Cool 8) As good a place to start! Will a garage do? Not too warm, but can be clean!

Going to start an engine rebuild on my spare 9A botton end, and need to I know what I should be considering when doing it. IIRC 9A botton ends suffer with the cylinders going oval is that right? If so and mine has, where would you guys recommend that I take it to have it checked (and rebored)? Also has anyone got a list of the tolerences for things such as crank bearings etc :?: I've managed to find a thread with a list of the bits I need, thanks to Henny, but its the machining/honing stuff that I'm going to be stuck on. :!: This is my first attempt at engine rebuild, so I think what I might do is do a "How To" with loads of pics if you think that is a good idea :?:

mines like that too, have been meaning to post this topic myself! Had the tracking etc laser aligned recently, so it can't be that, and did my trye pressures last week.....I'm guessing I should check my rear bushes then :oops:

You're not wrong! I changed mine as a matter of course, but I'm sure they are similar resistance to the ones supplied to me by Ultraleds anyway.

Do you loose any torque?

What's involved with lightening the flywheel? What advantages does it give you? Are there any disadvantages :?:

Phil, What did you do to your manifolds and how did you do it? I'm guessing you are running 44mm inlet manifold?

I just used a some red filter.......works a treat. No need to use LEDs on your clocks if you want red.

Not getting them then! Like the torque to be fair!

Mine sits higher at the front at the mo, which is why I've ordered them. Thanks for the info kevhaywire. Might have to get the bump stops. Any idea how much they are?

Oh right! :shock: just stick with the flowed head then and KR Inlet. Not done anything with the injectors yet.

How easy is this to take off? Is it stuck on or is it like early golf's and has pins? (I don't want to give away what car it is to anyone! :lol: )

Just ordered some lowered spring caps from Venom, do I need anything else to fit these? Fitted Koni TA's and H&R srpings a while ago, but didn't replace any other suspension components. Cheers

I've been offered a pair of Schrick 260 cams secound hand (40000miles) out of a MKII Golf with a BR Motorsport engine. Are they going to be worth the money for the increase in power that i'm going to get? I would put them in with a ported/polished head. What do you reckon? :D or :(

Don't forget your sunroof switch like I did! And it's a little trickier than the rest! :)

Sorry no digital camera GIXXERUK :( Maplin Part number CK48C - 12V 5mm Red Leds No need to try and squeeze in a resistor with these....as I found out when trying to find somewhere in the switch for them I got the 3mm window switch leds from Ultraleds.com (require a resistor, that is in fact already in the switches) Hope this helps 8)

Done mine! 8) The only advise I can give is get leds with built in resistance! I originally ordered led from ultraleds.com, which required a resister in line to bring it down to 12v. In the switches I've got (early style) there was no room to fit the resistor in, so I then order 12v resister from Maplin, which did the trick. You don't need leds for the clocks, all you do is replace the filter from green to red. I used a red plastic folder that I got from Viking Office Supplies, cut to size. I got the how to do that off a Canadian Corrado website, as it's a bit tricky to take the clocks apart. :) Finally you've got the heater controls. They were the worst thing to do. :( You have to scrape off the green layer of filter on the legends, and then put a peice of red filter in its place. Looks really good, and it cost me about £10 and about 3hours work, after all the buggering about with the wrong leds. 8) 8)
