  1. I had mine blanked off for a while. Got fed up of a nice oil mist in the engine bay, then got fed up of emptying an oil catch tank every few weeks (as it was mostly water), also got fed up of the constant whistle from the underside of the throttle body. Got a silencer from Darren which got rid of the noise and made a big difference, but the oil mist was still annoying. I've now put my pipework back on. It's now less intrusive noise wise, no oil vapour, and no perceptible loss in performance. The only thing I miss is the slight dump valve like sound when changing gear.
  2. Cheers Kev, Thought that would be the case, but wanted to check first.
  3. Just got an aftermarket radiator fan for my G60. Opened it up and noticed it only has 2 leads so presumably is single speed. Now what's the best way to wire this in to my current G60 wiring (which has 2 speed settings)?? Any advice from someone who's already done this would be great.
  4. OMG that is a huge amount of money  - I bought a Bosch sensor here for £80 ($160). Hope it fixes your problem though.
  5. Sounds like a plan.... The only issue is that you would need to have the front of the hard drive somewhere in line of site as that is also controlled by remote control. In theory it wouldn't be too difficult though and a leather covered dash would look very, very good 8) Another alternative would be to use a DVD playing headunit (like te Alpine 9861) and then there is no need for the hard drive of course.
  6. Fitted a hard drive and screen to keep the passenger happy....
  7. Got the hard drive and screen properly installed in the car today. Decided to mount the hard drive unit in the glove box. The screen is yet to be fixed somewhere as I am not 100% on where it is going to go. Sound works through the Aux In on my Alpine, and the 160Gb hard drive currently has enough to keep the passenger happy (all of Futurama, half a dozen films and about 6 hours of music videos). Dead chuffed with it all especially as it all came to less than £200. Now where to mount then screen....

    I smell Fuel?

There's another one on the right and side of the fuel rail as you look at it Furkz (just behind/below the ISV). It's U shaped and goes to the pressure sensor. Mine was weeping there at both ends, but only really slightly. Might be worth checking. New pipe cured it. Problem is as the engine warms up it's often difficult to see where it's coming from. Good luck with it.
  9. Cheers folks, looks as though there isn't a major problem then. I was just a bit surprised that I couldn't turn the feet blower off, until I switched it to windscreen.
  10. This may or may not be a problem, I just need someone who is confident that their slider heater controls to check something please... Ever since I've had my G60 (so about 3 years), the heater slider has never worked how I think it should. However I've never checked another one out so don't know. Now it's not got any worse, and nothing feels broken. With the controls in the following positions I get air out of the following vents. Slider set to face, air from face and feet vents Slider set to face + feet, little bit of air from face and lots from feet vents Slider set to feet, little bit of air from face, and lots from feet vents Slider set to windscreen, tiny bit from face and feet vents, and some through the windscreen (although only the drivers side) Please, can someone check theirs for me and see if this is normal  or is it possessed
  11. Well I hooked the harddrive up to the Aux in on my Alpine 9815 this afternoon, uisng a cable I got from US Ebay for less than it would have cost me in the UK (madness, £9 shipped from the us, and £12 here). Guess what, it worked. Always amazed when these things work first time. Right time for a celebratory beer now :D :D
  12. Nah, not silly Dom. I prefer the term 'dedicated' I really, really want to get the Alpine in there somewhere as it is a fantastic looking headunit, but I really really want to keep the sound processing from my 9815. Might have to hold out for one of the new Alpine processors, they should be available soon :D
  13. Big thumbs up for Riley, bought a Richbrook tax disk holder. Great price and arrived next day.
  14. As I have nothing better to do on a friday evening, I've just made a up a loom to operate the hard drive and screen from the cigarette lighter (just to see if it works). Amazingly it did  for about 10 seconds  . Found out that I need to have the engine running (and hence charging the battery) for the controller for the screen to work, and I'm using the 12V out from that to power the harddrive. The screen controller says it is expecting a 13.2V supply. Looks like either a yellow top battery, or be resigned to run it only when the engine is running. Decisions, decisions....
  15. At the moment yep, although the Necvox control box has a splitter so it can run a second screen. Still going to keep my Alpine 9815 and run either the 9861 or the multimedia harddrive as "Aux In" as I like the sound processing of the 9815.
  16. Cool, just had all the bits turn up for a new project - thought it was about time to make something new, and AV sounded like it would keep me occupied for a bit. Anybody have any do's and don'ts for getting video into the car??

    new fogs

Oooh smart. That looks really good. :thumbleft:
  18. I can second Mikes suggestion. Jabbasport chips are notorious for dumping in too much fuel. I had Darren and Steve at G-Werks write me a custom chip for mine, and it is very, very good. One of the SNS standard ones should be good for you. As for what to expect - depends on which rolling road you take it to (according to the Performance Tuning rag anyway). I've used the Surrey Rolling Road (in Longcross) before at a couple of CF open days and they are a nice bunch and realistic about power figures. Along with power and torque they can also have a look at boost pressure and have a wide band AFR - although that is stuffed up the exhaust. With your mods, probably around 185 bhp ish at the fly.

    JMC's G60

Did you ever get one of these? If so - where from and how much may I ask? Yep, did buy one. Got it from G-Werks along with a load of other bits. Think it was about £30 for everything, but they are standard vag parts (just for the VR6). Got rid of the toothed belt though, after eating 2 belts in a month.
  20. Thats brilliant, well done Nikki.....

    Blue Mirrors

I've got the blue DDI ones. Took some getting used to with the curvature, but I think they are very good now, and I hardly notice the writing anymore....

    gearbox help

First thing to check is actually on the gear stick itself. Just under the gaitor there is a shaft which the gear leaver pivots on with a little sprint clip on the end. This spring clip often comes off, resulting in difficult gear changes. Cost - a few pence, and easy to check.
  23. Cool, that's what I'm after, thanks baz. You're right though - not cheap, good job it was payday yesterday.
  24. Replaced a dodgy old fuel pipe and mine, and for the first time in ages I didn't get that nice whiff of petrol this morning. Yay. Also put my boost return pipe back one cos I'm an old man, and don't like the thin film of oil in my engine bay.
  25. As it says in the title really. I'm after a polished fire extinguisher for leaving in my cab, but would prefer one without chavvy flames on it. Saw a completely polished one in PVW a few years ago, but am begining to think the guy may have polished it himself. Anybody know if/where I can get one from please???
