  1. Was thinking about some sort of chrome paint for the rims but haven't used it before so not confident. Every you tube video shows a different method and not sure that it wouldn't chip when being un masked and don't know if it can be painted over. Not sure of black rims cos due to needing to stay on top of dressing tyres other wise they end up looking grey. The colour looks dark silver when flat but quite dark when on the car. I believe it's the same silver you get on the dark silver polo's it's a vw colour anyway.

  2. Cheers. I used to be a strip fitter for fords years ago and still have a huge box of clips from all makes and models. So can always find some thing that fits. What I am short of is the correct screws as more than half are missing. Can't complain to much though how do you think I ended up with so much stuff? Lol. Also could you do me a favour and pop over to my thread and cast your opinion on the wheels as I can't decided and it's doing my head in. Cheers

  3. Will check thermostat as you said its a 92 g60 but would have thought it is the same principle. Just remembered had a similar issue on my old mk2 gti and managed to flush the system out with pressure washer and it worked well. Goldfinger your not wrong I love the thumbs up you get from complete strangers when out and about.

  4. If you could send that over would be appreciated. Never thought to check the heater when I bought the car in the summer. All the interior will be coming out over winter any way to fit the leather and fix some rattles so probably a good thing I found out now. Don't you just love 20 odd year old cars.

  5. When I was looking I looked at both g60's and vr6's and bought the best example which happened to be a g60. The howl of the g60 when your going for it is awesome plus the steering felt sharper due to lighter engine. I get that the g60 could blow but there is no guarantee with vr6 either.

  6. So finally convinced the wife to let me have some money to re furb the bbs's but don't know what colour to go with. Options are all silver, white, dark grey, or silver rims with either white, dark grey or mix the white and dark grey together? Opinions please.

Here's a little taster of the before and after stage 1 of re furb. Photo taken on phone so excuse the poor quality. 9fb4edadfc6f4dec66326944dc6e4f74.jpg

  7. One day. Difference is I used to work in body repair I know how to do it just never get round to it. Today I had to change the brakes on the family car sent the wife out for front pads and she comes back with rears ffs only to find out they don't stock the fronts cos they are too big so a day wasted when I could of been sorting the handbrake in the rado. Rant over.

  8. Your right to get the blisters sorted now as will only get worse then cost more to sort. Been reading the thread on your mk1 giving me motivation to crack on with mine if the rado ever plays ball and doesn't need something or another fixing so that will be never then lol
