This is lifted from another thread of mine.... "For replacing the heating elements I used an aftermarket self adhesive 12V heating foil. If you search for a company called Conrad electronics online, they are uk based. Go to their search and put in "Heating foil 100x65 mm pair" and you should go straight to the page. With mine they heat the central portion of the glass, which is good enough for me. They do make a larger one "Heating foil 130x70 mm pair" but it uses more power, and I didn't want mine heating all the way to where the adhesive was holding them on to the frame. These bigger ones might work better with a resistor in series to lower the voltage and reduce the temperature rise a bit (even the small ones get hot)."

Yeah, but you can buy stick on 12v heating elements for about 8 pounds from Conrad Electronics and then they're heated ;)

Bump for parts still available

Welcome to the forum. Plenty out there in the build threads on performance gains for G60's. It depends how deep your pockets are (or how skilled you are) really. 250+bhp is possible, however not easily. Ported head, FMIC, decent exhaust and stage 4 charger should be good for about 210-220bhp, beyond that it'll be a rebuild and capacity increase really. The chip is the key to these really - you can do all the modification in the world, but without the right chip then you wont feel the benefit.

Thanks Jon.

HOW TO FIT RED ILLUMINATION SWITCHES
JMC replied to C488ADO's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
Yep you can use them for the windows if they are lower voltage, however bear in mind LEDs have come along way in the last few years and they may be quite dim compared the ones you can buy now. Oh and if you can't find flat top disperive ones which are ideal for switches - take a nail file to the normal ones and flatten them off a bit. Not quite the same but definately better than leaving them domed in terms of dispering the light. -

If their older the chances are they are 5v ones. Also whats resiatnce are the resistors - you need to use the right ones to get the voltage down from 12v to the correct voltage for the LED. -
Money received and memory sent thanks Jay. Processor and cooler still available folks.... Jon, could you change the OP to say the processor and cooler are still up for sale. Alternatively if you prefer I can start a different for sale thread.
-
Hi Jay - looks like you can't receive PM's - I get a message saying you've exceeded your quota. I can do either paypal or bank transfer (to be honest I prefer bank transfer as I get charged to receive paypal - unless you are happy sending it as a gift?). Let me know either way and I can send details. Let me know your address and I'll get it off today. If the PM systems still not behaving you can reach me on email jmc67 at btinternet com

The chips I have for sale are marked up as DDR2 so they should compatible :) However I will bow to the judgement of our computer expert on this.... Quick note - these chips are 240 pin (120 each side) if that helps.

HOW TO FIT RED ILLUMINATION SWITCHES

Something to add here - the window switches are not 12v led's, for bothe early and late window switches so you need the normal low voltage ones for those (between 3-5V are all fine there). -
Ok cherers Jay. After what happened here, even if there is a quicker way to check, still open up the PC to make sure, lol. Let me know where you come out...
-
Doh, can of worms with the dibs thing again. JayGT you've put that you want it 1st after it has been reposted - as it stands I'm happy to sell it to you (unless the mods advise differently). Let me know your address, and we can sort out payment details.
-
Right, due to a tactical error by myself, none of this lot fits my mother board, so, as I am in no position to change my entire system I'll offer 'em up for what I paid for them (see prices at beginning of thread) if you're happy with me keeping the thread open Jon? It's the RAM, chip and cooler.
-
Hi Jon, the parts arrived today. WIll fit them tonight and let you know how it goes. BTW, I can't send you a PM - says your inbox/message quota is full.
-
Tips - yep, be careful, and do it vertically when you open it. On the late style switches there are some small springs and contacts which are easy to lose (speaks from experience), and be careful when you put them back in not to force them. If you have a set of small watch makers screwdrivers the switches are easy enough to get into.

HOW TO FIT AN AMERICAN SPEC 3RD BRAKE LIGHT
JMC replied to C488ADO's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
Here's mine - near the bottom of page 3. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=34451&start=30 Cheapy ebay one fitted into the top of the rear window trim. -
Hi Jon, just checked my system and it's been a while since I updated it. Running a P4 and 1Gb Ram  , so will take the processor, cooler, and ram please. Let me know how you want paying.
-
I know it's madness. Started on building a new centre consol for the Max Extreme controller as I wanted it flush with the dash, however I may just scrap that idea and get it in there. Unfortunately moving house recently has meant it takes second place. Good luck with it and keep us updated - don't seem many VW's running gas.
-
Oooh, much as I hate to use the 'dibs', first dibs on the processor, fan and RAM until I can get home and check what my system will take pease John.
-
Oh God, you're making me feel bad now - I've had a WON kit in the loft for nearly 2 years now, which I really need to get round to fitting to my G60. Start with the 25bhp nozzles, and then go from there. I presume you're running a progressive controller, so start it soft and build up over a few seconds. Depending on how good your piston rings are I would have thought 50bhp was perfectly safe. There is a guy on here who has used nitrous on his VR so he'll hopefully be along with advice as well.

About half way down this page are some shots of the Mk4 washers on mine... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=34451&start=345

Something regarding air filters on G60's guys. I did a back to back dyno run with a standard air filter and a K&N and found the standard one better at high revs. This was something G-werks had told me for ages - the standard air filters are the best for G60's - but I tend to try and dyno test any mods I can. On my setup - 1.9l G60, running about 250bhp on Stealths rollers, I run a standard air filter but on a slightly cutaway air box and a cold air feed from under the bumper. I've run the boost return mod for a while but went back to standard as i) I didn't like the constant whistle on part throttle, and ii) I got fed up with the fine oil mist in my engine bay all the time. The biggest gains with the G60's are getting them to breath properly - head (and cam) work and manifold work. They then run more efficiently. I get over 30mpg on a long run still, which is not bad considering I am generating over 50% more bhp than stock.
-
Good to see someone wanting to keep these running - they do have such a distinct sound and character. With it having the boost return delete done, make sure you lubricate the charger occasionally (Gwerks used to sell some PTFE spray specifically fo this).

You're welcome, and Johns speaks some wise words there. The pursuit of power and lightness can quickly become an obsession. While the G can be tuned quite a long way, it becomes expensive quickly after you've done the simple pulley and chip options. If you're after big numbers (>250bhp) then best to think of a 1.8 20V Turbo conversion as firstly it will get you there quickly and secondly will be cheaper.
