  1. What does IHI stand for? Sorry for being ignorant!
  2. Ok, no I'm confused
  3. Just trying to work out what difference it makes? Does it just mean that they will be introducing more 40mph and 50mph speed limits in accident black spots?
  4. So all in all the AGU lump seems to be the one to go for.... forged crank, large port, 20mm wrist pins and cable throttle These lumps I would guess would be the most common, and the cheapest going on their age, to find in the scrap yards? How much do you reckon I could find one of these for?
  5. As far as I know, your best bet is to find a mate who can weld and make one up. I had one that a friend made for me for my MK1 Golf, and they are quite simple to put together.
  6. Was thinking along the lines of fitting a standard 150 engine for now, but as and when funds make themselves available, fit a larger turbo (maybe a roller bearing one) and then a remapping. The CR on the 150 is higher too, so am I right in thinking that it would be to my advantage?
  7. Change of plan... AGU and AEB engine codes (150bhp - bigger porting on the head) Apparently these are a stronger engine, is that the case? AGU has cast crank and AEB has forged, which would be the stronger? Forged? Or doesn't it matter. I want to finally acheive around 250bhp, but also being a reliable daily drive. Any thoughts?
  8. So the engine codes I need to look for are as follows AMU - TT APX - TT BAM - TT/S3 All of these use DBW, which I guess is the non throttle cable version. Will this cause me any issues/problems?
  9. How different are the engine mounts between 20vt and 9a?
  10. Majik, sorry if I have not explained myself correctly, I meant to say to use the management off the 20vt engine and transponder etc fom the donor car!
  11. I've had a good read of most of the threads for doing a 20v conversion, but most are from either G60's or VR's...... I was going to just rebuild my 9a, but I've given up smoking as a new years resolution, and want to treat myself! 8) Was going to go down the 16v G60 route, but would have to build the engine from scratch, and I think it would be far less troublesome (and a lot cheaper) just to find a good standard engine to drop into my C  From what I can gather it would be best to first find a 225bhp engine (insurers said this too), which I will trawl the scrap yards to find. What is the engine code for this engine, anyone? What sort of things do I need to consider? 1) Engine mounts? 2) Can I use standard management as long as I have loom, ecu and key/clocks? 3) Can I use my standard cable change gearbox? 4) Would I need to upgrade the drive shafts (I would assume so but which ones should I use - G60?) 5) Radiator? G60 or ?? 6) Manifold/Downpipe?? 7) Oil Cooler? Going to keep the engine standard for now (if I can find a 225bhp one), but am I missing anything obvious apart from Intercooler and pipe work etc? Oh and mustn't forget to stop....brakes, would G60 calipers up front and MK4 golf calipers rear be good enough? Was considering ripping out the ABS, apparently G-man did this to good affect using a brake bias adjuster and Mk2 16 servo and master cylinder. As must info as possible would be greatly appreciated guys, as I want to do this conversion myself (with the help of a friend of mine :-P ) Thanks Monsieur Beige
  12. Ok, interesting developments.... Brentacre are offering £594.70 £350 excess Greenlight are offering £499.25 £300 excess I'm shocked  The only drawback is only £500 audio cover
  13. Went to my local Esso on Saturday, only to find that Supr unleaded had dropped from 91p a ltr down to 83.5p  And....normal unleaded was 77.5p a ltr  Anybody else noticed a massive drop in fuel prices in there area :?: Not that I'm complaining :D :D
  14. Do you know what time they close, cos I've just tried them, and the phone just rang and rang....did I have the right number - 01792 650933???
  15. Right, My insurance is up on the 19th, and have had two good quotes for my mildly modded 2.0l 16v Adrian Flux - £643 with £300 excess fully comprehensive with protected no claims, guarenteed curtosy carand £500 audio cover HIC matched Adrian Flux for £643, but with an excess of £475, and additional track day cover, 90day green card for abroad, increased audio cover to £1500, and said that I would be able to get my car back as salvage if I ever crashed it! :D 8) What experiences have people had with these two companies? The HIC offer seems to be better, but the excess is higher :( Any thoughts would be appreciated :!:
  16. Well here's my list.... 1) Middle lane hogging on the motorway when there is nothing on the inside lane  2) The A14 and the majority of the drivers on it who don't pull over to let you past when there is nothing in the inside lane 3) Indicating right when going straight on at a roundabout, then indicating left when leaving the roundabout...what's that all about??? 4) People who pull out of a junction in front of you, slow you down, then turn off 100yds up the road  5) Old people who drive at 45mph everywhere! 6) People who either speed up whilst you're over taking, or after you've over taken to prove some kind of point....not quite sure what!! 7) Definately 4x4 Mum's!!!! The list goes on and on.....not that I believe that I'm a great driver or anything, but there are some seriously sh1t drivers out there, especially the ones driving BMW 318 company chariots who seem to think there car is supersonic! Lots of swearing from my C...

True chav-mobiles if ever I have seen them, and not a Corrado in sight! 8)
  23. It's unlikely to be DAB ready, as the US use satelite radio (XM) instead of DAB. Also the tuner will not have RDS on it as the US doesn't support it! A friend of mine bougth a us spec'd Pioneer, which went wrong, and he couldn't get it fixed - no parts available in the UK. Funny thing was it looked identical to the uk model apart from the model number and name (pioneer = premier in US) :!:
  24. What the F*CK is that? Oh sorry didn't realise it was a corsa for a minute... now I understand!
  25. Can anyone recommend anywhere to get some engine bits powder coated or chromed?
