Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
BigTartanJudge replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
Was those readings at the fly or at the wheels, and agreed would have thought with the big IHI turbo and custom remap etc would make more than 225 BHP either at the fly or at the wheels, should me more like 300BHP ? -
2.0L 16V can produce up to 200 BHP with a lot of work e.g headwork, manifold, throttlebody, cams, induction kit and rechip etc. But this is more easily attainable if you use the 16V out of the MK3 Golf or Passat as they are 150BHP to start with and not 136BHP as was in the Corrado.

Loving the car mate, very similar to my white G60 which I sold last year, spec included ! TBH I like the picture above the last one, think it's much better being uncluttered. Oh and away to send you a PM  Cheers -

Clio 182 - hit me with your thoughts
BigTartanJudge replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
iow_corrado_g60, Cheers it will be when it finally gets finished and on the road ! I got the Brembo's brand new off a guy on here cheaper than you could buy them from the dealers at the time. The Seat dealerships have now all cottoned onto the fact that the VW scene were buying them up cheap and putting them on MK1/2/3 Golf and Corrado's etc and have now increased their prices to like £180+VAT per caliper and £70+VAT per disc ! :x -
Not new, seen these pics before and 90 % they are photoshops. But it is defo true VW are planning a new coupe, whether they end up calling it a Corrado or Rivo or whatever.

Clio 182 - hit me with your thoughts
BigTartanJudge replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
Out of all the cars that have been mentioned, defo the Audi S2 coupe. U mentioned e46 M3 but what about the e36 M3 ? Awesome cars, but go for the 286 bhp model. German, stylish, great handling and quick as fcuk, nothing more to be said really. I work for a car rental company and we have no end of faults with the Renaults (Clio's, Megane's and Laguna's) on our fleet, electrics ALL the time, poor handling and crappy build quality (plastic wings on Megane's and Clio's...). Cheers -
The US-spec front bumper also has no number-plate recess i.e. is completely smooth. HTH
-
Not 100 % true, the interior pictured above is indeed a standard Corrado interior i.e. not Recaro front seats, but the US / Canada-spec only half-leather interior fitted to most Corrado's from the factory was never available over here in Europe as an interior option. Cheers and HTH

selbekk, I take it you got the wheel delivered then man, when did it arrive ? Cheers

Quick question for the audiophiles on here ?
BigTartanJudge replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Well excuse me, there is no need to be rude.....the problem is that NO-ONE up here stocks EITHER of these subs, so thats why I wanted peoples opinion of them i.e people who have actually had experience with using with of them. I know I asked the question, but the question still hasn't been answered, hence why I felt frustrated and as if I was banging my head on the wall, that's all  Cheers -

using the spare wheel-well as a sub enclosure
BigTartanJudge replied to chrishill's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Hi Chris, just gave them a call and have the following prices for ya: 10" - £129.99 12" - £149.99 Both rated at 450W RMS (you can knock 10 % of these prices as I know a couple of the guys who work there and they have agreed to give me this discount !). Also, I might be able to get an even better price if there were a few people interested ? If you are still interested I can pop down and get a pic with my digicam for you and some more details. Have seen / handled / listened to them before and very good quality etc. You wouldn't actually lose any height in the boot at all as it would sit perfectly in the spare-wheel recess / well and sit flush / level with the OEM boot carpet, yeah you would lose space in the well itself but as the well would effectively be housing the sub itself then this isn't a problem. If you wanted to keep the spare-wheel well I am selling a VIBE CBR10 compact active (amplified already) sub/box for a damn good price..... -
using the spare wheel-well as a sub enclosure
BigTartanJudge replied to chrishill's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Tell you what mate, there is a car accessory shop near me that as one of their lines, sells this really compact sub already mounted in a trimmed box. Now the box itself, we're talking maybe 10-12 cm thick and 50 cm square. If you could mount this to a bit of MDF and then cut out an MDF baseboard to fit into the boot (same shape as the OEM carpet so it looks stock), with the bit cut-out in the middle the same size as the face of the sub-box, you would have something that looks like this (SEE PIC BELOW) for not a lot of cash at all. Let me know if you want details of it. It's just an idea but if wasn't going down the a la Audioscape boot side install using the sub and amp I already have my eye on, I would probably be using this set-up. Or the other option would be to mount the box to the rear of the seats or in the side compartment of the boot using the mounting straps it comes supplied with. Best thing is the sub in the box are matched and have listened to it and it sounds damn good for the cash !! HTH -
using the spare wheel-well as a sub enclosure
BigTartanJudge replied to chrishill's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Check this link out, which gives step by step on creating an enclosure using the spare wheel well. Also, the sub you choose should have technical data which states what volume it rquires to sound best e.g 35-45 litres and whether it should be ported or non-ported (sealed). The second link is on creating a custom sub enclosure (I know it's in a Seat Leon but the peinciple is the same !) which sits in the boot a la Audioscape, looks as good as these as well. This is how my enclsouse is going to be created in my corrado, as still want to be able to use as much of boot for other stuff as possible and keep spare wheel / spacesaver in there. http://www.icecavern.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1611 http://www.icecavern.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1822 HTH -

Mike at Momentum Tuning in the US has not long finished building a mid-engined RWD 20VT MK2 Golf so I can't see why it wouldn't be possible in a corrado as they are basically the same floorpan ? See link below: http://www.edition38.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=18459 and http://www.momentumtuning.com/site/proj ... /project1/ Cheers

Quick question for the audiophiles on here ?
BigTartanJudge replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Cheers for the replies, but has anyone actually had experience of the SQ and bass / drop capacity of either the Focal or MB Quart listed above ? I have to choose between THESE two specifically as this is what is on offer to me. Thanks
