Cheers guys...Manny,the pump is totally dffarent on shiraz's...reyt big numb silly thing on the corrado, diffarent pressure too. May give you a shout tommorow re:the bentley manual. Aye...will have a look, was thinking i may be able to wire the new pump to the old sender, and just cable tie the old sender to new pump, just while i run it in the unit...hopefully i should instantly be able to tell if the problem dissapears. Hope to god it works... Neil.

I was up at the unit earlier, reading some tech stuff i kindly got sent off someone on cgti...Not a lot i haven't already checked... But! I did read that the fuel pressure (after turning engine off) should hold at 2bar for 10 minutes...(iirc) When the guy tested my fuel pressure,as soon as the engine was turned off the pressure dropped to zero pretty much straight away...maybe 5 seconds. Now i have already replaced the fpr... so i guess im asking if this would point to the pump? im sure i read somwhere that the pump has a non return valve built into it or something? Cheers,Neil. Pump turns up tommorow, but the sender to go with it may be a couple of weeks :( I may try the pump on its own without the sender hooked up,what ya reckon?

Man...id kill to own one :D Cosworth built blocks in my favourite car of all time 8) Anyone got good vids of their oldskool fave motors? Neil.
-
That does sound massively tempting tbh m8! Just a case of money...But i think ill see what happens with the fuel pump, and then see about getting it to Darren. I just dont want to bug anyone... Neil.
-
Im 28 years young in september potatonet, why you ask m8? I hear what you say about the sender...but im an stupid perfectionist...drives me mental  The vr's are a nice smooth engine i must admit...But i must also admit that im not really a fan of either > g60 or vr6  I like my normally aspirated, high revving, twin carbed 4 pots.

Thats the thing Jim,I really have tried everything. I think...Ive only got the fuel pump to try (when it turns up) and thats it! Ill try calm down with the posting anyway, but i do hope the fuel pump sorts it...and i would like to know why the fuel pump no longer 'runs on' as per one of my recent threads. If (when) sommet else breaks...ill just hit it with a hammer :D

Aye...ya not wrong m8 :( I bought this one on condition rather than engine choice too...really wish i hadn't bothered buying it.I hate to say that...but its been the worst car ive ever owned. :( Neil.

Been there unfortunately...well...on the verge of a heart attack to be precise, through stress/other personal things :( I am a bit of an obsessive compulsive persistant perfectionist...not a good thing tbh. I just cant possibly travel a 600+? mile round trip to darren and then have the car left there..would cost a fortune, with possibly having to stay somewhere etc :( I am really depressed by it all as you can probably tell...embarrassing really.
-
I haven't done m8,but yep...ive been told that i need the sender too. :( Tis on back order he said,so ill see if i can order it tommorow... Cheers,Neil.
-
Cheers m8. How would i go about sorting this problem? I thought it was triggered by the fuel pressure switch on the end of the fuel rail...right hand side? Neil.
-
Just paranoid about this comment i received on youtube
-
Cheers Steve, It does have a standard fit immobiliser...but the fuel pump still primes etc? Neil.
-
Thanks again m8...will have to borrow somew more cash :( I hope to GOD this sorts my problem :(
-
Just remembered he said the senders were on back order too... :( What are these new plastic hoses m8? do they come with the sender or something? Cheers,Neil.
-
Damn...had a sneaky suspicion after seeing some pics on vortex... :( Cheers m8. Neil.
-
Manny, that sounds plausable to me m8...May look into it,if i can be bothered...getting sick of messing now. Have decided 100% now that im just gonna sort it whatever it takes (money permitting) and then get shot...pointless having it sat there doing nowt... Will keep the borbet a's...and sell it with the porsche rims.

Ive ordered a fuel pump (in tank) for my late g60...The guy said it could come with all the sender and everything or just on its own...so i ordered just the pump. Will the new pump just simply connect to all the original sender etc? And has anyone done this, got any info/pointers? Neil.

Ive just been searching and have come across something that caught my attention... I can't remember the last time i heard my fuel pump 'run on' after turning the car off... Any problems that this will cause? Maybe just the 'not starting first turn of the key' ? But what about the popping/slow revving im having trouble with? Can i bridge the wiring to the fuel pressure switch (on the end of the fuel rail) to see if it runs the pump? that would point to the pressure switch being faulty right? Neil.
-
Here's hoping m8! Anyone else any thoughts on the above? or are people getting bored of this now? ps:My dad has kindly lent me the cash for a fuel pump...ive told him tuff sh|t if it dosn't fix the problem, but he reckons it will so... Had a look at the pump earlier in the tank...looks like it will be fun to change :? and ive ordered the bare minimum (still £130 quid  ) so im unsure if i need anything else...?
-
Feckinhell thats all i need.

If a cop is sat in the back of a van, using a speed gun or whatever it is they use...And you have german plates, can they get ya? Neil.

Yep,i bought a new idle screw with the 'o' seal! Ive just been searching and have come across something that caught my attention... I can't remember the last time i heard my fuel pump 'run on' after turning the car off... I think im probably clutching at straws here...but you don't think its anything to do with the problem do you? Maybe just the 'not starting first turn of the key' ? But what about the popping/slow revving? Can i bridge the wiring to the fuel pressure switch (on the end of the fuel rail) to see if it runs the pump? that would point to the pressure switch being faulty right? Neil.

RH cups are a seriously under rated rim...one of my faves. 8) Mines running the a's 9x16 all round, must admit though...they do sit well on 15's too imo. 8)

Superb, thanks for that m8 8) The actual rpm is steady as you like...but yet the timing marks jump about...Just cant understand it :( May be a stupid question...But could a tired fuel pump somehow cause it? If its tired and the rpm+load asks for x amount of fuel...and then the fuel isn't delivered in the correct amount, the lambda would pick that up right? And maybe ask for more fuel? Sorry, just trying to get my head around it... Ps:If anyone has a pic of how the coil should be wired up,that would be handy...which wires on which side. Neil.
-
Cheers m8... Now,what could cause that spark to bounce back and forth? (going off the mark on the crank pully/or flywheel) Imagine you are setting ignition timing, holding rpm at 2k or 2.5k...and the mark is jumping backwards/forwards...not stable, what could be the cause? Neil.
