OK. Heres the equation Front wheel drive Corrado + Roundabout or bend + Rain + Goin only slightly faster than i should be = Massive Oversteer... EH?? Whats going on there? Does anyone else experience this, because I nearly papped meself the first time it happened. Now though , I'm actually starting to enjoy it, and I've had some strange looks as people see a front wheel drive VW going VERY sideways around the million or so roundabouts where I live. I recently Put some nice grippy FK451's on the front, so maybe its the the old rubber on the back losing grip first, but I dunno. What i DO do know is it shouldn't be doing it, and sooner or later I'm gonna get it wrong, Oh so very wrong. Any ideas before I bend my car? (It's just started raining !!!) :| Cheers. Ian.

I'm trying not to get jealous over how young some corrado owners are. Id've *KILLED* to own a corrado when I was 20. But 12 years ago, they were still (a little) out of my price range and I had to settle for an X reg Cortina!  Suppose most of them still are out of my price range. I struggled to scrape enough together for my 91 valver last year, but I suppose that's mortgages for yer. (Yes. I'm VERY jealous!) : -
  They're not so exclusive that the rust fairies dont recognise them, are they?

skimask, After the post last week about the Oil beeper scare, I had the white oil switch replaced when i got the cambelt changed. Hasn't happened since, despite my best attempts to provoke it. If your pressure readings are ok, then that should be your culprit, mate.

Only one, and its mine!! Got the VR6 lump in it now. My corrado's running the 1.4 Austin power plant

I've given up now... My better half's dad said upon seeing it for the first time 'Nice those Sciroccos, aren't they'? Just said Yes. Mind you suppose It's a good thing. Goes to prove how relativley rare they are. As far as i know, theres only one other (a left hooker) in the whole of Skelmersdale. Not a bad exclusivity statistic for a two grand motor! :) :D

Where can i get a set of those anti wheelie bars to suit my 1.8 valver? I'm sick of losing sight of the road when I put MY foot down! Yeah right...

Ha ha. How cool is that? Does the spoiler still work ???

Cheers Henny, I'll bear that in mind.

Talking of Corrado dragsters, I saw one knocking around a few weeks back which looked like it'd crashed through halfords front window full of glue. Complete with top feul 'ironing board on brush poles' type spoiler extension. God! I nearly wept. :( A few pictures of the real thing would be great though. Good going mate. Cheers. Ian

My odometer says 98k. But I suppose that could've had a haircut. All previous mot's back it up though, so maybe not. Anyway Mileage aside, the engine is very smooth, quiet and not giving any audible signs of being about to give up. (Touch wood) It's going into Dubsport on tuesday to get the belts changed, so if i can grab one of the oily blokes (and not the desk jockey) i'll ask for his opinion on what to do.

Thats good to hear Dazzy. Hopefully that'll be the feller. Funnily enough it happened again tonight. Cheap German rubbish !! :hitler:

Was giving my beloved 1.8 valver some death a while back, when at 80mph the oil warning light and beeper kicked off giving me a heart attack as I threw the parachutes out the back to screech to a halt. Thinking I must've smoked my engine good style after somehow losing the oil, I was baffled when I checked it and found it to be perfectly full. Started it up again: No problem. Thought it might've been down to me recently changing the oil to 5-40 synth from the reccommended 10-40, and it maybe being too thin when hot. A quick phonecall to Dubsport though, told me this is what oil they'd use on my car. Put that first time down to gremlins, but it's started happening again, only when the oil is hot and after hard driving. Anyone else ever get this? It makes me flap every time! Cheers - Ian

Saw a dark VR with a Dubsport windscreen sticker (not too sure about those) on railway road in sunny Skem Saturday 12th. Gave an enthusiastic point and thumbs up only to realise too late to avoid ridicule from him, that I was in my mate's Cherokee and not my own car. Doh! Probably unsurprisingly, I got no wave back, but the car looked nice. Anyone?

Nice easy one for you lads.... whats the standard kerbside weight of a 1.8 16v It's got to be a lot for the size of the car. The bonnet alone on mine weights more than I do! Cheers - Ian

My 91 16 valver was advertised as dusty mauve, and not knowing any different at the time took this as read. Only later when i checked the colour code i realised it was the dark burgondy pearl effect. This doesn't really clear any of the above up, other than to say that auto trader ads are only as reliable as the people writing them.

I dress my Corrado up in leiderhosen, and buff up my chick! Hmmmmmmm... The smell of Brasso!

Performance is.... erm... Stately

Cheers for that lads, i'll certainly get down to my local shell garage and bang some optimax in for a kick off. I'll see if my mate fancies getting his hands dirty with me and have a crack at the throttle body too. (had seen that thread before and was kicking the idea around already) Failing all that, I could just let my Mondeo friend's tyres down! Nice one. 8) -
Had my '91 1.8 16 valver since chrimbo and am in love with the blighter. Spent a couple of hundred quid on the essentials (security, tyres oil etc) but never touched the engine since it ran so smooth and wasn't screaming for any immediate attention. I'm now looking to get in there and sort out the only thing i'm not 100% happy about. The performance. Was never exectly blown away with my cars performance, even from day one. But when I found myself struggling *Big time* to keep up with my mate's knackered, bog standard 1.8 mondeo, it dawned on me a good few of the 136 horses must be down the boozer enjoying themselves instead of grafting under my right foot as they should be! Bottom line is, I aint got the bottomless pockets some of the people on here seem to have and need to know where the most effective place to start replacing things would be. Plugs and air filter are obvious ones, but it's been suggested that the fuel filter could need changing too. Are there any other Corrado power loss hotspots I could look at? My mate's really starting to p*ss me off in that dog of a mondeo  Cheers in advance. Ian

SOME OF THE WORST CORRADOS EVER... RICED !!!!!!! NOOOOOO ;-)
Louie Lungbubble replied to chris CORRADO's topic in Exterior
Hello all. In the 2 months leading up to christmas, I was searching high and low for my now beloved C, and I kept on seeing a blue, supposedly Max Power project Corrado in the NW Auto Trader. Every week it was the same photo: Rear quarter, worms eye view which gave little away of the potential nightmare which could've been going on at the front end, I used to scratch my head and wonder how people could do it to one of the already best looking cars you could buy. Even now, 6 months after getting one I still sometimes stare into space and wonder what the monstrosity could have looked like. Apologies if it now belongs to anyone here, but I was half hoping to see it in that list of dogs above so i can finally get some sleep at night! Can anyone help me out here? Cheers.
