    Bonnet Vents

wouldnt that also let any fumes or even smoke into the inside of the car in the event of an engine fire as the bonnet would not be sitting on the rubber strip that seals the engine bay from the scuttle panel ? 108degrees doesnt seem anything to worry about

    Bonnet Vents

108degrees isnt really hot anyway is it i thought the problem was when you start reaching 118-120 degrees ?
  3. will probably take it apart and take some photo's this weekend then the bearings i used where from an old radio controlled petrol monster truck stub axle i will have to get the micrometer out and measure them the only problem i had was getting the fan to grip the shaft again after removing it as it slid down the shaft i sorted that out by removing the small metal gripper and tapped 3 small grub screws into the fan around the shaft (i suppose i could have drilled a small hole through the fan and the shaft and just used a pin but i wanted it to be more serviceable)
  4. unless you replace the crappy brass bushes with ball race bearings like i did. runs comletely silent and no vibration, it runs so freely that it spins when the fan is switched off with the air is moving through the fan 8)
  5. last time i saw something that colour it was steaming on a milking parlour floor
  6. did you have the just the clutch changed or the pressure plate too? if your clutch was juddering before you had it changed it may have a warped pressure plate or maybe even a damaged flywheel?
  7. nice to see a simple logical answer cheers :thumbleft: i didnt think of it like that  :brickwall:
  8. i find that mine does it more when i put my foot on the brake and clutch at the same time, very rarely does it if i dont press the brake. its had new master and slave brake and clutch cylinders so it cant be that it also improved quite a lot when i used redline mt90 might also be worth re-adjusting your shift mech.
  9. my measuring skills are fine but my maths skills are crap, is there such a thing as numerical dyslexia? if there is i have it
  10. has it got the locating pin on the back of the headunit? is it a solid obstruction or does it feel springy like the cables are in the way?
  11. how accurate would that be though?
  12. I found the roads to be awesome in BC when I lived there for a year. However, that was compared to the shite we get in Norfolk. the area where my brother lives is proper duelling banjo's country though, the roads are pretty much dirt tracks for logging machinery, and suffer from an effect called "washboard" where once a lorry has gone over a small lump in the road and the wheels bounce it causes a ripple in the surface which gets worse as each lorry passes over it  it was quite an experience driving a ford mustang with its antique suspension on roads like that  they dont re-surface the roads they scrape them flat with a huge blade on the front of a huge truck they also spray pine sap on the roads to reduce the dust that gets thrown up, unfortunately pine sap is quite acidic and eats your chassis away  your right though the roads where very good in and around toronto and the major towns
  13. thats why you allways see the cops on those us shows resting thier maglites on thier shoulder so if someone jumps out on them they can twat them with it
  14. looks like the thieving chavscum plaugue is now driving people out of thier own country  my friends are the only thing that stop me emigrating to canada (well and the crap roads over there) just watch out for the dunnie spiders
  15. would it be possible for some one to measure the distance from the 6 degree mark to the 7 degree point for the new mark? as i just bought a standard timing light and dont fancy spending 60quid for an adjustable one that i will probably only use a couple of times
  16. do new brushes come with the new voltage regulator??
  17. you can get large 360degree protractors from places like stationary box or whsmiths to mark the pulley up for 7 degrees so just to clear up, is the notch on the pulley 6dbtdc so a new mark needs to be made 1 degree further to the right?
  18. i was sitting in the car a couple of weeks ago in a queue of traffic in a car park and talking to a mate of mine on the handsfree kit, the next thing i know is the chav from the skoda fabia in front of me with the huge carbon fibre (effect) spoiler and stick on crap all over it was banging on my window and shouting "fu**ing come on then" so i opened the door and asked what he was going on about and he said "i saw you giving me crap in the mirror" when i explained that i was on the phone he wouldnt have any of it and just kept throwing a wobbly and said he was a squaddie and you shouldnt f*** with squaddies wtf!!!!!! then a copper walked past and he quickly got back in his chav mobile and drove off. then later that day i noticed he was a couple of cars in front of me driving out of town, and when the cars behind him turned off he realised it was me and slammed the brakes on and skidded into a layby and opened the door in front of me and jumped out his car, i dont think he expected me to accelerate at him though
  19. do you think the driver said "doh"................. i'll get my coat
  20. growing up the countryside you see some pretty gross things but that is something else
  21. Didn't notice this reply. Autoglym is a polish not a wax and offers little protection for your paint. If you have a red C you will notice the polishing cloth will be red after use. This is not good if you polish it regularly. Autoglym has its place, i use it myself but only for prep at the beginning of a season (ie. once a year) and thats it, wax from there on. I don't rate buffers either. Your car should aways be polished in straight lines so you don't get swirl marks. yeah i know its only a polish but the car hadnt been polished properly since last summer and was starting to go pink. and the thread title is "polish recomendations" not "wax recomendations" i only used the buffer to apply the polish as it did a really good job of getting it on evenly, and buffed it off by hand to avoid any swirls, i used some wax in a white flat tin last year but i cant remember what it was but it gave a really good long lasting finnish, looks like i will be getting some Meguiars or swissol soon though
  22. sounds more likely to be suspension related though if your steering is shifting and you are pulling to the left mine had a similar problem and after changing the top mounts, bottom ball joints, bottom wishbones and bushes it turned out to be a very knackered shock on the drivers side, the shaft was wobbling about in the top of the strut
  23. but not everyone has the same taste in bodystyling, i voted for a20lee because i have seen it in the flesh and was very impressed with the standard of the work at the end of the day the winner was voted for by the majority so you cant really argue with that can you ? also if the winner of each catagory is going to be used as the "forum mascot" for a month this feature wont last very long, well 3 months to be exact, so what then?

    New GTI

that retro red strip around the grill would stand out more on the black or silver 8)
  25. got a nice 240v car polisher for chrimbo which worked very well with the auto glym super resin stuff i also found that lightly sprinkling the car with clean water then taking it for a drive to dry off gets rid of any static problems
