Well, quite some time since the last post. Car off the road for the Winter & planned to have it back out in May. That didn't quite work out as the 'Corrado's radiator sprung a leak! So, some time spent sourcing new parts, Hella radiator, new radiator & fan housing, radiator flange, new fixings etc. Thankfully a well known chap (thanks mate :thumb right:) on here came to the rescue to do it for me (my back doesn't allow me to play with cars anymore) at the garage as by this time the the car had no MOT or tax plus with a leaky radiator didn't want to chance driving it. It all went pretty well, I think, & took the car for an MOT & pleased to say it passed with no advisories. Always a relief! Quick picture back in the garage, new MOT & tax, ready to go. Just need the time to get out in it!!

That's a nice looking Corrado, hope you've set a healthy reserve on it! If it was mine i would have sold it on the forum. Probably a lot less hassle.

BE VERY AWARE!!! posting parts via parcelforce
Mystic Blue VR replied to lilfuzzer's topic in Off-topic Chat
Gutted for your Chris. My mate recently had a very expensive TR6 gearbox & overdrive unit damaged by UPS. Denied all knowledge of it & blamed the sender!! I work in logistics & deal with couriers every day. I think most of them are much of a muchness to be honest. That said DPD seem very good & have an excellent tracking system & their delivery slots are normally quite accurate. Try Interparcel, which is a site a lot of couriers use for business, & compare rates, terms, insurance etc. -
Back for a second go! Storm in Mystic Blue in Teesside

Welcome back. Nice to see another Mystic Blue Storm in the NE. :thumbleft: -
I'm pretty much in the OEM camp myself. Only mods to mine are -30mm H&R springs, uprated headlight loom & TT wipers. Of course, all down to personal taste.

Nice to see he's taken the time to write a thorough advert & prep the car. A tad optimistic with the price I think! :shocked!:

I've just bought a set from Mr Retro Leads on eBay but I messaged him & asked for a set made from 7mm wire so they fit in the engine covers. Which he duly obliged & I had them within a few days. Excellent quality & service. He might make you just the two if you ask him but I imagine he'll need the length measurement. Here's the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111376024327?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Won't be cheap but have you tried VW Classic Parts? I was in a similar situation recently needing a fan housing for my VR6 & couldn't find one but got one from VW Classic. Excellent website, easy to use, & the part came from Germany in about five days.

Think Darren is 'Dazza Storm' on here & Facebook.

Thanks for info.:thumbleft:

I was thinking of buying some of those leads from Mr Retro. Do they fit into the channels on the engine cover's?

Going to swear now! Radiator plastic/elbow.
Mystic Blue VR replied to Rich the Chef's topic in Engine Bay
Can the captive nuts in the radiator be 'tapped' back down? You could thread lock the bolt in place but I doubt you will be able to torque it up enough to seal. You might need a new radiator I'm afraid unless anyone else comes along with a solution. -
You need one of these https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/535121687/seal-for-water-take-off-535-121-647-mk2-golf/?crumbStartPage=3&crumbStartRow=66 Make sure there are no cracks in the plastic elbow. VW Heritage sell these too but are out of stock until next week.

Chris Gaskells old Storm on Autotrader - 17K!!
Mystic Blue VR replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Exactly the same thing has happened with MK1 & MK2 Escorts. My old RS2000, which was very original with a sensible amount of owners, changed hands recently for 25K plus. No where near that when I had it. Since then the car has changed hands many times (in excess of 20 owners now I reckon) & each time it was sold the price went up. As good, original Corrado's become difficult to find the price is only going one way. Supply & demand I'm afraid. -
Still looking.
-
Come on lad's someone must have one!

After a VR6 radiator/fan support. Must be suitable for refurb unless anyone has one already done they don't need. Please PM if you have anything.

More Exposure for the Corrado - Modern Classics Magazine
Mystic Blue VR replied to Chuggs1's topic in General Car Chat
Just got my copy & read the article. Great, the Corrado trounced the opposition & they really liked it! All for the greater good as they say. Well done to Chuggs. :thumbleft: -
That's bloody annoying! The general standard of driving get's worse & I've seen some terrible things in car parks. It's a fact that most people don't take a pride in their car so scuffs, scrapes & dings are the norm for them. I never park in a supermarket car park if I can help it, with any car, & would rather park a mile away & walk the rest. If I have to it's always the furthest point from the entrance to avoid the those idiot's!
