Yeah, got the feeling Alpine would be the way forward. Would be in keeping with my headunit as well. It's just the cost that's a pain with them. Any more thoughts anyone.....

Big thank you to g-dub for the G60 boost return pipe. Quick delivery, well packaged up and good price.

I'm thinking about the next project, and was wanting to see if anyone had any recommendations about dash mount screens. Not after a fold out one, just a normal screen. Would love Alpine obviously, but cost there would be an issue. Have heard good things about Lilliput ones as well. Basically anybody have any experience using these, and if so what are your thoughts???

Anyone know where I can get bits of interior trim from?
JMC replied to Jay2's topic in Suppliers Forum
Got mine from the dealers about a year ago (about 20p each). Shame they're now obsolete as they are always coming off. -
Yep, sounds like a charger oil seal to me as well. If it is that then it's an easy fix (for G-Werks anyway). It can be run without the charger but you'll need a different belt (and it will feel slow). Have a chat with G-Werks and they should be able to help.

Or if you want DDI so some really, really nice aluminium ones.

Bought my Compomotives straight from Compomotive (had them made with an extra 5mm offset to space the wheels out a bit more and give me some more clearance)....
-
I've got 305mm disks and Porsche calipers under my 16" MO's, and it;s farily tight, but not "down to the millimeter" tight.

Cheers, thanks Darren.

Can someone who has a G60 throttle body sitting on their shelf do a quick measurement for me please. I'm after the diameter of the pipe coming out of the bottom of it, where the boost return would normally sit. Looks to be just over an inch, but I haven't got a set of callipers here. Many thanks.

One that works???

How have you secured your sub box/amps down
JMC replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Screwed the amps to the back of the rear seat, and used an audioscape sub box (threaded bolt as Dinkus mentioned above). -
That sounds familiar. I've used the black vinylkote from woolies (I jest you not - http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk) and it is very good. Great stuff and soaks into the plastic rather than just coating it. Give them a bell - they may be able to colour match yo the beige (if they don't already have it).

Fantastic looking motor. Like the 'gills' - were they easy enough to do??

Project Shadow - NEW ROLLING ROAD RESULTS Pg8 and VIDEO!!
JMC replied to LisaK's topic in Members Gallery
Hi Mike, sorry I missed you at No-Rice. Yeah, was wondering about that, however mine happily goes along around 0.8bar between 3500 and 5800rpm, then by 6000 it has dropped to 0.6 bar. Presumably if it tried to go above 0.8 bar it will only vent until it gets back to 0.8 bar. Wonder if it's detecting knock and backing off?? -

Love the car - black on black. Looks like well, mine, with that colour scheme. Soooo, big thumbs up :thumbleft: Good power and torque curve, but why the drop off after 5500 - mine does it too above 6000, but never had a satisfactory explanation as to why???? -

Wow, I'm just amazed at how quickly this is going ahead. -
PSD are next door to G-Werks, and they work with the SNS chips so no worries there. If you are having probs give them a bell (details on their website http://www.pitstopdevelopments.com/).

Just a big thank you to Darren and Lee for a good job on servicing my G60 yesterday. Always a good reception down there, whether it is a really simple job or more fun work.

With regards to the oil filter on the breather. Looks like you've had a boost return fitted (removal of the pipe from the bottom of the throttle body, picking up a feed from the oil breather, and the heading back into the right hand side of the charger). You will get a mist of oil over the inside of the bay from that. Best to fit a tube going off underneath the car from the oil breather, or fit a catch tank. Other possibility is that you've blown a seal in the charger, then you'd get loads of oil coming out from the bottom of the throttle body. Hate to say it, but time to clean it all up and check where it is coming from. IMHO the oil is probably not connected with the blowing from the manifold.
-
Stage 5 chip sounds like it's one of the SNS ones - a good one to have, as the Jabba chips tend to overfuel massively. Also it will have 'anti-lag' on it, which will make the car feel and behave a lot better over the original chip. As for the blanking plate, on the original system there is a pipe which goes from underneath the throttle body, taking in a feed from the oil breather and then back to the superchager. People remove these to prevent hot air from going back through the charger. If you haven't got an oil catch tank fitted you may want to get one otherwise your bay will be covered in oil before too long. Also the charger may need a spray of PTFE lube every now and then, especially if it hasn't been done for 2 years. Talk to g-man on here (Darren at G-Werks) as he can supply it if necessary. And as everyone has said, get some pictures up.

Firstly welcome, secondly when was the charger serviced?? They can be the week point of the system if not looked after. I can strongly recommend G-Werks if you're thinking of having you charger serviced again. Thirdly are you leaking any boost?? Click here Clicky for boost check with MFA to see what readings you should be aiming for. As it mentions in the thread the MFA is not really accurate - ideally you'd use a boost gauge, but it'll give you an idea. Other than that, sit back and enjoy it....

Good to hear you've managed to get one sorted. Shocked by Alpine UK . It's madness - I wanted to buy some replacement buttons from a different faceplate and they would only sell the entire face. Pure greed - they could have made a £10 sale. As it was I didn't bother so they lost out.
-
That is a ridiculous amount of money for what is basically a plastic shell. Have you tried Alpine UK parts if you are just getting a replacement rather than trying to get a US specific part??
-
Those are really cool. Congrats.
