  1. Ha ha. I wasn't going to admit to that one mate, but I do it too. I once clocked someone behind me in a golf pointing at my spoiler when we stopped at lights. The dash button was SCREAMING my name out while they were looking, but i resisted temptation and didn't show off   (I'm soooo mature)
  2. Am I the only saddo who looks in the mirror now and then to see if people are rubbernecking you after you drive past? Thought so. :( (But they usually are) :D
  3. Looking through my history i noticed mine had always been run on the gold stuff. What's the difference? Did they have fully and semi synthetic oils back in the early nineties or is the gold / silver thing just a quality distinction?
  4. Gutted for you Eug. Don't let these two knocks put you off future ownership though mate. Third time lucky with the next one? (Then again, you could do the hat-trick) Ahhh, you'll be ok. get another.
  5. Was it your mate turning the air blue, or is that really the name stamped on the car ramp in the background?
  6.  Bus lanes.... Whats all that about then eh?
  7. Seems from everyones comments it's a pretty common trick used by councils tryin to save a few bob at our expense. Bet they wouldn't use it in the likes of London. :x
  8. That's the whole point though mate. There wasn't a temporary 20 mph speed limit in force on the road because it wasn't a temporary road surface. That was it: Loose gravel: Final surface: I.E. Full speed limit..... 40 mph! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...... count to 10.......... OK. I've calmed now
  9. Hey, After all this talk of top tints. I've just driven home from work and noticed i've got a band of tiny dots at the BOTTOM of my windscreen, sort of half obscuring the wiper blades from the driving position. Never picked it up before. Anyone else got these? Cos penny to a pinch of shit says the replacement one wont have them unless i ask specifically.
  10. Hmmmm...Not sure. The car's Burundy. Cant decide if one would suit it with all this red mist  I got a blue top tint as a replacement for the green one on my old astra SR once. (ha ha. not many of them round nowadays) And i thought it looked well better, but that was a blue car anyway. *Sigh*..... Too many decisions.
  11. Is that an aftermarket security thing though?
  12. You just know it was only done to have a "both spoilers in synchronisation" thing on the go.
  13. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!
  14. Do yourself a favour Rack. Leave your Mk1 AND your nice white Corrado on your drive for a few weeks untill the other dickheads (like me) have taken all the hits from the stuff until it disappears. It's hard enough keeping a 10+ year old car body free from dents and scratches without these clowns doing their best to fuck it up for us!
  15. Yeah. Suppose I'll have to nick the missus' digi camera tonight and get snapping. What a nightmare. Anyone got Johnny Cochrane's phone number?
  16. Just got off the phone from the windscreen people. £60 excess, not £50. It just get better, don't it? One thing though, they asked if it had a tinted band at the top. my cracked windscreen hasn't and they're replacing like for like, but it's just dawned on me that this one too, may not be the original. Anyone know if a '91 valver should have one of these bands, or didn't VW bother? Ta.
  17. I was thinking of doing just that. Really. It's taking the piss. There's piles of the stuff collecting in the gutters and along the centre point, where wheels haven't mopped it up. Not providing adequate road surfaces sounds about the right pitch to go in with. GOD I'M SO ANGRY!!
  18.         OF the millions of stupid ideas people in the world have EVER had, West Lancs council has just topped every bastard one of them by deciding to re-surface a few of the major roads in Skem, and finishing the surface off with (wait for it).......... Loose gravel. Thats it. Loose gravel. Not "Soon to be further treated somehow" gravel. Just tonnes and tonnes of the stuff scattered all over the show like some 5 mile long cat litter tray. Every day I've been driving like a 90 year old on the stuff, miles behind anyone in front to stop my car looking like a backstop on a target range, and some knobhead lorry has just razzed past me on the other side, kicked up a single piece, and smashed my windscreen! Nice one! 1 week before i go on holiday i'm £50 down with windscreen excess because some fuckwit in the WLDC budget department decided to get buffalo bills wild west economy road crew in to do a job! :2gunfire:
  19. Here's me in the background grinning my drunken approval at my mate Lee's party trick. Later on that night, he was talking of upgrading to bulldog clips. (There's never a stationary shop nearby when you need one)
  20. Well, if a Neil Henderson from the North East wants to know, the burgundy pearl H reg 16V he bought brand new is still bombing around. H*** CRG (if any of the other 3 owners are listening in) :)
  21. Ha Ha... "CORRADO FOR SALE: 1 CAREFUL OWNER!"  If Id've done that corner that fast, the resulting photo would've been VERY different. Youd've seen a terribly good looking, terribly anxious bloke grimacing behind the wheel of a soon to be wrapped up burgudy Corrado!
  22. Nice one. I'll try that. All i need now is some rain!
  23. So what pressure would be about right for my 16's then? Is this 38-32 sticker in my glove box putting me on a... (dare i say it?) bum steer
  24. Oh, and Furki.... Tyre presures could be an issue. I've got 16's on with 205 45 16 rubber round them. when I changed the 2 front ones the bloke asked me what pressure I wanted them at. I shrugged and said 'Errr.....' and he suggested 30psi, so this is what they were put to. Thing is, I've got one of those sticky labels inside my glove box, which says "38 front - 32 rear" so when the oversteer started happening, i tried them at these pressures. No difference. Any of you lot rolling on 16's ? If so, I think you can guess my next question..
  25. The tyres on the back ARE a bit ropey, but not so much that I'd suspect them of being the culprit. I remember a bit of a reply to a similar problem thread ages ago, where someone stated a certain situation can cause the car to oversteer one way, and understeer the other way. (can't remember what it was though) and this is certainly the case with my car. This rubber bush sounds like it's gonna be a lot cheaper to replace than both rear shocks. I know how to check the springy guys, but how do I ask the rubber bloke if he's ok?
