Been wondering about throwing an abf in a certain G60...
-
Damn :( Will keep me eyes open for ya m8. Edit:Posted on the Volksdevil forum here Neil.

Stick a bit of silicone in the ring of the grommet (the bit that the bodywork sits in) if you know what i mean. You can buy little tubes of silicone from most half decent car parts places...top gear etc. Neil.

Cheers guys... As far as i know vag-com should read the abs...just strange about the wiring here... Would be interesting to see where everyone elses plugs under the gear lever gaitors lead to? Like i say, mine both lead into a dead end plastic block :? I will try get around to testing the resistance of the sensors if i can plump up the enthusiasm. :( Just problem on top of problem... Neil.
-
They both (the two plugs) just plug into a black plastic block that connects to nothing :?
-
Cheers for the suggestion... Just one quick question, Would vag com plug in under the gear lever? Its just that i have seen that these 2 plugs lead to nowhere (a dead end :? ) when i swapped the whole interior from grey to black... Neil.

Also...Just as importantly...Be absolutely sure to use microfibre applicators and microfibre cloths for removal...Any mutton rag type crap will be continuously battling against the products that you are using and the time/effort you are putting in. Very important. Neil.

Aye...But it all depends on how soft the paint is Jim. A little paint colour on the cloth isn't actually a bad sign at all,if anything its at the stage where its actually telling you its very much ready for a wax... If you tend to get a lot showing on the cloth everytime...Best to jump back to a paint cleaner/one more polish/then wax...Just as a final preperation if you will for wax. After this stick with washing/waxing for a good few months and you will find that next time you polish it won't bleed as much...But just as importantly your paint is well prepped and should be looking good. At this stage you will have reached a level where the paint is easily kept on top of,and will require only washing/waxing with he odd polish inbetween, the amount of times you polish depends on how well its prepped from the start and how soft the paint is. Its a minefield  Neil.

92 G60. ABS Light stays on once ive started the car...If i coast down the road and turn ignition off/back on then the light goes out. What does this mean? Neil.

Guys...Waxing/sealing isn't the absolute trick here... Basically be sure to keep polishing, along with waxing obviously. You have to keep the paint fresh,a wax/sealant will degrade no matter how expensive. No wax/sealant in the world will protect from uva/uvb degredation at 100% efficiency for 100% of the time its on the car,so its a slow sliding scale degredation that will eventually show up as faded paint. Seriously, keep on top with a polish as often as you can (even inbetween waxing) everyones mad on bloody wax! Thinking that a shine/protection only comes from wax! It dosn't. Fading comes from uva/uvb degredation as above, plus fine scratches refracting light all over the place...Polishing using correct implements/techniques keeps the paint clean, keeps on top of fine scratches, and helps win the battle vs uva/uvb. Neil.

If there is enough of the plastic tab left...pop a hole in it and use tie wraps? Neil.

Seriously...Try http://www.gocompare.com No spammy emails, and easy to use. Most importantly, knocked £150 quid off my last years policy. They quoted me £350 fully comp on the G60,27 yrs old, previous ban.Although tbh your quote dosn't seem bad for your age...even with the low mileage.(edit:assuming g60!) Neil.

I know the type of noise (is that a good thing? ) Id say thats probably sticky springs/top mounts/suspension related m8...Ive had it in the past. Probably worth checking the subframe bolts/engine mounts if you have a look too. Man...All these noises are getting on my t|ts  Neil.
-
The car care gear and domain names? Aye...twas me. Throw me a pm/email if you have any questions m8. Neil.

Aye...ill always be about on the forums :D Have to keep the Volksdevil guys n girls in check if anything  I don't think ill ever go for a corrado again though :( Just totally fallen out with em...especially after struggling to line up a genuine vw rear engine mount today...Bloody holes didn't line up :( As for the problem...Still unsure what it is, gonna have a look through a mates bentley manual so i can figure out what spins and what dosn't  Neil.
-
Cheers m8 and aye, tell me about it :( The bloody abs light started coming on the same time as i first heard this too! Back on the road for now...Got some cheapy insurance sorted, but its going to one of three! prospective buyers within the next month...or should be. I really can't be ar$ed taking the box out :( ! Neil.

update Ok...If i sit with the engine ticking over and hold the clutch in for a few seconds, and then release it. I get what i think is the noise. Any idea's? Surely its gotta be something thats spinning as its like its taking up drive/play? Please help, car is supposed to be sold in a few weeks... Neil.
-
Jacked the passenger side up earlier, spinning the wheel a little left/a little right quickly and you can hear the noise. While a m8 did this,i grabbed the driveshaft and can feel the noise. :? Then grabbing the flange on the gearbox you can turn it and there is play, should there be some? It also moves in/out a little and makes a noise but i think in/out movement is fine? (A little?) Thing is...We spun the wheel on another corrado g60,and it makes the same noise, with the same amount of play (turning flange/in and out too) But the noise is very loud on mine while driving on/off throttle. Dunno what to check next really? How much play (turning) should there be in the flange on the box?
-
Will check the driveshaft weights, cheers m8. Am i right in saying there is only the one on the drivers side? no passenger side? It definately does it on/off throttle, does it under the same conditions that a tired engine mount would show up...But its definately in the moving running gear somewhere... Feckin abs light has just come on half hour ago as well. Neil.
