  1. Superb! You can come and do mine next month then? lol Seriously though, this is excellent reference material for all the V-dub squirters out there.
  2.     I have to agree. I also think that the Father of said AmericanM5 is mental for letting his son of 18 drive a car like that. I would imagine that he feels pretty bad now :(
  3. Yep, it is a lot of effort and heart-ache, and I would say that there are more and more breakers out there now, so prices seem to be going down as the supply increases. I still have loads of mine left and started breaking at the beginning of November!! If yours has Recaros and Air-con, it'd fetch more than a normal Rado anyway. Don't break a perfectly good car. (Coming from me who did that, although needs at the time required it :( )
  4. Decided against D90s. Selling the schmorbets will take me a long way towards sorting my turbo motor :D
  5. Welcome! Another red valver! 8)
  6. Love it! Another Tornado red 1990 valver! Similar life to the one I've got by the sounds of it  :D
  7. Right, as I finshed what I needed to do on the 306 in good time, I did a couple of minor things to Gooney today. Fitted Lupo wipers and replaced the broken drivers door pin, and started to investigate why the central locking is non-functional. The battery was nearly flat, it didn't turn the starter over and needs a good charge. I'll probabl take it to work, as we've got a heavy duty charger there. Next weekend, I'll try and sort the central locking, adjust the handbrake and give it the once over ready for the MOT :D
  8. What about a Becker? Very nice sounding head units and the tuners are superb.
  9. I'll have a look into it, bruv...
  10. Well, Jon, I'll be MOT'ing Gooney once I've sorted a couple of things out on the 306, namely brakes and a service, but then it'll be in for MOT along with sorting out the central locking and fitting the Clifford alarm, but.... 1) The Borbets aren't going on it, and will be up for sale as soon as I re-polish the dishes. I fancy a change, and D90's are getting my vote at the mo... 2) Going to re-do the switch gear using Audi switch lamp filters, rather than red LEDs (not including the elec window switches which are fine 3) I've decided to put the Magnex on Gooney, sorry dude... :(
  11. Christ, what a response! To be fair, I'm well pleased with her. Many thanks to Gav and Nikki for holding on to him for soo long, you both shall do so well. The History is massively impressive. All receipts (laminated into a folder  ) and MOT's from new! It has been cherished I think. The bodywork isn't mint, but for a 17 year old car its pretty damn good! Needs a couple of things tidying up (bonnet and front wings) but apart from that and the odd 'Tesco' ding, its all good. The interior is in such good nick too, it shocking. Anyway, watch this space....
  12. Yes mate, she f*cking loves it!!! :D :D :D
  13. Well, thought I start a fresh thread for the new motor! Meet Gooney, son of Badcrumble! Picked this 166k 1.8 valver up from Gav and Nikki, for the princely sum of 300 squid. To say I'm pleased is an understatement! Engine sounds sweet as a nut and the interior is mint. First job is to get it MOT'd then we'll see what changes take place.... 15. Less than 1 day now!! Woo hoo... Just purchased this....in readiness for the Megasquirt....
  16. So you just add up the number do you then? What a prize c*ck!
  17. A few people have had excellent results with the moonroof from Passat estates (model year 1993-94 IIRC). The mechanism is much better and doesn't break. Also the profile of the esate one suits the profile of the Corrado roof well.
  18. It suggest you get you front wishbones from VW themselves dude. Much better than some of the GSF tat...
  19. I'd say i would be the time of the year mate. Most people will still be recovering from Christmas. I'd hang fire for a month or two....
  20. Welcome! So, what's the spec of the engine you're building then?
  21. Nearly 2, nearly 2....oo oo oo nearly 2 days to go.....
  22. So what is the AUM engine like then? That's the block he has. Is that a stronger block than say the early AGU? Should he be looking into front mount intercoolers etc? Just looking into the APR stuff and the likes of Tuningwerkes want over 5k for the Stage III kit! I'm thinking your idea of using the BAM engine could be the way forward, given that witha re-chip should see 250+ ?? Would it be a relatively straight forward swap?
  23. It is possible, but a total ballache. The early Rado's had cable driven speedo, whereas the later ones (9A 16v, 8v and VR6) have an elctronic speedo driven via sensor on the gearbox.
