  1. I've got a mate who works at Sellafield. His car pedals must look like that all the time!
  2. Cheers Dinkus. That actually looks quite tidy with flipper turned off, dunnit? Sounds like the pioneer owners are happy, so I think its the 7600 it is a little over budget, so I'll have to see if my better half is feeling flush! Just remembered. As a kid I was able to blag my mum and dad for a bigger pressie with the suggestion of having my birthday and chrimbo in one. (one of the benefits of being born 3 days before xmas) Think it's time to dust that old chestnut off and try it out on my missus! :)
  3. No wombat option then eh ? Boo! :(
  4. Cheers mate. Can the LCD have pictures of armadillos or wombats instead? Dolphins are SO last season!
  5. Hmm. Had a gander at both of these. Must say i like the tidyness of the DEHP77MP The DEH7600MP looks good too, if as you say Dinkus, you can turn the dolphins off! Both still a bit over budget though... Saw a slightly lower model number one in that list, which had the same mofset amps and stuff like the ones you two suggested. Sound will oblviously be not quite as good as the pricier ones, but as a bit of a big generalisation, do you reckon best stick with Pioneer?
  6. Help me out chaps.... Apparently, this year When the big fat, red pants wearing, mince pie eating dude breaks into my house via the chimney and empties his sack all over the bottom of my bed, there will be a new (no doubt slightly sticky) head unit for my motor. Now I do not intend to win any car audio setup competitions with this thing, so don't you audiophiles out there start giving me a hard time about "sound staging" and stuff like that. But for the modest budget of £150 what (MP3 compatible, Single CD) model number should I be writing on my Chrimbo list? Not expecting anything too fancy for that price. But want a good honest head unit without all the BLINGiness of having flashing disco lights and glitterballs that appear from the slot at the touch of a button. Been onto Car Audio Direct and saw these http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/default ... ed090bda19 All of those are within budget. Any Comments / suggestions The elves (aka my bird) grow restless! Cheers.
  7. Wow. People in your work keep their cars spectacularly clean. Look at the sparkle on all those motors!
  8. I'm with everyone else on the inspection thing. My better half had one done on a 3 year old focus. All he had to say about it (to justify his existance) was that the petrol filler pipe had about a micron thick layer of rust on the outside! Hmmmmmmmmm, Well let me try to knock half a grand off for that, eh? Download the "What to look for" guide, from here. And visit the Corrado Pre viewing section. I wish I'd known about this place beore I started shopping around. I touched lucky. Others haven't! Gman..... Your sig graphic scares me. Do you have some issues with someone, mate? (God, I hope that's not my IP )
  9. White 16v L** WAG Yesterday on the Heinz factory road in Wigan. Flashed and got a (sort of) nod back   Often see 2 Vr's knocking around that neck of the woods too. Dark blue one N* LUV. Woman driver who ALWAYS blanks me. The other, (possibly dusky mauve) Occaisionaly parked at a house by the Stag pub in Orrell Gibber2k is from Wigan. Assuming you dont cross dress, is the Orrell one yours?
  10. Might well be the oil pump on its last legs, and it's not a good idea to ignore the possibility. But the same thing was happening to me (and a few other people I've since noticed) and it was the white oil pressure switch on top of the oil filter/pump thing behind the radiator. Couple of quid for a newie, and there were no more alarming alarms from mine round the twisty stuff.
  11. Henny, Do you commute to Addis Abbaba ??
  12.  Look before you leap. Just read your sig.. BK racing black chrome eh?
  13. Yeah, liking them myself. I inherited an old set of Hockenheims on mine which I like, but they're older than the dinosaurs. Your's have got that similar look, but a lot 'slicker' (if that's a word) and more modern. What are they Paul?
  14. Hey... Look at that. 100th post - 100k thread. I get a badge. There's a new sherrif in town !
  15. Oh well. That's that then. It came and went, unspectacularly on a roundabout at 25mph It IS wiered seeing the extra digit on the odometer, but nothing exploded, no party poppers came out of the vents, and I'm now a mile and a half into my cars centenery year!
  16. I'd have a go of that Henny, but I'm not sure I could get up to 100mph in 3 miles!
  17. Ha Ha... I was debating the photo thing myself but you've convinced me not to bother. May just take a snap of the cat bouncing off the cieling! (Joke. My cat can fill me in!)
  18. As I sit writing this, I've got about an hour left of owning a sub 100 thousand mile motor. Came in to work this morning, and as I parked up it was reading 99997. Forgot to feed the cat this morning, so I've got to go home and do it at dinner which is gonna push it over the 100k mark. Bugger! How hard shall I volley the moggie?
  19. I had a long chat to a bloke in Dubsport about oils last time I was there. He basically said that even though my car had been run on the vw gold stuff from new, doesnt mean it's the right stuff to use now. Given the age and the 100k mileage on the motor, he reccomended putting the 10-40 stuff in The previous owner had started using 10-40 a few years ago, and my car had never leaked a drop until I changed from this to 5-40 fully synth oil in it. (thinking i was improving the quality) when it started to p!ss out. Changed back to 10-40 and I've got a clean drive again. Bottom line seems to be. Dont reduce the viscosity of your oil from what the cars previously been using.
  20. Had a similar problem with my injection engined car prior to the Corrado. Felt like it was gonna die under gentle accelleration, but was ok with your foot hard to the floor. Was a split in the air intake pipe. Getting too much air for the feul mixture while not under full throttle. May not be this at all in your case, but worth a quick check.
  21. A multi tool session is on the cards then, if that's what it takes. Oh, BTW.... All the pics I've seen of members cars today have included some sort of cool moody background, or they've been parked on a block paving `canvas' to set them off. Just realised the one I put up earlier had the next door neighbours washing in the backgroud! (Must do better with my composition in future)
  22. Decisions decisions  I'm glad no-one suggested getting them gold plated! I suppose thats the difference between us and the Lax Power knobheeds though, innit?
  23. My rear badge needs something doing to it. It's got a half chrome, half faded to plastic finish at the minute. What d'yers reckon.... New chrome one, colour coded to the burgundy paint, or black to tie in with the front?
  24. Go halfway with a 4 slat grill but have the badge blacked out. I think it looks cool (And while we're flashing pictures of our babies........)
  25. Ah. So it's not just an orange bulb giving it the tinge then. Must admit to never having taken them apart to find out. Is it an orange reflector type thing behind the bulb that could be removed and make these silver bulbs worthwile? It's not a filter right behind the front lense, is it?
