Will give this a try. I don't want to be going down arch work route. I have the wheels that are on the car, which are the correct fitment and might get them done. One of the wheels has a slight flat spot though, hence the new set. Appreciate your guidance notes!

It has been lowered, it's on the bilstein b4 shocks with shortened springs - not sure exactly what the drop is though...
-
The et on them are 44. Looks like the minimum adapter width is 20mm. Would that be ok? It's a 1.8 16v, but I have a 280mm front set up I am away to fit - will that work? Thanks!

Confession first! I bought a set of BBS Wheels off a guy in Edinburgh who said they came off his polo 6N2. Advertised them as 4x100... I took them and have had them powder coated, took them down to have tyres fitted and was told the fitment are wrong! Turns out they are Volvo fitment (4x114.3) :( So, do I start again or do I fit adapters - what's your thoughts?

I remembered the look of those as I looked into getting them when I had my mk2 scirocco. Hope you get the nailed down!

Think they might be the OZ Super Tourismo ones?

I think there must be differences between the bulb holders. My one had connectors that were connected to the holder and the blue plastic circuit part. When I tried to take the holder away, I ended up ripping the blue circuit plastic. I did manage to replace the bulb with a green one on a spare set of clocks - so job done!
-
Thanks for the pointers. I did dismantle my clocks, as you posted on my dash removal topic, I struggled with getting the beige bulb holder to come away. It seemed to be stuck to the blue plastic circuit part. Do you remove all bulbs before the beige part comes away or do you insert the bulb while the beige part is still on the clocks? Thanks!
-
Really struggling with this one! My car failed MOT on the full beam bulb. Couldn't solve so I sourced a set of clocks that I was assured had a working blue bulb. However, when I hooked it up there is no blue light on full beam! Getting frustrated with all this. Any suggestions please?

It was the bit that inserts into the guide sleeve about 3/4" - looks like that 3/4" bit corroded and simply plugged the sleeve. It prevented the old cable from coming out and likewise stopped the new cable being inserted too!

Totally agree! I am tackling jobs I would not have touched before, on the strength of this forum :)

Sorry, I realised after I posted it that it was you! Didn't look at the date when I was scrolling the topics! You gave some good advice as I was going through the dash removal etc... Sorry!

I have a set of 3 flaps all ready covered and ready for fitting inside the heater box...

Ended up having to drill out the part left from the old cables. The part that goes into the guide tubes must corrode over time and block the guides preventing the odd ones coming out (had to get the grinder to cut the tails in order to get old cables out) also blocks new ones from going in! So, drilled the blockage out and all good.

Quick question about removing both handbrake cables. They won't pull free of the sleeve/tubes. I have an early 1.8 16v. I have unbolted both ends from the handbrake and they do move a fair bit, but seem to get jammed in the sleeve. Is there something I am missing or should know about? Thanks!

I got a little spooked when I tried to remove the beige part as the blue plastic backing with the circuits seemed to be preventing it from coming away cleanly? Do I just keep pulling till they separate? Thanks!
-
Managed to get the bulb out and yes it's blown. Does the beige plastic holder need to come out for fitting the replacement? Tried to refit the old one, just to see how the replacement would go back in and didn't go well. That was with the holder still in the clocks, which makes me think I need to take it out for refitting?

Well, dealer said the bulbs were discontinued last year and there are no old stock to be found either :( What has everyone done to remedy this - are there any alternatives?
-
Thanks, will give the dealer a phone on Monday to see if they still stock them.
-
Thanks! That certainly looks doable :) Was dreading taking the dash to bits again, but will give this a go. Any idea where to get the bulbs from?
-
Just got it in for its MOT. Looks like it failed on a dash bulb for the main beam (blue one) not working! Off all the things to fail on... So, any pointers on how to replace it. Please tell me I'm not taking the dash to bits again!

Well, got everything filled and cleared out this morning. Turned the key and started up 1st time with no issues at all :) Took her out for a run and I have lovely hot air and no steering squeal! Temps look a bit on the cool side, gauge is showing around 80, when before it sat at 90. Guessing it will settle in a bit over the next few miles. I am sitting with a rather smug grin on my face - chuffed it's all worked out! Again, big thanks to all for keeping me right along the way!
