  1. Did you try ebay? You might get them cheaper than £15...
  2. Great pics. Lovely cars in there.
  3. Hmmm I think you're right. They don't suit the silver that well. Changing the bolts for chrome ones would help though...

    Motorshow!!!

What wheels were on the mk2? Some of them had 15 inch bbs ras on. The mk3 anniversary gti had 16 inch bbs splits on it as standard was the mk3 one of those?
  5. Fcuk that is some motor. Colour, wheels (especially the wheels), interior everything 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
  6. I have seen the results of this type of work and the guys are correct about it not lasting too long. But if you keep the area polished (which no doubt you will but "normal" people wouldn't ) it shouldn't go matt as quickly I would say.
  7. :roll:And you know what the really fcuked up thing is? Someone will buy it and all...

    nitrous

Ask this guy: http://www.nitroussolutions.com/ He has a mk1 golf with a (beefed up) 2.0 16V putting out 275bhp or thereabouts.....
  9. Did you see what clarkson did with the salad when he was talking about the slr mclaren. Fcuking hilarious.. 8)
  10. They were moaning about the mkV golf GTI also :x Said it was heavier than the focus RS and had 15bhp less....
  11. Agreed, the noise of the V8 and the whine of the supercharger......beautiful! And that was listening to it on crap tv speakers. Imagine what it sounds like in reality!
  12. I agree. It's miles better than the autoglym stuff but nowhere near as good as swissol/zymol (but then it's nowhere near as expensive either)
  13. Sounds like a bad earth connection to me. Try the earth connection on the battery and if that's ok then follow the main earth wire from the battery to where it is bolted to the gearbox and check the connection there. Check it out before you try to start the car again because if the earth isn't making a good connection it could fry your ecu...
  14. The crank sensor picks it's signal up from the flywheel doesn't it??? Therefore it's nowhere near the internals of the engine so that would have nothing to do with it at all. Those metal filings were probably from the clutch...
  15. New oil might stop it for a while. If the car has been idle this sometimes happens to them and it goes away usually with an oil change, but if not you'lll have to change it. I don't think they are expensive (a tenner each from GSF maybe??) but it is quite a big job to replace them as the camshaft has to come out, so unless you are doing it yourself you might as well replace them all at the same time as the labour required is pretty much the same for all 8 as it is for 1.
  16. Was that for a set of mk2 golf G60 edition one rims earlier in the week? He had a set for sale that I was going to bid on but then I was busy when the auction was finishing.
  17. The coolant light problem must be a fault with the level sensor in the header tank. check and clean the connections to it and if that doesn't work try taking the sensor itself out and cleaning it.
  18. This can be really hard to get rid of. The only thing to do is flush it a few more times, but not straight away. Make sure theres plenty of coolant in the water to prevent any more rust from building up and just flush it when the water goes brown. It'll go away eventually.
  19. Sounds like an isv problem since when you tapped it the idle went back to normal. However, it would be worth checking and cleaning the contacts on the plug before you go buying a new one. (a penny under £40 quid on ebay for a new VDO one btw)
  20. It'd be a nice leisurely 30 minutes, with time to make a cup of tea while the oil was draining out of the car. That's how much labour a garage would probably charge you anyway
  21. dear dear me....you know before the pictures went up I was thinking I have to see this car, but now that I have seen it I wish I hadn't, especially so soon after lunch... :?

    Me Storm...

Lovely looking car. Looks mint in the pictures. What mileage is on it? Nice mk1 in the 3rd pic as well btw...

    Whats that noise?!

That's exactly it. When you turn the key the starter gear moves out and engages with the flywheel. What's wrong with yours is that it's notsliding back smoothly on the shaft. It's a common problem with all vws.
