awesome, can't wait to give it a go! -
Just spent hours reading this thread, now feeling somewhere between excited and petrified! I realise that my list of work I would like to do may turn into a longer list including all the new stuff I'll have to do. I'll start taking pictures before I get the jobs done too, I can't see me doing a blog quite as detailed and interesting as this one though. Can't wait to see Sean's car finished, never mind mine!
