  1. I think I'd want in somehow integrated into the instrament cluster.. Well, I've made some progress on stripping the old wiring looms out that go into the engine bay. I ended up unplugging everything from the fusebox. Not sure if that was the most intelligent of decisions  Didn't think it would take long to do, but 3 hours later... The bay looks loads less cluttered withou the wiring, so I think I'm going to definately hide the wiring in the chassis legs... :) Condition of the battery tray is better than I thought So just need to sort all this lot out now
  2. I think I've just left a bit of sex wee on the forum. Loving the look 8)
  3. I think it might make a good poll? 1) Unmodified 2) Cosmetic modification (wheels, suspension, exhaust etc) 3) Fully modified (different engine or different interior etc) Mine's number 3) :D
  4. I like the idea of the Megaview, but I'd be interested in improving the display a little, it would look non-standard and my plan is to try and do a very OEM+ look in the cabin.
  5. I also quite like the idea of installing the MegaView Digital Dashboard into the cockpit. Taken from another website... "MegaView is an add-on accessory for the MegaSquirt Electronic Fuel Injection System, providing real-time display of all engine operating parameters, and allowing for the edit of any configuration variable in the MegaSquirt ECU. This dual-function device was designed to be mounted in an automotive dashboard to provide feedback on all critical engine parameters or housed in an enclosure for use as a portable tuning device. Features: MegaView utilizes a high-efficiency Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) which is easy to read in any light conditions, making it perfect for an installed dashboard application. In addition, the wide-operating range of the VFD is perfect for low temperature operation. MegaView offers two operation modes: Runtime which displays the current engine operating parameters in "ticker-tape" scroll format, and Configurator whcih allows the edit of any of the MegaSquit variables in real-time. In Runtime Ticker-tape mode, the parameters displayed include current engine operation state (cranking, running, etc), enrichments, barometric pressure, engine MAP, coolant and intake air temperature, all computed enrichments, and injector pulsewidth. The automatic scroll mode can be frozen at any time in order to monitor any desired variable. In addition, any monitored parameter which is outside of normal operating conditions will "flash" on the display, alerting the driver of a possible adverse situation in real time."
  6. Yarp! Here's one I made earlier...Blue Peter stylie
  7. Yarp! Looking forward to getting th block on the standa painted up, read for some re-assembly action!! :D:D:D
  8. Rob, it might be worth sticking up some prices for different valeting services on Corrados
  9. Mrsbeige and I want to move to France. They like smoking in France, in fact they tried to impose a smoking ban in public places, but all the French including non-smokers went to those public places and smoked, so the government backed down. I like it when governments listen to their people. I smoke when I drive, I also eat the odd packet of crisps/sandwich or have a can of Redbull whilst driving, and I'm sure I'm paying far more attention to the road (and other drivers) than most of the muppets on the road....present company excluded of course. They should crack down on people using their mobiles whilst driving first, but of course that doesn't happen because there are very few police on the roads to enforce it! I'd imagine its mostly just another means to get money out of the taxpayers pocket, either that or another offence to put down on the police's targets. Tuppence paid....
  10. Made a couple of purchases today. Got myself an engine stand from machine mart... And bought a POR15 Engine paint kit.... Next stop, VW, for some bearing shells and gaskets....

    Engine paint??

Well, I've just bought the POR15 engine paint kit, which includes; Engine cleaner, Metal-Ready (etch primer), POR-15 rust preventative paint, Extra pigment black engine enamel, Solvent, Paint brushes, Latex gloves and face mask POR15 kit Came to £50 including VAT and delivery, which I thought was pretty good considering it has everything I need :D

    Engine paint??

I used some halfords engine laquer, OK, but like POR 15 it's the preparation that counts or anything will flake off. Ah, ok. I've seen a kit that includes a POR-15 etch primer and paint, so is using a kit with the etch primer the best plan then?
  13. Right guys 'n' gals, I need to order some paint for my block and wanted to know what I should be getting. I've heard good things about POR-15, but I've also heard that there is some engine paint that is available in a rattle can. Can anyone recommend suggest/recommend any? I'm only interested in matt black, so not sure if the POR-15 stuff is matt or it is gloss. Thanks in advance....
  14. I was going to ask the same thing
  15. I have to agree with Phil, here, the company is at fault and have supplied you with the incorrect engine. Plus the 2.0l block is worth plenty more than the 1.8. Call them and tell them you want it sorted.
  16. It says that you are worried about losing your pride and joy. Had similar dreams myself, luckily never had a wet dream about my Corrado or any other car, cos that really would be worrying
  17. IIRC you'll need the cables and selector and you'll need different driveshaft flanges. I'm pretty sure the flanges off a 2.0 VW Beetle are the ones you'll need. 100mm ones(?) I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm/correct!
  18. I'm by no means an expert, but I'd have to agree it would bve better not to use anything overly flexible or possibly porous at any point. I had issues with a leak in my inlet pipework on my valver and that made it run like a bag of spanners at idle, but was fine when giving it beans. I know its a different scenario, but I think the principle is the same.
  19. How reliable can that be though? Surely 450bhp+ and you start to get reliability issues? junkie, why not 2.0l 16v turbo then? you've already got the mahoosive turbo? I am slightly biased as you well know...
  20. Why not go 16v Turbo then? You'd only need block, head and manifolds... 8) If you did it right you could see 400 ponies??
  21. Good work Sukh. Have you got the link to your photobucket album, so I can have a look at you handy work?
  22. I did think that, but are the crank, intermediate shaft and camshaft pulleys the same as the 9A?
  23. Oooooh, nearly done, Rob? I bet you can't wait to go out in it?
  24. That site no good then? I've got to be honest I think these look awesome....
  25. Cranked ring spanner and hit the end of it with a hammer. It's like the slow version of an impact gun. :?
