I wonder if I had a freakishly loud one... the whole cabin reverberated after about 5k admittedly that is getting towards full throttle though :lol: I'd quite like to hear a BMC carbon one!

It is great with a filter on... just wish you could turn it on and off. You can't beat driving a vr6 through tunnels tho 8)

I changed mine a while back and it was a very strange thing to get off! I undid the small hex screw then the 36mm plastic bit seemed to come off without too much trouble. I couldn't really work out if you need to do it in that order or if vw have a special tool that consits of a 36mm socket with a small hex in the centre... the you just unscrew the lot together :? Hope you don't have too much trouble getting the remainder off!! I can't imagine they'll be too expensive from VW.

Also.... If you put a 2 second pause at the start and the same at the end... copy that, reverse it, attach to the end... then you'll have a nice looping morph :D

People slag off the Boxster S all the time saying "its a poor mans 911" I had the privilege of driving a 996 and a Boxster S round a track and i'd of chosen the Boxster every time.. A superbly balanced machine! A 993 C4 might be a different story :)

Just wondering if you can buy new alloys that are a similar design to the standard speedline ones ?? It would be good to go up to a 16" alloy but I'd like to keep the car looking as standard as possible. Any ideas ? Dan

Thanks mate :D Yeah, thats the pipe... I've just bought a 1.4 Ibiza as a runabout and that was making a fume\petrol smell everytime I set off from junctions and lights. That turned out to be the breather pipe that wasn't connected! My valver was doing about 24mpg (driving carefully) when I had the leak, so I knew something was up. Maybe someone else might have some other ideas :?

Check all the fuel lines when the car is idling. My old golf 16v had a tiny hole in one of the copper pipes around the fuel pump, no trace of anything until the system was pressurised. Are you getting lower mpg's than you used to ?? Might be worth just checking the oil breather hose that connects to the airbox, that can smell bad if becomes disconnected. Dan

I have a BMC panel filter in mine... Can't say I noticed any performance difference but it does "growl" a bit more than the OE filter 8)

Cheapest I found it was from this place: http://www.scarbro-racing.co.uk/magnexv Only reason i've not got one now is cause the bloody vw one is so well built :) I'd be interested in a magnex group buy as long as I can get some sort of receipt for it, then it can go through as a company expense 8)
