Ok, so you insert the plastic guide into the brass sleeve and the seal then slips over the plastic guide at the bottom of the brass sleeve or the seal is on the plastic guide before being inserted into the brass sleeve? Is the seal inside the brass sleeve or outside the plastic guide? Guessing the question is - does the seal seat inside the brass sleeve sealing the plastic guide or does it seat against the manifold sealing the brass sleeve? Thanks!

Just been stung! Got a 4 branch and just got it fitted, only to find it's blowing at the 4 into one part! So, does anyone have a good one sitting around? Bit of a nuisance driving around with an exhaust that sounds like a tractor :(

Ok, so nothing in the manifold itself - it's all sealed via the injector?

Question regarding the inlet manifold. Im changing from 42mm to 50mm and have the new manifold stripped. I am fitting new injector guides and read that there might be seals in there somewhere? Are they between the sleeve and guide or do they go on the guide themselves? Have unscrewed the brass sleeves ready for the new guides, but thought I better check before putting everything back together. Thanks

Thanks guys, the corrosion is through and there is a good size hole - maybe a 10p size from the corner and corrosion all around it :(

To my knowledge there is no a/c. It's a 1.8 16v 1990. Looking to get that area sorted out as it is a bit of an eyesore. Thanks for the reply

Had a look and both pipes go through the bulkhead. So, must mean there is something up with the heater controls? That might not be so bad then...

Need the plastic scuttle cover and the 3 piece scuttle trim at foot of the windscreen. Is the sunroof trim the head lining part of the sunroof? Thanks, Billy

Well, had a good look this morning around the scuttle area. The cover that goes over the blower box wasn't fitted under the seal on the ridge bit at all! After a bit of tricky working I got things back as they should and I'm guessing water must have been running straight into that blower box? I may have cracked a bit of the cover trying to get the rusted clips off, so might need to replace later. The crack is on the left hand side and should be ok till I get another one sourced. So, with all that said and done, the fact that it's not coolant been coming into the cockpit and that my hot air isn't working, does that imply that someone has previously bypassed the matrix or may there be another reason why I have no hot air? Thanks and hope all that made sense! Oh and as far as the sunroof working goes - I haven't tried it yet. Will wait a bit just in case something is amiss. Don't fancy the winter here and having to fuss with that!

I Thanks for the advice! I must be honest and say I am a wee bit overwhelmed at the amount of jobs building up that need to be tackled. I need to begin prioritising and getting through them. I had a look at the scuttle and the mesh box thing, there were a bunch of old leaves and dirt. The scuttle wasn't a great fit to the windscreen and on closer inspection the windscreen seals are shot! So, might any number of issues letting water in... Will smell the liquid tonight and try to tell if coolant or water. The coolant reservoir has not dropped in the 2 weeks I have owned the car, so like someone commented there may have been a bypass carried out at an earlier date? I haven't looked around the sunroof yet, and to be honest I am a bit tentative after hearing all the horror stories about them. All that said - I am loving the car and will no doubt enjoy the battle ahead.

Should mention that the fan only blows cold air - no hot at all! Coming into winter up here that will not do... So the matrix does sound like the most plausible fault?

The guy I bought mine from mentioned something about sealant to cut through - true or false?

Will need to replace the front driver side wing shortly and wondered if there were any hidden secrets I need to know about? Thanks!
