Corrado Forum Car of the Year - Nominations
coolrado replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in General Car Chat
maybe we could have awards for best original car best modified bodywork best modified engine/drivetrain best engine transplant most bhp best interior ect and maybe the winners of each category could permanently display the award in their sig or below their avatar -
some dealers try to con you into buying all the bits seperately but to quote jimsg60 2x Lupo GTI wiper arm and blade kits (part no. V6X2 998 406) £17.36+VAT from VAG Thats all you need. 2 of those. Job done. they tried to sell me all the bits seperately at first but after hastling them they finally got some for me  one of the parts guy's suggested that he could order the kits and sell them seperately for more

Remote start, is there a kit that does this?
coolrado replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
surely you could fit a couple of micro switches to the shift mech to ensure its in neutral, a couple on top of the gear box and a couple inside on the lever just to be sure if i where to have a remote starter i would probably use an infra red remote so i would have to be able to see the car to start it just in case anything did go wrong. there are about 3 miles of 30 mph roads from my house before i get to the bypass and get to open her up so the engine is usually up to temp when i went to visit my brother in canada i noticed a lot of cars with a large two pole connector on the front, when i asked him what it was he said its for an engine warmer as the temp get quite low out there some people leave the car plugged in and it keeps it nice and warm 8) some use a imersion heater style system with a flexible heater cable that you insert into the radiator and others use a heated water pump that keeps circulating warm coolant around the system 8) -
just bought one of these to do my g60 it is a damn site quicker than the old two person technique 8) i had to up the pressure to about 30 psi to get the old fluid flowing and was given a tip from a mate to put a cable tie around the fluid resevoir and master cylinder as he had seen them pop off before  if the fluid dosnt seem to start moving you can try slowly presing the brake pedal and slowly releasing it which should get it flowing also if your nipples havnt been touched for a while soak them in some plus gas or wd for a while or you might end up snapping one like i did  hth

with most insurance companies you just pay a 50 quid excess and it dosnt effect your premium mine has a small circular crack just outside the wiped area which passed the mot but the rac windscreen bloke said they would change it under the insurance so its booked in for next week does anyone know if they supply a new rubber trim when they fit the screen?
-
it would probably be cheaper to change to a different insurance company

cheque is in the post 8)

tell them you where unsure who was driving the vehicle at that point in time and could they provide any photographic evidence to help identify the driver, if they cant or the evidence cant identify you as the driver then fight it, as they shouldnt prosecute you with no evidence, they will often try and bully you into taking the blame but without proof they cant. there are a few sites on the net helping drivers to find loopholes or other ways to avoid prosecution have a look around. i dont see anything wrong with trying to get out of it as i personally know of at least two coppers who repeatedly speed while off duty on a daily basis and one other who drink drives back from the pub every friday and saturday night (usually 6/7 pints within the space of a couple of hours  )

worrying rattle - (nothing to do with)driveshaft?
coolrado replied to chrishill's topic in Drivetrain
not much point checking the heat shield then  its the cat heatshield that rattles  sometimes the handbrake cable can rub on the rear tyres check for leaks in the exhaust where its joined, sometimes a small hole can sound like a ticking or rattling -
worrying rattle - (nothing to do with)driveshaft?
coolrado replied to chrishill's topic in Drivetrain
cat heat shields have a habit of rattling loose if the heatshield, brackets or bolts are knackered just chuck the heat shield  if you check the shield and it seems ok and cant find any other visable cause it could be a knackered cat :( hth -
there have been solutions posted for this, something to do with releasing the catches from under the car, try searching on the forum for "stuck bonnet" us=hood uk=bonnet
-
if they had of just said no, the next question would have been "why not" and they would have to give the reasons anyway
-
could be the clutch master or slave cylinder has the brake/clutch fluid level dropped?
-
yep the difference is quite noticable in these temperature isnt it typical though lower temps=more power but less grip to take advantage of it are these the sort of gains you get with a fmic??
-
usually different coloured emissions from the exhaust are white = steam (just normal moisture but if more serious, head gasket failure, internal coolant leak) black = fuel (running rich, overfueling) blue = oil (worn valve guides, worn rings/bores, head gasket failure to oilway or other internal oil leak) there are other causes for the above but white is usually allways steam and not smoke so if you are not loosing coolant you should be ok
