Just been down to Ecotech and he reckons 210bhp+ on a stage 1 which I'm happy with dropping the car of with him Monday. This has got me thinking about brake upgrades, currently got 280mm brakes up front and will be swapping a GTi axle onto the back as it's currently drums, will this be sufficient for a young ruffian like myself to stop safely? What brake upgrades are available whilst staying 4 stud as I've got 288mm brake discs, calipers, carriers but they're 5 stud. Also I've noticed recently just how long gear changes are taking, so wondering what short shift kit would fit as it's a MK3 GTi gearbox but not sure what shifter tower assembly is. Also got myself some TT wishbone bushes to fit. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Cheers hopefully it'll come out well, no point driving them in the wet IMHO and not worth getting the underneath covered in salty mush. Especially if you've got a more suitable car for winter which luckily I have Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Love the look of those wheels on the rado (6th picture up), Edition 30 looks like a fun bit of kit aswell

With my golf,my brothers T4 and my winter daily all needing love the VR has lost out I'm afraid. It is currently sat primered in the corner of the unit. It won't see the road now until spring with summer coming to an end. I've decided to park it up until I've got everything else out of my hair as I've too much going on ATM. Currently blanked the hole with a small bolt of the same thread to stop it spewing oil out and relying on the dash pressure light to warn me of any mishaps. Popping down to a place local to me in Buckley who are "VAG Remap specialists" to have a chat about mapping the golf. Planning to take it off the road come the end of the month as it's pretty pointless driving it in the wet as it spins up at every oppurtunity. And I don't fancy getting my chassis covered in frozen road slush left the grit wagons as its currently clean and I'm planning to waxoyl it regardless of the fact it doesn't see water.

Sump resealed and I've fitted new bushes and painted the GTi axle ready to go on, now just need to make up some brake lines. The seal around the top of my oil pressure sensor has now decided to fail and is now weeping oil. Though can't find one similar and it's not a stock part as it's for an aftermarket gauge. Any suggestions best place to try? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Radiator fitted and filled full of fresh coolant, first time starting her up for about 4 month and finally got to try 16vDaves short shift kit only reversed her a bit to make some space but the kit is brilliant really changed the car for the best. Now I've heard the engine running again and moved it about under its own steam I'm keen to get stuck in. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Long overdue update on the VR to put it simply I've been busy enjoying my new Mk2 but my Radiator arrived today after a two week wait. Hoping to get back on track now I've got no excuse as I have everything needed to finish the car just need to paint the thing. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Well you learn something new everyday, what sealant would you recommend? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

There were two oil leaks but tightened a joint up where the oil pipes connect and now there is only one, looks to be the sump gasket? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

After saying yesterday "this golfs brilliant its the only thing I've bought that hasn't leaked oil on the driveway". I got in from work this morning to discover a plentiful supply of dead dinosaur juice on the drive. Had a quick look underneath on my back and it's dripping down from by the bell housing. I'll stick it on the ramps later and have a proper butchers. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Plugged in a different gauge and all works so it was just a faulty gauge. Also been speaking to a lad at a garage I know who's mate has had 1.8t's, G60's, VR6 turbos and the current S3 engine in his mk2! So may have to have a chat with him about future mods Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Yes it works as it should which makes me think it's just this cheap aftermarket gauge playing up Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

No none of the above are going off, only sign is the aftermarket gauge is reading low. Checked all the wires behind the dash to the gauges and all are connected. Whereabouts would I find the oil pressure sensor on a 1.8t engine to check the wires the other end? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Fixed the boot catch and just now another problem has occured, my oil pressure has dropped significantly. The car hasn't used/lost any oil and I can't see any noticeable blown hoses or anything obvious which could've caused this. Any pointers from a 1.8t wizard? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Just looked Jabbasport is over 3 hours away for me but thanks anyways Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

First problem had arisen the boot won't click shut it's just bounces back. Obviously the mechanism isn't clicking into place anyone know if it's possible to get behind it and make it close manually. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Mine came from a 2002 A3, it's already got mods (De-cat, exhaust, front mount intercooler) to be mapped just not sure where to take it. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Cheers that's helpful to know I'll have a look into it whilst I remember Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

I'd heard different people saying 150/180 from the AUM and from the way it goes I assumed it was the 180bhp, even more impressive that's it's 150bhp just shows how light the mk2 is ( Until I get in it) It's not long had a powerflow exhaust fitted so wasn't going to change that. I'll have a look at a front spoiler but more bothered about changing the box it's one from MK3 GTi and sits at 65mph in 5th at 3000rpm which I'm not fond of. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Started stripping the GTi axle and getting rid of the loose stuff with a wire wheel on the grinder. Going to give it all a few coats of Hammerite whilst it's all off. Hoping to have the axle on by the end of next week Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Up for sale is my VW T25 Pickup which I've owned for two years, rather different to a Corrado but they both require a love of unique vehicles. Here is my 1988 VW T25 pickup for sale, after recently buying a Mk2 it's time to pass it on to someone else to enjoy. It has the 1.9DG engine and 4 speed box, The dropsides are currently off the van but I do have them aswell as all the fixings to attach them. MOT'd till June 2017. Currently has a 3 inch straight pipe which is very loud (pops and bangs on overrun) I do have the original exhaust which I will include if need be. I have used this as my daily and it has never let me down, the temperature gauge currently doesn't work, though I've never had any problems with it in my 2 years of owning it. The van is lowered on -80mm Avo shocks and springs with adjustable damping. It has also had a new section welded in behind the cab and two patches on the deck. Underneath is solid and can be viewed on my ramps to prove this. The paint is a bit patchy (2 different shades of yellow) and theres some wear and tear on the drivers left side bolster but other than that its a solid van. Also has the bench seat fitted so can seat 3 though it's a bit on the cosy side. Cash on Collection from Chester More pictures once can get them uploaded

Decided to to take the tank straps off wire wheel them and just brush some Hammerite smooth on . Not really a task that needed doing as they're no worse than the ones on my VR but just thought it was a little task that I had time to do. Only me and the Steve the MOT tester will see them but it's the little things that count Also ignore the rusty axle I've a spare GTi one I'm currently rebuilding and painting.
